Repeal "Read The Resolution Act"
Category: Repeal | GA #@@TARGET_NUMBER@@
Proposed by: Rhaza | Onsite Topic
Replacement: None

The General Assembly,

Acknowledging the noble pursuit of GA 122, the Read the Resolution Act, in mandating all delegations to this chamber properly review at vote documents,

Conceding that it is ideal for member states' delegations to the World Assembly to read proposals,

Nonetheless finding the mandates in the proposal to be ineffective in the pursuit of thoughtful legislative activity for two principal reasons,

  • The required establishment of an office for this purpose can be redundant and is liable to create waste in the governments of member states,
  • The requirement that the office "be staffed by at least one sapient, literate employee" is grossly inadequate to this purpose, as no oversight is mandated, no meaningful qualifications specified, and overall may be easily abused or neglected by states disinterested in good-faith compliance,

Confident member states with good-faith interest in the World Assembly can establish and manage sufficient delegations to the World Assembly absent this resolution, and that those disinterested in doing so are unmitigated by GA 122,

Hereby repeals GA 122, "Read the Resolution Act".
Note: Only votes from TNP WA nations, NPA personnel, and those on NPA deployments will be counted. If you do not meet these requirements, please add (non-WA) or something of that effect to your vote. If you are on an NPA deployment without being formally registered as an NPA member, name your deployed nation in your vote.

Voting Instructions:
  • Vote For if you want the Delegate to vote For the resolution.
  • Vote Against if you want the Delegate to vote Against the resolution.
  • Vote Abstain if you want the Delegate to abstain from voting on this resolution.
  • Vote Present if you are personally abstaining from this vote.
Detailed opinions with your vote are appreciated and encouraged!

This may just be me, but I always found this resolution creative, and in reality, harmless. I don't find the repeal arguments either, so I am against this one.
