Ministry of Cultural Affairs of The North Pacific

Closing Address, January 2025

G'day!

Welp, we've reached the end of the term and by Flemingovia it was truly a rollercoaster. I want to start by saying I'm proud of my team, but I'm not proud of myself. When I see the last term, I see blatant inactivity and a lack of initiative. I see people not perform the way I wanted them to perform. I see myself not being the figurehead I should've been. Despite that, I also see progress. I see a rejuvenated future, and I can assure you it's bright. We've laid the foundations for a new era of Culture. One where this ministry will be responsible for by far the largest portfolio in the executive branch of The North Pacific Government. My successor, you know who you are ;), has my full confidence and I look forward to what Culture can do under their leadership.
Let's get into it.

Events

We started off pretty slowly due to time constraints, but as the term went on my best Deputy ever, Pry, started hosting movie nights which were quite successful. I've been steadily involved in a major interregional event which is still delayed because of things out of my control. A shame, because I feel like it could've really sparked some activity. I've been talking to some interregional folks about hosting some collabs with both Culture and Comms, which you'll hear more about next term. It's made me super excited so yeah. Look out for that! I'll still be involved in that despite taking on a different role.

Thank you's

I would like to start by expressing my gratitude to @Picairn for giving me the opportunity to serve in a different capacity than I have in the past. It has been an honor to work with you, and despite some occasional disagreements, I can confidently say that you are one of the easiest people to collaborate with, and I truly appreciate that. I also want to extend my thanks to my Deputy Minister, @Prydania, for being a reliable source of activity within the ministry and for consistently contributing and supporting our efforts. You are one of the most talented individuals in the cultural sector, and it has been a wonderful experience working alongside you. Lastly, I would like to thank Wondo for his service as Deputy. I regret his unfortunate departure.

Very Important

Conclusion

In conclusion, as we wrap up this term, I want to emphasize the importance of the path we've paved for the future of culture in The North Pacific. While there were challenges and hurdles, we have made significant strides that will resonate in the years to come. I am optimistic that with the right leadership, this ministry will flourish and continue to engage and inspire our communities. Thank you for your support and commitment during my tenure; it's been a privilege to serve alongside such dedicated individuals. Let’s look forward to what’s next and embrace the opportunities that lie ahead.

One last time as Minister of Culture,

Cheers,

Halsoni
