The Great Houses of Aydin

House Binici- Seated in Kadili, the Binici have roots back to the nomads of Essalanea. The most brutish but tough of the noble houses. They were and still are renowned for their horsemanship and resourcefulness. Forced to survive the harsh environment of the southern steppe. Their sigil is a horseman holding a spear on a yellow field. Under them serve the houses Olnek, Asik, Kirdar, and Ece.

House Aksoy- Hailing from Caglarca the Aksoy's are a merchant house. Making use of the well-positioned port city of Karasova and the mineral-rich mountain range to the north. They are the third richest of the houses, and they have ambitions to become the first. Their sigil is of a merchant ship filled with gold and jewels on a blue field. The houses under them, are the Ozer's. Safak's, Colax's, and the Ozsoy's.

House Yildiz- Seated in Yenisahra and its great city Adandik, the Yildiz are famous for their prosperity. Which lies in the soil of the two rivers, the Açık and the Batılı which provide fertile farmland that feeds most of Aydin's population. Alongside making them the second most wealthy house within the Sultanate. But they are newer to the noble scene only coming into prominence after usurping the previous house that stewarded the west. Their sigil is a golden star on a teal background and the houses below them are the houses Erim, Nadi, Uzor, and Yanket.

House Kaya/Kaminzskjas- Seated high in the mountains of Abyan, the Kaya/Kamin house are descendants of the Arrandish lords that ruled over the southern half of what used to be Yesil*. They are famed for their martial prowess and their history under the Kanvergisi*. They have served the Sultan's faithfully acting as his primary frontiersmen. They hold court to this day in their ancestral castle, high in the mountains of Abyan. Their sigil is a grey mountain on a dark green field and at its peak sits a golden Mehrabist crescent and a golden Arrandi sun. The houses under them are the houses of Kiraz/Sobansecu, Vural/Ankwisz, Levni/Bredzwa, and Altan/Gasztoldza.

House Balik- Seated in the province of SImyah, the Balik's started as fishermen and whalers who over a span of decades grew close with the neighboring house of Aksoy in Karasova. With the Balik's selling them raw materials and in return the Aksoy's selling them finished goods and foreign imports from across the sea. This relationship allowed them to seize control from another one of the older houses that used to rule Simyah. Their sigil is a turquoise whaler and a turquoise fisherman both displaying their catches on a brown field. Their pledged houses are the Caney's, Baylok's, and the Unal's.

House Nacar- Seated on the southwestern coast of Gokcen House Nacar is hailed for its part in building up the great cities and wonders that dot across Aydin. Uniquely this house intertwined itself with its neighbors. The Vivancan traders that settled nearby to their city of Acanoluk were integrated into the local culture. Which resulted in them now speaking a mixed combination of Aydini and Vivancan. Their sigil is a man in Vivancan conquistador armor holding a hammer in one hand and an arquebus in the other. A golden crescent marks his breastplate and he stands on a white field. Their sworn houses are the Kinali, Eral, Aval, and Cozen houses.

House Yilmaz- Another frontier house, the Yilmaz (seated in Harmason) were some of the last of the steppe peoples to be settled during Hakkan's conquest of Aydin. They are known for their steel working and status as the beating heartland of central Aydin alongside being the "Fields of a thousand triumphs" and the "Graveyard of forsaken souls" for the hundreds of battles that took place there over the centuries. Their house sigil is a curved blade piercing a red heart on a field of light orange. Their pledged houses are that of houses Asena, Sayyi, and Akkaz.

House Karga- Seated in Biave, house Karga is the poorest of the great houses. With much of the land being devoted to forestry and little else. They also serve as frontiersmen but do not hold the same prestige as house Kaya. Their sigil is a green fir tree on a grey field with a crow perched at the top of the tree. Their sworn houses are house Birsen, Demir, Acik, and Usta.

Kanvergisi*- The "blood tax" was a system put in place by Mustafa I to convert the population of Abyan to Mehrabism and provide trained soldiers for both his army and civil service. It used the forced conversion of Messianist boys to Mehrabism alongside educating them in the Aydini language and culture to cement dominance over the northern lords and provide the Sultanate hostages to keep them loyal.

Yesil*- Is most of modern-day southern Arrandal and the province of Abyan, which was conquered by the Sultanate but after two centuries of rule, several rebellions lead to the withdrawal of Aydini forces back to Abyan to maintain control over the mountains and their entrance into Aydin proper.
