What purpose does "Poster of the Day" have here in TNP? I am familiar with the Lexicon version of it. It seems to deliberateley encourage spam and posting of silly and pointless responses to every single posting on the forum. We did have a few issues with members posting extremeley short messages only to increase their post counts, hence we ask that the members now post with some substance to their thought.

Unless I hear reasoned discourse as to why this contest should continue I will close it in 3 days

The whole point of OOC is to be silly and most often pretty pointless.

In real life it's called 'small talk'..on a forum such as this it's called 'spam'...

Go figure :)
 
I'm FOR letting this thread stay open, as long as the spam is confined to the OOC. That's what it's here for.

However, Cathyy's responses have seemed to me to be insincere at best, and insulting at worst.

It is me so far. I hope some other people post a bit so I can reach 100 posts in a day. I remember the old days when I could get 200 in a day. Gosh was I a loser then.
