I hereby appoint @North East Somerset and @Foskeburg as Election Commissioners.

@North East Somerset has been appointed to the Election Commission by the Delegate. Noting that this nomination is subject to confirmation by the Regional Assembly, I hereby open the floor to debate and discussion on this matter. I invite the Delegate to give a statement in support of the nominee.

Should this reach a vote, I put the following motion before the Regional Assembly:
Motion:
The Regional Assembly, acting upon the nomination of the delegate, confirms North East Somerset to the Election Commission.

That's only your fifth post in two months. You're barely above minimum activity levels to maintain citizenship.
But I’m still here, immediately upon your attempt to falsely portray me as inactive. Furthermore I have been a citizen for years. I simply speak only when I have something useful to say. That must be a novel concept for you I appreciate. One could summarise as: Necessary Efficient Succinct.

I would object to a vote being scheduled at this time, given how it's barely 8 hours since the discussion started, though I'm not against the nomination - I'm keeping an open mind.

I know NES to be a competent and able administrator and would likely be no worse than any current commissioner - he's certainly unlikely to forget to take his oath. I guess my only question is why now? NES has been a citizen for year but has never been involved in TNP. So I'd like for the delegate to explain why he chose NES and for NES to explain why he's chosen now to get involved.

NES was one of the three people who stepped up and in my eyes one of the most qualified people for pretty much any job. He’s played this game for years upon years, and thus he has my full confidence. My thought process was pretty straight forward.

Why he wants to get involved now is a question best answered by @North East Somerset himself.

NES has proven himself to a trustworthy individual across NationStates and while I am not familiar with his service here, I believe he would carry on his integrity here. I do not have any qualms with his appointment.

With regards to the question raised by St George, I have been a member of the Regional Assembly for much of the past 13 years, and during this time have participated in TNPs democracy extensively. I would have participated in scores of RA votes in this time, and my love for democracy has always been at the heart of my involvement in this respect. Having given up all executive positions in my other regions over the past few years, serving now only in administrative, advisory and security capacity in Balder and the LKE, there are no remaining barriers in terms of conflict of interest, or time, in taking a role like this. As TNP is the premier democratic Feeder in the game in my opinion, and given my long history of membership of this institution, when I learned of this vacancy I thought; where better to serve than here.

Although I may never reach Blue Wolfs lofty standards, I bring over 20 years of experience in democratic institutions, judicial, political, legislative and administrative positions in a number of regions, many of whom have been strong allies of TNP during this time. I would think given my record, the independence and integrity of my judgement is beyond reproach.

If you're this hostile over such a simple line of questioning, one which is pretty relevant given that the job requires a minimum level of activity and attention, then I'm not sure you're a very good fit.
I would say contrary to this view, giving as good as you take and treating others with the same force, skill, or intensity with which they treat you, especially in an argument, can be an useful and relevant skill. It implies a reciprocal response, where you are strong and confident enough to match the actions of another person without backing down. I think a moderate propensity to stand one’s ground and not give in to attempts of intimidation places me well to serve in this kind of role.

Thank you, these replies adequately answer any concerns I had. Looking forward to voting for this when it gets to vote.
