Vodina, Republic of
Водіна, Республіка
Vodina (vd. Водіна), officially the Vodinian Republic (vd. Водіниська Республіка, Vodinys'ka Respublika) is a country in Northern Gothis, bordering Andrenne to the east, Duchrijeka to the south, and the Strait of Karlin to the north. Shym is the capital and the largest city of Vodina, followed by Kataryna, Tomysk, Sverkiv and Yedanyzhe. Vodina's official language is Vodinian, but other languages are also spoken regionally, such as Krawiteran and Ozari. There are nine voivodeships of Vodina, which are Golochyna, Dobruzh, Kratovska, Makrayina, Shym, Malatyna, Luzhanka, Tanatovska and Slavonska, which are further divided into raions. The total land area of Vodina is 30,112 km2, and its population in 2024 was recorded as 9,334,672.

Vodina was founded by Danylo the Conqueror in 434 AD following the victory of Szlavs in the Battle of Barnovychna against the tribe of Federii, uniting the two voivodeships of Golotinia and Lukany under a diarchy. Because of this, Vodina's etymology literally translates to "voivodeship", as it comes from the word "воєводина" (voyevodyna). The Diarchy of Voivodes (Vodina) lasted from 434 to 1774, when King Borislav II divorced the Aleksandra of Bantar, thus ending the dual rule of House of Teberynenko and the House of Benederenko. The shattering of the diarchy caused Vodina to plunge into a civil war which lasted from 1775 to 1779, finally ending with the decisive victory of the House of Benederenko and Queen Aleksandra II. The Bilshests, a radical communist group based in Varna and led by Dmytro Prokopenko, seized power in Shym in the February Revolution of 1922 and later founded the Union of Somvol Communist Communes (USCC), lasting until its peaceful abolition in 1987 by the decision of its last leader Maksym Kravchenko. Since 1987, Vodina has been a relatively democratic country, although corruption and lack of certain freedoms have been a major concern since the election of Matviy Rudyk in 2006.

Vodina is a unitary state and its type of government is a semi-presidential republic. The incumbent president of Vodina since 2006 is Yuliya Rudyk of the United Motherland party, and the incumbent prime minister is Havrylo Demydenko since 2013. Vodina is classified as a hybrid regime since 1987 and a developing economy. Vodina's top exports are agricultural goods, ferroalloys, timber and services in 2024. Due to its extensive fertile land, the country is an important exporter of grain and crops for the entire Eras. The national currency of Vodina is the Hloty (₴), which is worth IBU$0.067 since 2022. The nominal GDP of the nation was $81.837 billion in 2024, which accounts for $8,767 per capita.

Cities of the Vodinian Republic
Міста Водинської Республіки
Vodina officially classifies five cities to be of "metropoles of national importance" (vd. метрополії національного значення, metropoliyi natsionalʹnoho znachennya), which are Shym, Kataryna, Tomysk, Sverkiv and Yedanyzhe. Under the Vulgarist regime, urbanisation of cities have become more common with the introduction of panel houses Holoberenkas (from Somvol leader Vasily Holoborodko) in 1960s. Cities are defined as "absolute urban areas with populations exceeding 50,000" by the Ministry of Interior, with 20 settlements fitting the description as of 2025. Because the rural-to-urban migration after the fall of Vulgarism in 1987 had boosted the populations of large cities and disadvantaged smaller settlements, 41.51% of the population live in Shym, while 60.54% in total live in the three largest cities.
