Opening Address
September 2025
Howdy,
I'm Koopa. You've probably seen me lumbering around TNP at various points doing some sort of shenanigans or talking about the "good old days", and I have agreed to become your Minister of Defense.
First order of businesses, an obligatory congratulations to all of our recently elected candidates. I hope you serve the region well in going into this often-active season of NS. I'd also like to extend a thank you to @Halsoni for holding the fort down this last term. I can't imagine being Delegate and MoD at the same time was easy, so I hope to take the load off and continue on what you hoped to start during your time as Commander and Chief.
On to business regarding the North Pacific Army. My objective this term can be described in one word: growth. The NPA has stagnated in numbers in the last couple years, and this has to be reverse if the organization is to continue to survive. My plan for this involves two prongs: Reform and Recruitment.
I see these upcoming few terms as a time of change in the NPA, as I alluded to in a statement I made a month back. The delegate mentioned in their campaign the NPA Reform Committee that has been created to help update the North Pacific Army. Since this is a committee, I cannot make any definitive statements on what will come of this reform, but areas I'd like to target will be rank reform and reward reform. Rank reform is quite straight forward, finding a better way to streamline our ranks and promote people through them. The quicker we get them to officer, the quicker we can get them running operations is how I see it. In terms of rewards, in times past we gave out cards as rewards for participation, but due to the decline in that sector of NS (at least within our region) we need to use new methods to reward people. Banners, ribbons, and medals are good starts to this, but I'd like to see if there are better ways to implement or market these onsite.
As for recruitment, that's a tricky one. Many people have tried and purposed various things to attempt to drive R/D participation, but none have seen to work. I have some ideas I'd like to try, but I'd like to specifically investigate an area that initially brought me into the NPA. The fact we are a military. There are a lot of people on this site who like military stuff, and I believe trying to target this group could yield results. Increasing engagement in the NPA server is also something I plan to work on in order to keep people we catch engaged. However, this recruitment will also require operations for us to show what we are about. Ultimately, this step will take time. I can see it taking several terms before the NPA is returned to full operational fighting strength once again. Baby steps, if you will.
I hope you all, members of the NPA or otherwise, will be willing to work with us as we begin the steps to rebuilding our Army in the coming months.
Thank you for your help,
-Koopa
