Repeal: “Don't Kill the Poor Act”
Category: Repeal | GA #450
Proposed by: God-Empress Makasta Silversbane, Co-authored by: Logical Stimulus | Onsite Topic
Replacement: None

The World Assembly,

Believing that the world assembly should not have redundant or superfluous resolutions that do nothing but bloat the count of active resolutions,

Lamenting the continued existence of GA# 450 "Don't Kill the Poor Act”, which can be described aptly by the above,

Seeing as follows,
  1. Clause 1 is already covered by this body in GA 38 "Convention Against Genocide" as it does not define any new action as genocide which is not already defined as such by GA 38;
  2. Clause 2 does nothing except state a tautology, only serving to muddy the interpretation of GA 38’s blanket ban on genocide by “clarifying” that case-by-case uses of force are not genocide;
  3. Clause 3 is further duplication of GA 38, which already defines genocide as a crime and urges member nations “to apply the harshest penalties under their laws” to those convicted of genocide, rendering this clause needless and confusing;
  4. Clause 4 is duplication of GA 57 "Refugee Protection" as GA member states are already required to provide economic assistance to all refugees coming in and staying in their borders regardless of economic status;
Concluding that it is simple bureaucratic bloat when all of a resolution’s clauses are simply duplication of other resolutions,

Hereby repeals GA 450 "Don't Kill the Poor Act"
