The Therro Collective

NEEDS REWRITING!

Deep within the far reaches of space lies a newly formed empire, one that is determined to leave its mark across the reaches of the galaxy. Calling themselves the "Therro Collective", they have finally managed to do something previously considered impossible: unify their home planet of Draconus under one single rule. After achieving such a remarkable feat, it was only a matter of time until the Therro Collective was able to rediscover the secret of interstellar travel. A new age of peace and scientific advancement quickly followed, and the Therro Collective was able to begin colonizing the galaxy unchecked...until they encountered aliens blocking their way!

Now, the Therro Collective faces a quandary: armed with the knowledge that they are not alone, they must decide how they will interact with their newly found neighbors. Will they play nice and seek to cooperate with these aliens, as they try to learn all they can about the secrets of the cosmos? Will they take an antagonistic route, attempting to subjugate these beings for their own purposes? Or will they, perhaps, simply ignore these beings and leave them to their own devices, so that the Therro Collective can focus on its own development? Only time will tell, but one thing is for certain: this marks the beginning of a new era in Therron history, one that will decide the fate of their young and sprawling empire!

Draconus

j8h75bbin4t81.png

Draconus is the homeworld of the Therro Collective, although, for many of its inhabitants, this was not by personal choice. When first discovered, Draconus was deemed to be a "paradise world", full of flora and fauna and completely devoid of any sentient life. Completely untapped and having a large number of resources, humanity was determined to settle the planet and exploit it for all it had to offer. Earth began incentivizing travel to Draconus, and many took up the call to travel.

Yet, those who arrived planetside quickly discovered that Draconus was not anywhere near the "paradise world" that it was promised to be. Much of the planet was covered by surface water and unforgiving terrain, making transportation difficult. Many areas of Draconus were subject to near-constant rain, and much of the native life provided hostile to the human interlopers. Progress on the development of the planet slowed to a crawl.

To solve this, Earth began sending large amounts of prisoners to the planet, to aid in its development. They soon outnumbered those who had traveled here of their own free will, necessitating the construction of several large prison systems around the planet. Prisoners were responsible for much of the work done on Draconus and formed the bulk of those who perished while transforming it. Discontent brewed rapidly, helped in part by the lack of available technology. Earth was concerned that the prisoners might take advantage of advanced tech, so they limited what could be deployed on the planet itself.

This anger at came to a boiling point as supplies from Earth began to dry up, and once all communication with Earth was lost, the penal colony went into open revolt. Soon, all the prisons were under the control of the prisoners themselves, and Draconus was thrown into disarray. As the centuries went on, the prisons began to expand into villages, then towns, then cities, and then megacities. Cut off from each other, they engaged in near-constant warfare for total domination of Draconus and its resources. It would take centuries for the planet to be unified under a single ruler: Marcellius Therro. Finally in control of the whole planet. he was able to usher Draconus into a new era of peace and prosperity. As its inhabitants were no longer constantly at each other's throats, they were able to cooperate with one another, and scientific research flourished. With the rediscovery of the Faster-Than-Light drive (FTLs), Draconus was able to travel between the stars and quickly began setting up colonies all across the galaxy.

Now, under the leadership of Vermillion Therro, Draconus seeks to expand its power to ever-increasing heights. Proud of his criminal heritage, Vermillion is determined to do whatever it takes to ensure the success of his empire, no matter the cost in life or morals...

Algae

The environment of Draconus is well suited for growing large amounts of algae. While this may seem like an odd thing to grow, algae has a wide range of unorthodox uses. House Therro uses it for many different purposes: such as a type of biofuel, an organic fertilizer, a source of nutrition, a device for pollution control, and even as an ingredient in bioplastics and polymers. House Therro takes its algae production very seriously and has implemented strict controls on who can produce it and how much they can make. It is hoped that House Therro will be able to expand its algae growing operations all across the universe, even on planets where normal algae growth would be impossible.

Hydroponics

As House Therro continues to expand across the galaxy, it will run into an ever-increasing number of mouths to feed. Traditional farming is inefficient and difficult to do in certain worlds. Instead, House Therrro has turned to aquaponics. Rather than growing plants in traditional, soil-based fields, aquaponics instead grows them directly into a liquid medium, that medium being water. Aquaponics utilizes far less water than traditional farming, less space, and allows for a far greater yield of produce. This method of food production is the standard across Therron space, although it is expensive to implement on all Therron worlds.

Robotics

House Therro is no stranger to the creation of advanced robotics. Indeed, nearly every aspect of Therron life involves the use of robots on some level. Robots are highly prevalent in civilian and military life and can be found in nearly any Therro world. While artificial intelligence has developed immensely under Therron rule, truly sentient robots still remain illusive, although part of this results from a fear of a robot uprising or hostile take over. Pictured here is a robotic bee working in a hydroponics lab.

Mining

While Draconus has always been rich in many resources, it has always been difficult to mine certain metals and materials from underneath the planet's surface. This has led to its delayed development and is the primary reason Draconus took so long to become a fully unified planet. However, with the advances in space travel, House Therro is now able to scour the galaxy for mineral-rich planets and asteroids, mining them until they are fully depleted. Such practices are highly debated and controversial within Therron society, with many showing concern over the destruction of planet ecosystems and the possible extinction of alien life.

dami-nuga-highresscreenshot00018.jpg
Medicine

Another vitally important aspect of Therron society, medical research is highly competitive and often controversial. In particular, the Therron Military is especially concerned with advances in this field, as they believe they can unlock the potential to create "supersoldiers". This has led to rumors of illegal and unethical experimentation done on both humans and aliens alike. While such rumors have not been independently verified, Therron medical research has made great advancements, and has even seen highly complex cybernetic parts integrated into the human form.

Sports and Gambling

While Therrons enjoy a wide range of sports, the most popular by far is that of Drone Racing. Drone racers are actually piloted by living beings and are required to navigate winding tracks all around different areas of the planet. Drone Racing is a high octane, adrenaline-fueled sport, and is not without its fair share of danger. While many enjoy being mere spectators, some prefer to take some additional risk by betting on the outcome of such races. Many have lost fortunes (and their lives) engaging in this behavior; only a select few are lucky enough to strike it rich. Pictured here is the Draconus Grand Prix, located around the capital city of Draconus Prime.

Power Generation

Having sufficient power is of prime concern to House Therro. Fossil fuels are too scarce and polluting to be used reliably, forcing House Therro to turn to other means. When feasible, renewable energy is implemented to power Therron cities, with such devices as solar panels, wind turbines, and hydroelectric dams. Often, however, power is granted via the use of nuclear fission or fusion, especially upon Therron capital ships. Biofuels and electric engines are also popular means of providing energy to Therron vehicles.

Entertainment

For the elite of Therron society, the universe is truly their playground. No price is too steep when it comes to the pursuit of pleasure. The rich and powerful spend enormous amounts of time and money on the most exclusive clubs, concerts, and restaurants, flaunting their wealth at every available opportunity. Naturally, such experiences remain illusive for most of the common populace, forcing them to instead rely on so called "cyber centers". For a small fee, a patron can plug into a virtual reality headset and experience the wonders of the galaxy within the digital realm. A few advocacy groups have accused these "cyber centers" of addictive programing, something that is vehemently denied by the owners of these establishments.

M1 Laser Rifle

Name: M1 Laser Rifle
Type: Directed Energy Weapon
Battery Capacity: 120 shots
Rate of Fire: 500 bolts per minute

The M1 Laser Rifle is the standard service rifle of all Therron forces. Directed Energy Weapons have benefits and drawbacks when compared to projectile weapons: they are immensely destructive, have virtually no recoil, and can fire far more shots before they require reloading. They are also prone to overheating (although they will not explode due to the weapon's inbuilt cooling system), generally have lower rates of fire than coilguns, and cannot be made stealthy in any way, as they are fairly loud and always give away the users firing position.

Full image.
bruce-yu-mg2.jpg
M2 Heavy Laser Rifle

Name: M2 Heavy Laser Rifle
Type: Directed Energy Weapon
Battery Capacity: 80 shots
Rate of Fire: 300 bolts per minute

An upscaled version of the M1, the M2 Heavy Laser Rifle trades increased power for a slower rate of fire and lower capacity. While it is fully automatic, most troops prefer to use it in semi-automatic only, to help conserve battery capacity when firing the weapon.

bruce-yu-mg5.jpg
M6 Beam Rifle

Name: M6 Beam Rifle
Type: Directed Energy Weapon
Battery Capacity: Variable
Rate of Fire: Continuous

The M6 Beam Rifle is a long-range, precision-based, energy weapon. It fires a concentrated beam of laser energy, unlike other energy weapons which instead fire "bolts". The weapon's power can be adjusted depending on the mission, as the more power the laser has, the faster it drains the weapon's battery.

M9 "Arc" Rifle

Name: M9 "Arc" Rifle
Type: Electro-Magnetic Pulse Weapon
Battery Capacity: Variable
Rate of Fire: Variable

The M9 "Arc" Rifle, also known as the EMP Rifle, fires bursts of electromagnetic pulses at enemy targets. While they do not directly damage things that they hit, they instead disable them, allowing the weapon to shut down enemy vehicles and electronic systems. The weapon can be charged to fire more powerful pulses, allowing it to disable enemy systems for longer periods of time at the expense of faster battery drain.

CS-44 "Infiltrator"

Name: CS-44 "Infiltrator"
Type: Coilgun System
Caliber: 10mm
Magazine: 12 rounds
Rate of Fire: Semi-Automatic

The CS-44 "Infiltrator" is a magazine-fed, 10mm, electro-magnetic coilgun system. Unlike traditional firearms, coilguns utilize a series of magnetic coils to pull projectiles out of the barrel, enabling them to be fired outward at high velocities. Therron technology ensures that this process is reliable, efficient, and whisper-quiet. Projectiles can be preset to be fired at variable velocities, depending upon mission parameters. Subsonic projectiles produce little noise, while supersonic projectiles impart high energy upon impacting their targets.

GRX-03 "ChemRail" Rifle

Name: GRX-03 "ChemRail" Rifle
Type: Dual Stage Linear Motor Rifle
Caliber: 8mm
Magazine: 40 rounds (box), 75 rounds (drum)
Rate of Fire: 800 rounds per minute

The GRX-03 "ChemRail" rifle is a magazine-fed, 8mm, hybrid weapon system. The "ChemRail" is so named because of its unique dual-stage, linear motor system; it uses both conventional gas systems and electromagnets to fire projectiles. As such, the weapon can fire its ammunition at ludicrous velocities, although it is more than capable of firing them at subsonic velocities, enabling the weapon to function stealthily.

SL-48 Blast Cannon

Name: SL-48 Blast Cannon
Type: Directed Energy Weapon
Battery Capacity: 10 bolts
Rate of Fire: Slow, Semi-Automatic

The SL-48 Blast Cannon is a light anti-vehicle and anti-material weapon. It fires oversized bolts of laser energy at its targets. The Blast Cannon is popular with Therron troops, although it is hindered by its weight, need for frequent reloads and slow rate of fire. An electrical sensor can be placed atop the weapon, granting its laser bolts a moderate ability to track enemy targets. This does, however, make the weapon even heavier and more unwieldy than it already is, and is often removed in the field.

FA-20 Defoliant Projector

Name: FA-20 Defoliant Projector
Type: Chemical Deployment System
Capacity: Variable
Rate of Fire: Continuous

The FA-20 Defoliant Projector is in essence, a flamethrower. It projects streams of flame at enemy targets in a wide cone, incinerating anything unlucky enough to be on the receiving end of it. While it does have an internal fuel tank, it can also be connected to a backpack unit for extra burn time, provided that the operator can cope with the extra weight and bulk. The FA-20 is also capable of lobbing fireballs if more range is required, at the cost of low accuracy and arching shots.

M41 Advanced Laser Rifle

Name: M41 Advanced Laser Rifle
Type: Directed Energy Weapon
Capacity: 90 shots
Rate of Fire: Semi-Automatic

Perhaps the finest rifle ever produced by House Therro, the M41 "Advanced Laser Rifle" represents the pinnacle of Theron small arms technology. Ir is devastatingly powerful and hyper-accurate, needing only a single shot to disable or destroy most enemies. Such excellence does not come cheap, and the M41 is prohibitively expensive to produce for general use, regulating it into the hands of Therron Huscarls only.

Centrifugal Gun

Name: Centrifugal Gun
Type: Rapid-Fire Projectile Accelerator
Caliber: Variable
Magazine: Variable
Rate of Fire: Variable, theoretically up to 120,000 rounds per minute

A rather unique weapon system, the Centrifugal Gun does not utilize coilgun, railgun, or conventional firearm technology in its design. Rather, it fires its projectiles by using centrifugal force. This gives the weapon system a number of distinct advantages, such as extreme rates of fire, near silent operation, and an inability to jam. However, they also have a number of flaws; they are bulky, somewhat inaccurate, and require a dedicated power source. Due to this, they are almost always mounted in defensive, static positions, for use as area suppression and denial weapons.

RL-99 Missile Launcher

Name: RL-99 Missile Launcher
Type: Missile Launcher
Caliber: 127mm
Magazine: Single Rocket
Rate of Fire: Slow

The premier anti-vehicle weapon in Therron service, the RL-99 is capable of delivering heavy firepower wherever it may be needed. While the SL-48 Blast Cannon is an effective weapon, the sheer destructive potential of the RL-99 is unmatched by most Therron small arms. In addition, the RL-99 has sophisticated tracking and targeting systems aboard, allowing the user to "fire and forget" when engaging enemy targets. The weapon can utilize a large variety of missiles, including "hypersonic" munitions.

VibroBlade

Name: VibroBlade
Type: Melee Weapon
Blade Length: Variable
Blade Composition: Titanium-Metal Alloy

House Therro still makes use of bladed weapons, albeit with a twist. VibroBlades get their name from their ability to vibrate at rapid frequencies. This allows them to cut through nearly any material with ease, and makes them deadly in close quarters combat. Even a scratch is often enough to remove entire limbs. Therro Troopers make use of shorter VibroKnives, while Therro Assassins often prefer the longer VibroSword.

M2000 "Titan"

Name: M2000 "Titan"
Type: Armored Personnel Carrier
Armament: One Heavy Beam Laser
Propulsion: Repulsorlifts (4)

A lumbering and ponderous creation, the M2000 "Titan" instills terror in anyone unlucky enough to face it. It is nearly impenetrable, able to shrug off all but the heaviest attacks. Its massive cannon fires concentrated beams of laser energy, easily capable of burning through the heaviest obstacles. Once it breaches its intended target, it rams through any remaining structure, deploying its payload of up to 60 soldiers.

M900 "Tripod"
Name: M900 "Tripod"
Type: Crawler Mech/Hovercraft
Armament: Automatic Hacking System, Electronic Jammers
Propulsion: Legs (3), Repulsorlifts (1)

Unlike most Therron vehicles, the M900 "Tripod" does not use lethal offensive measures to fight. Rather, it is designed to support Therron forces. It can deploy a powerful electronic jammer and "hack" enemy robots and vehicles, forcing them under Therron control. Tripods have two modes of locomotion: when traversing the battlefield normally, they hover on their centrally mounted repulsorlift. They can then deploy on their 3 legs to boost the signal range of their electronic jamming and hacking systems. It should be noted that the M900 Tripod has a reputation for being notoriously difficult to pilot.

EM-008 Electroshock Cannon

Name: EM-008 Electroshock Cannon
Type: Mobile Gun System/Crawler Mech
Armament: Electroshock Cannon
Propulsion: Legs (4)

Unlike other vehicles in Therron inventory, the EM-008 is not armed with conventional laser or coilgun weaponry. Instead, it utilizes the fabled "Electroshock" Cannon as its primary weapon. "Electroshock" Cannons fire concentrated beams of electricity at their targets. They are highly lethal against enemy infantry, frying anything they hit, and can disable vehicles by overloading their systems. While a terrifying weapon, the EM-008 is also sluggish and unwieldy in combat, making it vulnerable to counterattack.

Type: Aquatic Combat Vessel
Armament: Three Heavy Laser Cannons OR Three 76mm Railgun Cannons, Six "Heavy" Missile Pods OR Six Heavy Torpedo Launchers, Mine Deployment System
Propulsion: MHD Accelerators (3)

The Therron Army does maintain an aquatic branch for worlds with suitably large amounts of water. In particular, much of Draconus is submerged by lakes, oceans, and tidal flats, making an aquatic branch an absolute necessity. Vessels such as the IMI-90 lend are capable of maintaining maritime security while lending fire support to land-based forces. Their MHD Accelerators make these vessels nearly silent, and they are difficult to detect, although they do not have a cloaking drive.

Z-180 "Viper"

Name: Z-180 "Viper"
Type: Fast Attack Vehicle
Armament: One Light Laser Cannon OR One Coilgun System OR One Missile Launcher
Propulsion: Wheels (4)

Designed specifically for special operations, the Z-180 "Viper" is rarely seen on the battlefield, and for good reason. Much like the T-500 "Revenant", the Viper also comes equipped with a full cloaking system, enabling the vehicle to turn completely invisible. Adding to the Viper's stealth capabilities are the vehicle's small size, electric engine system, and stealth ablative coating, making it nearly impossible to detect. The Viper is favored by Therron Assassins, who can combine their stealth systems with the Viper's, and each vehicle can carry up to three of them. If unarmed, it can carry extra supplies or Assassins.

Being open canopy, the Viper has a rather interesting quirk: its onboard cloaking system will render the vehicle itself invisible, but not its passengers. To maintain full stealth, the vehicle's occupants must also possess personal cloaking systems.

Therron Trooper

The base unit of Therron infantry, Troopers are the frontline fighting force of the Therron Collective, committed to defending their star system at all costs. All troopers are required to complete around 4 months of basic training, although this requirement may be shortened in times of war. Therron Troopers wear an advanced form of polycarbonate armor, giving them good protection against projectile and energy weapons. Each trooper is equipped with a pair of augmented reality goggles, providing them with an integrated heads-up display, or HUD, for all combat missions.

Some Therron Troopers wear jetpacks into battle, and are known as "Jetpack Troopers". The devices allow them to scale great heights and gaps with ease, but are bulky and heavy to wear, making them unpopular with most troops.

Therron Assassin

Some of the most feared troops in all of House Therro, Assassins are trained in the art of stealth and subterfuge. Their armor is among the most advanced and expensive ever produced by House Therro, as it allows its user to become completely invisible for long periods of time. Assassins are skilled in eliminating key targets and sabotaging important systems and structures. They often wield coilgun weapons instead of directed energy weapons, and many of them have some form of cybernetic enhancements.

Therron Pilot

Pilots are an integral part of any Therron fleet, responsible for flying the various aircraft and spacecraft in Therron service. They generally attend up to 18 months of flight academy training, although this requirement may also be shortened in times of war, much like with Therron troopers. Therron pilots are highly skilled, and are considered to be among the best in the galaxy.

Combat Droid

While House Therro uses mainly organic units in its armed forces, it also makes fairly large use of Combat Droids to help supplement its forces. Droids are immune to pain and fear, never tire or feel fatigue and can function even after sustaining major damage. However, they are vulnerable to being hacked and electromagnetic pulses, and are often inferior in critical thinking and creativity when compared to organic units.

Messenger Droid

While most Therron robots are geared toward combat, many operate as logistical support units instead. Messenger Droids, also known as "Striders", carry important messages across the battlefield, as they are able to traverse most obstacles and rough terrain. Some also carry supplies for Therron infantry, as they are immune to fatigue and can handle heavy loads. While they can be equipped with light weaponry, Messenger Droids often actively avoid getting into engagements, especially when they have sensitive data to carry.

Cyber Dog

While House Therro has extensive experience with genetic modification, they still make use of canines, or dogs, in their armed forces. Dogs are useful for a wide variety of tasks, such as identifying contraband and explosive devices, patrolling and scouting large areas, and carrying medical equipment into other inaccessible locations. Cyber Dogs often receive extensive cybernetic enhancements to make them more effective in combat.

Therron Mech Trooper

Optimized for patrolling and reconnaissance, Mech Troopers are an important component of Therron infantry. They are highly modular, able to accept a variety of different armaments and tools, depending on their mission parameters. Light Mechs are small enough to fit inside most space stations and capital ships, making them useful sentries against any would-be intruders or boarders. Some models can equip large jetpacks, known as "jump packs", for increased verticality.

Therron Exo-Trooper

When operating in the vacuum of space, or on planets with hostile environments, the Therron Collective often deploys specialized soldiers known as "Exo-Troopers". Wearing specialized environmental suits, Exo-Troopers are able to tolerate a wide range of unpleasant conditions. Each suit is rated for extreme temperatures, and features reserve oxygen systems for when atmospheric conditions are either poisonous or non-existent. Generally speaking, Exo-Troopers are a relatively rare sight, for they become somewhat superfluous once planetside conditions stabilize after terraforming.

Therron Huscarl

Therron Huscarls have the immensely important task of guarding Lord Vermillion Therro and his family against any form of enemy attack. They are quite elusive and mysterious, only ever seen in the presence of high-ranking individuals. Due to their esoteric nature, rumors abound about them. Some claim that they are genetic experiments, bred to serve and protect House Therro. Others believe that they are actually some form of an unknown alien species, forced into servitude. Whatever their origins, they are downright lethal to face off against, and they seem to possess some psionic abilities.

Draconus Prime

The largest and most important city in all Draconus, Draconus Prime has been a symbol of Therron military and political might since the unification of the planet. Draconus Prime makes heavy use of Brutalism in its design, as Therrons tend to favor the style's imposing presence, weight, and simplicity. It is the dominant style of architecture all across Therron space, especially for government and public buildings. It is not, however, the only style of building within Therron space.

The Undercity

While Therron cities can be massive, sprawling settlements, they still often suffer from a shortage of available housing due to high costs of living and massive city populations. Those who cannot afford proper living quarters often find themselves driven underground, forced to dwell within makeshift and modified housing units. The sewer systems of most Therron cities can accommodate those without homes on the surface, although living conditions are often subpar at best.

Hydroelectric Powerplant

Power generation comes in many different varieties, with fission and cold fusion being the most important within Therron space. Nonetheless, Therrons do make use of renewable energy sources when possible, such as with this hydroelectric powerplant on Draconus. As Therron space continues to grow, so too will the energy needs of its inhabitants. Powerplants such as this will only become even more important in the future.

Colonies

Therron space is a vast and varied collection of planets. While many, such as Draconus, have been fully developed, others are still sparsely populated and lacking in resources. Therron colonies exist upon the fringes of Therron space, as many seek to make their fortune on lesser developed worlds. The life of a colonist is fraught with danger, and mortality rates on these "frontier worlds" remain far higher than on more developed planets.

Monuments

While most buildings on Draconus are practical in nature, some exist purely for their artistic merit. In particular, Draconus is home to a large number of monuments, monuments that commemorate key moments in Therron history. This example is a tribute to the first Therron spaceships, as it represents a stylized version of a rocket launch, specifically the exhaust from the rockets themselves. Of course, such technology is highly obsolete but nonetheless has a significant symbolic impact.

Walls

Whether to protect against the elements, wild animals, or enemy attacks, walls have been a part of Therron architecture since before the unification of the planet Draconus. This, of course, was a necessary part of living planetside at the time, as each of the city states that made up the planet's political body were constantly at war with one another. Naturally, the need for walls diminished somewhat once unification occurred but have now taken on a new role against pirate raids, interplanetary attacks from foreign powers and the occasional planetary rebellion. Walls are found on nearly every Therron planet, even the ones that have been colonized for centuries.

Universities

Even with all the advancements in science and technology, research continues across all avenues of Therron life. In particular, Therron universities seek to find the best and brightest among Therron space and use their talents for their own personal gain. Many distinguished Therron scientists have come from government-funded universities, and in return, they have received large grants from the Therron government. In Therron space, progress knows no limits, and there are rumors of universities engaging in shady, if not downright immoral, recruitment practices.

Drone Boat

Name: LM18 "Lamprey"
Type: Unmanned Surface Vehicle
Armament: Internal Explosive Payload
Propulsion: 4 Bladed Propellor (1)

The LM18 "Lamprey", is an unmanned surface vessel, capable of being remotely piloted or autonomously activated. Colloquiality, they are far more commonly known as "Drone Boats" due to their robotic nature. Essentially, they act as mobile naval mines. Once they detect a target, they will attempt to ram into it at full speed ahead, detonating on impact. Naturally, they are rather flimsy vehicles, and can easily be destroyed with small arms fire or electronically jammed.

Armament: One GRX-03 "ChemRail" Rifle OR One M38 Pulse Gun (mounted in the rear loading ramp), 6 "Mini" Vertical Launch Tubes
Propulsion: Twin Propellor Screws, Cavitation Bubbles

Fast, maneuverable and stealthy, SWATH Boats are a common sight within the Therron Aquatic Forces. Their uniquely shaped hulls and propulsion system allows each vessel to operate at high speeds, thanks in no small part to the cavitation bubbles the propellor systems generate. SWATH boats are lightly armed and armored, relying on their quick movement and inherent stealth features to stay alive. Oftentimes, they are escorted by Drone Boats.

Type: Ground Effect Vehicle
Armaments: Twin Tail Mounted Laser Turret, Four "Wing" Mounted Laser Cannons, 8 Vertical Launch Tubes OR 6 Heavy Torpedo Launchers
Space Capability: No
Slipspace Drive: No

Technically neither a hovercraft nor an airplane, the SH-80 "Stork" is nonetheless classified as a naval asset, due to the fact that it "flies" above the surface. As a ground effect vehicle, Storks are capable of reaching high speeds. They primarily operate over water, though they are capable of moving across ice fields, swamps, and plains, much like Therron Mudksimmers. Each Stork can carry 20 soldiers within its armored compartment.

Propulsion: Five Bladed, Variable Pitch Propellors (3), Heavy Turbopumps (4)

While repulsorlifts are the preferred method of powering Therron hovercraft, they are certainly not the only way of doing so. Instead, some Therron vehicles are powered by turbopumps, which create a cushion of air underneath the vehicle to glide on. While this method of hovering cannot match the speed and performance of repulsorlifts, it is far cheaper and more reliable in nature. LCACs come in many shapes and sizes; the Arbiter-Class being the largest of its type.

Vessels such as the IMI-90 are capable of maintaining maritime security while lending fire support to land-based forces. They are large enough to tackle open water while still retaining a decent element of maneuverability, although they are far to big to operate on smaller bodies of water. Their MHD Accelerators make these vessels nearly silent, and they are difficult to detect, although they do not have a cloaking drive.

While they can provide bombardment capabilities with their railgun and missile systems, their true armament lies with the large number of drone fighters and bombers that they carry. The ability to strike multiple targets simultaneously is a useful asset to have in the midst of battle, although their size limits their deployability to only the largest and deepest bodies of water.
