Confirmation of Cloud as Election Commissioner

Mr. Speaker,

Noting that Simone's term expires on October 19th and having received confirmation that he does not wish to serve again, I hereby appoint @Cloud as Election Commissioner to replace him.

@Cloud has been appointed Election Commissioner by Delegate @Picairn. I hereby open the floor for debate and discussion on this matter. I would welcome a statement from the Delegate in support of the nominee should they wish to do so.

Should this reach a vote, I intend the following motion to be put before the Regional Assembly:

The Regional Assembly, acting on the nomination from the Delegate, appoints Cloud to the Election Commission.

@Cloud out or curiosity, have you ever tracked ballots during an election to have an unofficial tally of votes before? I’d also love to hear your thoughts on the recent change in EC rules, how would you have approached them if you had been on the EC when they were debated?

My apologies for the late reply. I've been busy with exams.

I've usually just waited for the election results to be posted rather than count. As for the EC rule changes, I think they were fair and reasonable, and I would've supported them if I was an ECer when it was debtaed.

Cloud is new to this position, but he has served the region excellently as Speaker, Deputy Speaker, and Deputy Minister. I have no doubt that he will perform well in his capacity as Election Commissioner.

Are you active enough to be around to supervise an election or engage in other EC discussions?

Yes, I am. Recently, however, I’ve prioritised IRL more than NationStates, though yes, I could be doing more. My schedule has cleared up now, so I have more time for NationStates again. Supervision and discussions shouldn’t be a problem.
