Announcement of Changes to The North Pacific's Policy on External Campaign Telegrams

The Ministry of World Assembly Affairs would like to announce that going forwards we will be asking foreign nations not to send tag:wa campaigns about World Assembly resolutions to The North Pacific. I will be asking the Delegate to discuss next steps towards ensuring The North Pacific's sovereignty is paramount when we discuss World Assembly messaging. Please note that this policy change does not affect telegrams sent only to the in-game delegate.

I'll be taking a leave of absence tomorrow and Friday. I will be available Saturday morning to complete tasks necessary for the end of the term.

End of Term Address

Tomorrow, most likely, a new delegate will be sworn in. Whether a new minister marches into my office and cleans it out, or I am invited to return, it's been an honor to serve The North Pacific as her Minister of World Assembly Affairs. As my final action for this term, I declare 2025 the Year of National Sovereigntism. The trend of resolutions being repealed will continue, this administration's work is not finished. Flemingovia bless us, every one. Thank you.

Beginning of Term Address

Hello again. As you may be able to tell, I’m not one for long messages. Let’s cover some business here.
  • Heroes of Valhalla: We’ll be contacting our allies tonight about reviving this. We’re making this effective. Let’s get to work. We’re also looking to rebrand so stay tuned!
  • WALL: WALL is a good way to make sure we write IFVs for quality. We're going to reach out to our allies in WALL to make sure we can all benefit from that as a collective.
  • More NatSov: Most resolutions on the books must be destroyed. They are inefficient and costly. I know it, you know it, a lot of people here know it.
  • I am appointing @Euler and @Nutmeg The Squirrel as my Deputy Ministers of World Assembly Affairs. Their work last term was invaluable and I have learned much from them.
It's an honor to be working with you all again. Thank you to Chipoli for trusting me and to all of you for engaging with the Ministry.

Midterm Address

Alright, so this is where I provide an update about how things have been going. As mentioned on discord, I've been MIA for much of this term and while that isn't ideal, real life sometimes just hits you like that.

However, I would be remiss not to mention @Pallaith 's excellent work writing commendations for our citizens, including Siwale and Sil Dorsett as of recent.

It's at this point where I'd like to appoint a new deputy, someone who I think has shown promise so far in WA writing.

Please congratulate @Fachu on becoming the newest Deputy Minister of World Assembly Affairs!

Thank you!

Opening Address
Hello North Pacificans!

The recent vacancy in the Minister of Culture position being filled means that I am now your new WA Minister. I understand that I may be a new face to many of you. After all, I only joined the region a month ago! In addition, this is my first leadership position in my four years on NationStates. You may be wondering why I even stepped up to this position in the first place. The reason is a care for this regions’ institutions, a wish to make this ministry thrive, and a belief in helping out. I believe that I have the sensible ambition, determination, and energy to not only do this position justice but serve this region to my fullest extent, and that’s what I plan to do.

First and foremost, I want to give credit to where credit is due. @Jinkies has been an absolute joy to work with and learn from. I want to personally thank her for her kindness, hospitality, encouragement, and support whilst I have gotten acclimated to my various WA duties over the past month. It is my honor to take over the reins from her and I congratulate her on her new appointment. In addition, I want to thank @Chipoli, who has only been welcoming and helpful these past few days. And finally, I want to thank my fellow regionmates, the people who have taken time out of their day to congratulate and be amiable towards me despite the circumstances. Seriously, you don’t know how much this means. Anyways, enough diddle-daddling. Let’s get started.

It wouldn’t be right to not detail the problems that have plagued this ministry, arguably for quite some time at this point. We’ve been struggling with a lack of activity, engagement, and motivation, that at some points has led to multiple of even our basic processes failing. While this is understandable given the circumstances, it is equally unacceptable. The Ministry of World Assembly Affairs is an institution with a storied past that is one of tradition, success, and service. It is critical that it is kept to the high standards it has so often met throughout the years. While there is only a little over a month and a half left in this term, I have a couple priorities:

  1. We need to get our IFVs published and upvoted onsite, within a reasonable time period, and ensure they are of a serviceable quality, as they have been down for a few months at this point. This accomplishes a few things. For one, it increases engagement in the World Assembly with the onsite community, and informs our region about the current WA proposals in a concise and effective manner. Secondly, it increases possible engagement with the ministry, as it is a task that is easy, but needs to be completed relatively often. Finally, it increases our ministry’s prominence on the world stage, especially if we can get these on the first page, which can lead to multiple more benefits from there. While I don’t have an exact timeline on when this will get “done” or when we can call this accomplished, I can assure you that it will be at a consistent point within a few weeks or so. Our first IFV in two months was published just a couple days ago, and I am extremely confident in getting this done.
  2. I want to get more people involved with the ministry and increase staff engagement. Obviously this is easier said than done, and is definitely a more broad priority, but it is still imperative, and something I know is achievable to an extent. This ministry cannot just become a one person think-tank. While some other ministries might be able to get away with that sometimes, this ministry works off of interaction and debate. I want to thank @Nutmeg The Squirrel, who has been a great help with any questions I have had over this transition, and the few staffers who have also contributed. Hearing from a wide variety of viewpoints is how one interacts, learns, and improves. I’m hopeful that my activity will lead to a better environment, less burden, and more participation. I have further steps I want to take regarding this, and I’m encouraged by recent developments, especially the response we have seen from numerous people looking to help out earlier in this term. I’m looking to accelerate some of the small improvements we have seen, and I’m confident that we will get on the right track with this.

While that’s it for my main priorities as we look towards the end of this term, I would like to delve into a couple more things here and also provide a little bit of an update regarding the goals set out at the start of the term and some of the current WA situation. In the GA, a number of repeals have hit the books, just as set forth. We are currently swimming in the biggest repeal wave in WA history, and I think it would be more than safe to call this term a win for National Sovereignty. In the SC, as mentioned a couple times previously, @Pallaith has worked his magic so far, as two TNP commendations have passed just within the term so far, with more still to come :p. I want to thank him for his amazing work once again, as he has been single-handedly carrying on this front. Our main goals in both of these chambers have been successes, and here’s hoping that continues.

I hope that sets the tone here. Here’s to a good rest of the term, and glory to The North Pacific!

-Fachu

Closing Address
Hello North Pacificans!

When I became Minister of World Assembly Affairs, I had two goals in mind: Publish our IFVs on site consistently, and attempt to increase engagement within the ministry. I am happy to call both of these successes, at least to an extent.

There has been an IFV published onsite for every at-vote proposal since I have become minister, as opposed to essentially none being posted before. We have been getting them out on decently acceptable time periods, as pretty much all of them have been posted within a day of the proposal getting to vote at most. Moreover, I have started running telegram campaigns towards the end of the term that have been getting our dispatches on the top page. I would like to consider this a success.

Regarding staff engagement, we did see improvement in this area towards the end of the term. We have seen 5 different people write IFVs during the term along with 8 different staffers post voting threads. People came forward when they were needed. However, in all honesty there is still work to do regarding this, and we need to be more proactive on this issue. I hope that the relative success we have seen can be built on in future terms.

On a slightly different note, in the General Assembly, this has definitely been the year of National Sovereignty so far, whether you may like that or not :). 12 of the 18 resolutions passed this year have been repeals, an astonishingly high rate, including notable repeals such as the repeals of the World Assembly Headquarters and the Convention on Genocide.

In the Security Council, we have seen great success in getting TNPers recognized and celebrated, in no small part due to @Pallaith's amazing work (yes, it’s still amazing). In this term, @Siwale, @Sil Dorsett, @TlomzKrano, and @Rom were all commended. Congratulations! Other notable resolutions in the term include an injunction of Vibonia and a declaration on the creation of two new sinkers!

In many ways, this term has been a struggle for not only the ministry, but for The North Pacific at-large. Believe it or not, at one point in this term, voting threads were not being published and IFVs were not even being written. The reason I point this out is just because I want to say I am proud of where we have come since then. When we were at our lowest point, we didn’t just give up. We worked together, came forward, and were able to get the ministry back on track. That is the definition of resilience, at least you better believe it is. That demonstrates who we are.

Glory to The North Pacific!

Opening Address

Hello again, North Pacificans!

There is a new term upon us! You know what that means. Another address is in store.

For those not aware, during this past term, I served as Minister of World Assembly Affairs for the second-half of the term. I gained valuable experience, and I’m excited to begin anew. I think I have the sensible and regulated ambition to continue the improvement of this Ministry. That is why my priorities for the term are the following:

  1. Get our IFVs upvoted and to the top page. This is the next logical step to take. We have been getting them out consistently, now we need to get them upvoted consistently. I have begun sending out IFV telegrams for the last two vote cycles, to great success. Our last 4 IFVs have had a combined 86 upvotes. Now it’s just a matter of continuing to do so. I have confidence we can pull this off; I think this is very achievable and reasonable at that.
  2. Continue to recognize the great members of this region in the Security Council, and defend our interests in the General Assembly. Last term, an astonishing 4 members of our region were commended. I don’t know if we can sustain that number. but I can assure you that there will continue to be attempts to recognize valued and contributing members of our community. On a different note, in the General Assembly, we must continue to listen to the voters' thoughts and voices, and support our regions’ collective voice. That means continuing to maintain our regional sovereignty in our choices and support the proposals that are best for us as a region.

I think those are good priorities to set out. In addition, I want to make an effort to make the Ministry less dependent on simply myself. Having one person do a vast majority of the work in a ministry simply isn’t sustainable. That means we need to be more engaging with the Ministry in every area. This manifests itself into reaching out to people who are interested and making it easier to get started. I’m hoping that along with other changes this term, this can be improved upon and we can create a sustainable and collaborative environment!

That’s pretty much all I have to say. I am looking forward to working with you all and hearing what you have to say!

Glory to The North Pacific!
