Support Islandwalk for Secretariat. If you want The North Pacific to have an even more significant voice in the World Assembly, you should upvote the dispatch and vote for Islandwalk when the time comes.
I am for this proposal. It marks the roughly appropriate point at which the General Assembly should prohibit conscription. The legislation is short but to the point, and I can see no flaws in the execution.
After some consideration, I am against this proposal on the basis of policy, insofar as I do not agree that conscription should be banned where it concerns non-combative roles in defensive wars.
I am against this proposal, mainly on 2b, because closed hearings are sometimes necessary. With that said, I would be interested to hear why others are against the proposal, since I haven’t been aware of any flaws that would inspire this level of opposition.
This is exactly the sort of thing that the actual UN does. I love it. Although the proposal has very little actual effect, not every piece of legislation needs to change the world, some can just be fun commemorative days. The proposal has no downsides or glaring flaws, so all that it does is act...
I am for this proposal. This is an excellent NSports proposal, which cogently demonstrates the reasons for commending one of the most active regions in that field.
I am, of course, for this proposal, though I do suffer from a bias in this regard.
At least from my domestic standpoint of the United Kingdom, there is a difference between a police investigation into a case and a decision of the Crown Prosecution Service to prosecute it.
The grounds for the repeal cited are not ideal, and I would have far preferred one that opposed the use of asbestos, rather than employing an approach of “it’s not that bad”. In my view, the repeal still presents good and critical arguments, even with the unfortunate choice of the angle from...
I am for this proposal. Spiritus has a great community, and it is active in many areas of NS in a positive way. The proposal plainly and meritedly showcases that.
I am against this proposal. Now that I am a TNP WA nation, I can finally vote for real; hurrah. I really would like to be in favour of this, because the proposal accomplishes its legislative goals excellently. However, I disagree with those goals. Policies of criminalisation with respect to...
Nation: Kenmoria
I pledge loyalty to The North Pacific, obedience to her laws, and responsible action as a member of her society. I pledge to only register one nation to vote in The North Pacific. I pledge that no nation under my control will wage war against the North Pacific. I understand...
The interpretation of “this is illegal but without penalty” was what I was describing. Member-nations must prevent said practice from occurring, but must not impose penalties on the nonconsenting participants. It is more than possible for this to happen. Member-nations could prevent someone...
(Non-WA) I am for this proposal. As Magecastle said, this seems to be a reasonable provision which many member-nations would have already implemented. The purpose of the GA, however, is to impose minimal standards, which seems like exactly what this proposal does.
I disagree on that interpretation of clause g-ii. An interpretation which would render a section nugatory is not a good-faith interpretation. Taking b-ii and g-ii together, member-nations must prohibit someone from selling or purchasing sexual services if that person does not consent, but can...
(Non-WA) I am for this proposal. It is a comprehensive set of mandates with regards to piracy, appropriately taking into account the international nature of the GA, and there are no flaws that I can see, aside from one minor error in wording. This proposal strikes the correct balance between...
(Non-WA) I am for this proposal. SC proposals that tackle trading cards are usually hard to do well, because of the inherent difficulty in making legislation which references cards in-character without being bogged down trying to do so. This proposal manages the balance very well. As someone...
(Non-WA) I am present. GA #226 does have many flaws, but I feel as though the ones that the repeal touches, though arguable, are not the ones that I would choose. It seems an odd choice to have selected only those flaws which are to do with the precise ideological bent of GA #226, rather than...
If a clause has the GA recommending something, then a member-nation complies by simply having that course of action recommended to it. That is the rule we use for why recommendatory proposals do not violate the optionality-rule: the mandatory compliance with those proposals is simply being...
(Non-WA) I am for this proposal. Though I disagree with a complete ban on conscription, for reasons of personal philosophy and politics, I find that there are enough arguments in the repeal to justify a replacement in any case.
