Carmen Sandiago?

So, what happened to the map? Did no-one save a copy? Is it even used/updated these days?

What happened to Thel D'Ran?

I'm sure I also heard someone talk about a Nationstates map - what's that when it's at home?

ta muchly like

Thel's around, I think he's just busy with other things. He has said (I believe) that he wanted to bring the map back at some point.

I haven't heard about the NS map before, but my guess would be that it's too complicated to really manage... with tens of thousands of nations, either the map would end up being HUGE beyond belief, or way too crowded, or (most likely) both.

The project to map all the pacifics on one map was dropped for various reasons.
I believe such reasons as:

- The West Pacific is geographically challenged and put their map in the East Pacific
- The East Pacific threw their nations all over the place as a result
- And there's not really any place to put the Pacific itself except at the bottom of the ocean.

I had heard about that one.

Well, yes, to some people that would probably work out just fine, but I doubt the Pacific would appreciate it very much. :p
