Government: Theocratic Absolute Monarchy under Queen Yvonne
The denizens of Gehldenbaum or the Golden Tree are known as the Gehlden.
The Gehlden peoples are one of the most insulated and racist in Sorras and yet also the most Tolerant and welcoming. The stone like automatons are humanoid enough in shape. From a distance they look like any other man. As one gets closer, the difference become more apparent. Smooth stone faces with no mouths or noses. Mechanical joints of rock and metals. Glowing white dots where eyes should be. Their origins are a mystery even to themselves. There are hints to their creation scattered across the world which they pursue fervently. Their society is like many others throughout the world. They work metals in to armor and weapons of war. They weave cloth into clothes and tapestries. They have awe inspiring architecture. They have meticulously painted art. They conduct trade. The difference lies in the fact they do so silently and with a slight rhythm to their movements. Each move is what one could consider the peak of efficiency. No movement is wasted. Every action calculated. It is a tenet of their faith. Their cult.
The Church
The Church is the main political body throughout the kingdom. It directs the majority of issues and objectives of the state. Queen Yvonne is simultaneously the head of state and the head of the church. The objective of the church and all Gehlden through faith, is to find their creator, their original "King". With this objective in mind, all Gehlden political machinations become easy to read. They expand to explore. They destroy rival kingdoms and peoples because they pose risk. Or are competition for the resources necessary to complete their quest. The Church teaches to accept all those who take up their creed. If one is a follower, they are a brother. If they are a denier, they are an obstacle. This system appears to leave no room for negotiation, but that is untrue. Self-preservation of the kingdom and church as a whole is necessary. So, diplomacy and trade are necessary as well. The Church is usually the one to conduct the business of foreign affairs with other governments and peoples. Though it is a cold affair. Most do not warm up to the Gehlden.
