Iolanta - Worldpedia (http://www.mc.worldpedia.org)
Iolanta, formally known as the State of Etiya, is a sovereign state in Ethia. It is geographically bounded to the north by its coastline that stretches along the Ethian Sea. Its neighboring countries are Sorovia to the north and the Partitioned Territories in The Aurorea to the south. Historical conquests and mass migration by its neighbors, including the Suavidici, Aurorean, and Predicean empires, have made Iolanta diverse in cultures and ethnicities. The majority of the population lives in the capital city of Güney Antalya. It is officially bilingual, speaking Aurorian Mehrabic and Predicean.
Iolanta is a parliamentary democracy, based on the Goyanean system, led by a constitutional monarch. The monarch is Predice's Grand Doge Vittorio. The head of government is a prime minister elected by the unicameral Parliament of Etiya, currently Nunzio Farrugia of the Labour Party. It is an industrialized country with a lower middle-income economy.
In 21 CE, the stone fort Castrum Iolanthium was built by the Imperium Suavidci. The fort settlement was mostly populated by the native Early Proto-Sorovics. It was conquered by Hamdamid Aurorea in 936 CE. The territory was reorganized into the Khediyuta of Sorubya. In 1521, the Aydini Empire conquered the southeastern provinces of Sorubya. The newly-gained territories became part of the Aydini protectorate of Sorubya D'ayna. It oversaw the mass conversion of Sorovians to Mehrabism. In 1763, Iskshidid Aurorea re-conquered the territory. In the 19th Century, attempts at democratic self-rule were often suspended as a response to rebellions. After the Predicean-Aurorean War (1896-1898), Predice annexed Sorubya D'ayna, renamed "Predicean Etiya" as an autonomous dominion. Direct rule occurred in 1965 after a socialist coup d'etat established the People's Republic of Predice. The legitimate government escaped to Güney Antalya, the temporary Predicean capital until PRP's end in 2003. In the same year, Iolanta gained its independence.
