This thread will serve as an IC dictionary for any and all new words I come up with for Eiyyglish, the made up gibberish constructed language that is spoken in Eiyyglia/Eiyygland. Note that each entry won’t be in alphabetical order; they’ll be posted whenever a new word is formed. Please refrain from posting here and thank you.

THE OFFICIAL CONCISE EIYYGLISH DICTIONARY BY BAACCEN
TWELFTH EDITION, MERCANTI LANGUAGE VERSION

PREFACE

Language is the lifeblood of human communication, a dynamic force that evolves and adapts to the ever-changing landscape of our world. A dictionary serves as a vital tool in this continuous evolution, providing a repository of words and their meanings, origins, and nuances. It is a bridge between generations, a record of the past, and a guide to the future.

The Official Concise Eiyyglish Dictionary (Ōppfenliyce Becnōopt Eiyygiyiellisċ Woortboek; ŌBEWB) was first established from a series of manuscripts organized by Professor Miyderiyk Wiollhelm Baaccen, who, in the year 1882, was commissioned by the Royal Academy of the Eiyyglish Language (Kōningliyc Akaademie þǣm Eiyygiyiellisċ Spreǣkke; KǢS) to compile a series of Eiyyglish words used since the 15th century. Baaccen would pass away in 1893 before this task could be completed. His students would finish his work and publish the first edition of this dictionary in 1901, and the Royal Academy of the Eiyyglish Language would adopt it as the official dictionary to be used for the standard form of the Eiyyglish Language known as General Civilized Standard Eiyyglish (Allġemiyne Bescēaafdt Staandord Eiyygiyiellisċ; ABSE).

The creation of the Official Concise Eiyyglish Dictionary has been a meticulous and comprehensive endeavour, driven by the goal of capturing the richness and diversity of our Eiyyglish language. It aims to serve not only as a reference for scholars and writers but also as a practical resource for students, professionals, government authorities, and everyday users. Each entry has been carefully researched and verified to ensure its accuracy and clarity. It is the official Eiyyglish language dictionary sanctioned by the Royal Academy of the Eiyyglish Language.

In compiling this dictionary, we have embraced both the classical roots of language and its modern developments. We have included words from various fields of study, encompassing the arts and sciences, technology, and popular culture. This breadth of scope reflects the multifaceted nature of the Eiyyglish language and the myriad ways in which it is used, both within Eiyygland and beyond. The latest edition of this dictionary is the Twelfth Edition, published in 2021. The Twelfth Edition includes new words formed as a result of new advances in technology and recent developments in popular culture and events on the global stage.

You are currently reading the Mercanti Version of the Official Concise Eiyyglish Dictionary, which is written in the Mercanti language. When reading this version, keep in mind that Mercanti is not the official language of the Royal Academy of the Eiyyglish Language, as this version is intended primarily for a non-Eiyyglish language speaking audience.

Our approach has been both descriptive and prescriptive. While we document the way words are used in contemporary settings, we also provide guidance on their proper usage. This balance aims to respect the fluidity of language while offering a stable foundation for understanding and communication.

The definitions provided are concise and comprehensive, aiming to convey the essence of each word with precision. Where relevant, we have included etymologies to trace the origins of words, shedding light on their historical journey. Usage notes and example sentences further illustrate how words function in context, enhancing the reader's grasp of their application.

We acknowledge the invaluable contributions of linguists, lexicographers, and language enthusiasts whose work has informed and enriched this dictionary. Their dedication and expertise have been instrumental in creating a resource that is both authoritative and accessible.

As you navigate through this dictionary, we hope you find it to be an enlightening companion in your exploration of the Eiyyglish language. Whether you are seeking to expand your vocabulary, clarify a definition, or simply indulge your curiosity, this dictionary is designed to support and inspire your journey.

Language is a testament to human ingenuity and adaptability. In compiling this dictionary, we honour the vast and vibrant tapestry of words that shape our world. We invite you to delve into its pages and discover the wonders of language in all its forms.
