Incidents of Kumaria Lore Journal #1
A Rather Basic Lore Explanation
(Without spoiling anything major, as I plan on further elaborating in chunks dedicated to specific characters and plot-points)
"It simply works, alright?"
Allow me to explain to you what the Incidents of Kumaria is, as simply giving you what genres it is seems rather unsatisfactory to me.
There is a deity (one of the most powerful in the collection of multiverses dubbed the Omniverse) named Valaria who, following a disagreement with the other 7 deities (who she governed the Omniverse with) was exiled to a prison dimension dubbed the Null Realm. The Null Realm is not meant for deities or individuals who have as much power as her, so cracks immediately form as she arrives in a steaming rage. Utilizing said cracks within [technically] reality, Valaria is able to manipulate 7 universes mostly outside the influence of the 7 Supreme Deities and places 7 "keys" (name WIP) across these realities in specific places so she doesn't have to search every universe's planets and moons to collect them. These take time to appear within the realities and unfortunately not short enough of a time period to collect the keys through the cracks in the null realm, and they are (partially) sealed by the other deities.
In the 2030s, the major powers faced a major decline (combined with the beginning of an age of technological stagnation) and a global/regional [depends on if you're Russia or China] which results in the collapse of the Russian and Chinese states into warlordism. Kumaria [being a historically repressed Manchu peoples] declare independence from the PRC in the face of the start of this New Warlord Era and begin expanding it's influence in the Amur. Simultaneously, Maurnindaia (funnily enough Kumaria's neighbor) is released from Russia and works towards federalization with the other Siberian states, which eventually forms (in the Far East, at least) the Siberian Federation, who opposes the growing Kumaria. Eventually the two decide to not engage in hostilities with each other for the time being and instead engage in a cold war, with proxies being various warlord states in Western Manchuria/Russia, which continues while the peace devolves into occasional border skirmishes and an arms race, with the status quo unchanging.
In 2060's, Najilla Uujila is born (important), being aggressively raised to become Premier of Kumaria in the future. Around this time, the Kumarian equivalent of the SCP Foundation (the Kumarian Agency for the Supernatural, Agency or K.A.S.), discovers individuals with the ability to (albeit to a certain degree) manipulate time and space at will (think the powers from Quantum Break, except slightly modified to come from an extremely rare gene/trait), and immediately start militarizing it (along with the Siberian equivalent, Cabinet 117 [name WIP]). Eventually, funding is allocated to both the Agency and C117 to start small-scale cloning programs to mass produce children to indoctrinate and train at birth (the K.A.S. Program being called Project Aphex, for future reference). The benefits from this are mixed as only some are convinced to be utterly loyal to the Kumarian flag, as with the gene comes a supernatural quasi-awareness of the outside world. In the 2070's a teenage Uujila would start work in the K.A.S. and quickly rise through the ranks with an impressive amount of competence while simultaneously entering the Kumarian Supreme People's Congress [or just the People's Congress] as the representative to the Kumarian side of Vladivostok. (Oh yeah, quick little tangent, attempts to expand spheres of influence have left Vladivostok split between Maurn-Siberian and Kumarian authorities). In 2079, Sohei Uujila [Najilla's Uncle and patriarch of the Uujila family] retires as Premier and names Najila as successor.
Under Najilla, the country would undergo a period of violence against criminals (collections of gangs that had accumulated massive amounts of influence following the anarchy of the 2030's, the most relevant being a Zelescow [Maurnindaian capital] based quasi-Russo nationalist group) and various political dissidents as Uujila would further consolidate his influence and would make several provocative and strategic moves to further secure Kumarian independence. His lack of hesitation to take decisive action made Uujila both extremely feared, respected and idolized within Kumarian political circles, although he's rather mentally unwell and susceptible to episodes.
In 2080, the carrier of the key dropped into this universe is born. Zenmin, due to his nature and the type of key he holds (there are different types) possesses superhuman strength and agility and heightened abilities, so the Agency puts him in high regard, though Zenmin doesn't really hold much loyalty to anything, being more of a killing machine. Valaria obviously notices this, and sees it fit to go to Earth as a human. Through her time on Earth, Valaria encounters 3 individuals (who's powers she awakens to assist her) who she develops an affinity for. In 2092, Zenmin and Valaria encounter one another and a feud between her and the K.A.S. occurs, lasting 2 years before Valaria (now with some sense of humanity) is defeated and sent back to the Null realm. Before she is sent to the Null Realm once again, Valaria lets off an EMP which targets K.A.S. and C117 facilities storing the Children. Around 45% of the Children escape and scatter into Asia, most never to be seen by Kumarian authorities again- although there was an uptick in patrols in the countryside being ambushed. (Most are attributed to the next topic of discussion)
A collection of dissidents and 8 children start raids on Kumarian infrastructure. They stop around the same time the K.A.S. takes notice of them. 458.2, 002, and 001 (numbers subject to change) along with the collection of dissidents they had paired up with [with cooks, now] to form the Navaborosk Syndicate [also known as the Lambda Wolves] (the other children go their separate ways with the 3). They, through brutal force, would establish itself as an equal to the Zelescow Group. Najilla, suffering from immense amounts of stress, is "temporarily" ousted from power following a vote using one of the few powers the Congress is given. The 1 and a half period of time where an interim government formed had been a tumultuous period, and by the end of it, Najilla's cousin, Nahkambaru Uujila, would consolidate his influence and become the new premier.
And that's the gist of it. If this made you any interested, considering following this thread and maybe joining the team. It'd help a lot. Facilitating discussion about Kumaria and keeping it semi-active will also help.
