Hello! I'm making this thread because I realized there's a lot of little miscellaneous lore tidbits floating around the Inaius channels in discord, and I figured it was about time Inaius got it's own thread to formally collect and canonize them. This is basically just my Scraps of Worldbuilding thread for Eras, but for Inaius. "Universebuilding" is just a fun term we use in Inaius for worldbuilding because it's space.
Though Cataphracts (marines) and Interlopers (orbital shock troopers) are often considered the elite forces of the Non Sola Directorate, and rightly so, they are certainly not the apex of the Yviiri forces. That honor would go to, as the Directorate refers to it, the Interdiction Contingent Commission. Individuals are referred to as Interdictors (not to be confused with interdictor style ships), or alternatively as sometimes referred to by non-Yviiri , "Zealots". Interdictors are genetically, mentally, and cybernetically augmented Yviiri, outfitted with the most advanced training, armor, and weapons the Directorate has to offer.
Augments include but are not limited to sensory, muscular, mental, exoskeletal, and endoskeletal* enhancements, as well as some rather precise changes to the synaptic coil** to augment the emotional responses of interdictors under stressful situations. Interdictors are employed in a number of ways. They can be deployed as an individual, a "binary" or a "triad", the latter two being two or three-Yviiri headhunting teams, or as lances (squads) and files (fireteams), though Interdictors are organized into falxes (companies) under a detachment (division) at the highest level. There are a lot of interdictor detachments, but all of them are under unitary*** control.
No individual Order within the Directorate has their own interdictors, at least not officially. Interdictors are used for many different operations, and don't have any specific usage. Their first deployment was in 2916 against a large-scale insurgent force on the planet Kos Maqiim, and they saw heavy usage during the relatively recent (as of 2956) Yviiri-Siezon War in the following decades. Interdictor individuals and binaries were often deployed to capture or assassinate high-value Siezons, but full-size lances and files were the most common way that interdictors were deployed during the war. The augmentations and armor/weaponry of the interdictors has changed over the years, from Generation 1 to the current Generation 5 Interdictors, known as "Interdiction Contingent Generation 5" officially.
The Interdiction Contingent Commission falls under Sector 11, the unitary government's intelligence sector. As a result they are also directly under the command of the Astronautical Commission**** itself, and of course the unitary government of the Non Sola Directorate as a whole. The Interdictors, of course, are not the first time the Yviiri have created what are effectively super-soldiers, they are simply the most recent. The Interdictor Contingent Commission is built off of the corpses of older Yviiri programs.
*While Yviiri possess a very complex exoskeleton, they also have a limited amount of interior structures to support their body. They are not a connected interior skeleton but still fall under the term 'endoskeletal'.
**Yviiri equivalent to a brain.
***Unitary is the term used to refer to the "federal" government of the Non Sola Directorate, ie the highest power.
****The Astronautical Commission is the Yviiri term for their "space navy".
