International Confederation for Social Democracy
The International Confederation for Social Democracy, founded in 1928, was established by a number of social-democratic, democratic-socialist and labourist parties and organisations to advocate for stronger cooperation and sociopolitical exchange between different nations to strengthen and enrich the global social democratic movement.
Members of this international organisation support social-democratic values; promoting social justice, robust welfare states and public ownership within regulated mixed-market capitalist economies, committing to representative and participatory democracy, ensuring the rights of trade unions and protecting collective bargaining rights, and eradicating poverty, discrimination, and oppression, whilst upholding the right of their nations' citizens to robust public services like education and healthcare. Members of this organisation also broadly support a democratic, gradualist, and reformist approach to reaching these ends.
The organisation is a broadchurch, housing social democrats from Third Way to those with democratic-socialist tendencies, so long as the organisation as a whole remains steadfast in endorsing and campaigning for the core values of social democratic politics while being enriched by its internal diversity of opinion and expression.
