Saintonge: banknotes, coins

Series XV of the Santonian Livre, released in 2019, feature a vertically-oriented front (obverse) and a horizontally-oriented back (reverse). For more information, click here!

The Santonian Livre banknotes are made out of polymer with features to aid the visually-impaired. Common features include a transparent window featuring the logo of Saintonge, a serial number located at two locations, and other security features (see below.) At the obverse is a historical figure from Saintonge's history (of which all but one are actually clerics) and the bible verse "Heureux le peuple dont l’Eternel est Dieu" ("Happy are the people whose God is the Lord." - Psalms 144:15). At the reverse is a historical scene from Saintonge's history and the bible verse Vous ne pouvez pas servir en même temps Dieu et l’Argent ("You cannot serve both God and money." - Matthew 6:24). Both bible verses occurring in the banknotes remind holders that money isn't all that matters, or maybe the Royal Bank of Saintonge really likes to troll people.

Despite the back of the largest-denomination banknote featuring a partially naked person, the design was uncontroversial in Saintonge.

Santonian coins are relatively simple. Because of Saintonge's aversion to having faces in coins (a byproduct of the Santonian Revolution), the front of the coins only feature the denomination. The back features the logo of Saintonge.

The Post-War Series of Prydanian Kross banknotes were released in 2018, originally printed in Goyanes. They are made of cotton paper and have dimensions of 151 × 85 mm. They are based on pre-Syndicalist kross notes in terms of dimensions and style, but with updated reverse designs and mostly new portraits.

Security measures include a number of watermarks, microprinting, and constellation-style subdued imagery.

Obverse: King Rikard III Loðbrók, King of Prydania during the Wars of the Callisean Republic, led the successful defence of Prydania and later asserted Prydanian sovereignty when UKAG dissolved shortly after the War.
Reverse: Wilderness scene, a family of stags, the national animal of Prydania and symbol of the Royal family.

Obverse: Tommy Lind, author and anti-fascist activist during the Fascist Wars

Obverse: Thor Kragh, Prydanian painter from the mid 19th century, master of the naturalist school
Reverse: Wilderness scene painted by Kragh, Prydania's wilderness including stags by a lake.

Obverse: King Vortgyn I Loðbrók, first King of a united Prydania, Patron Saint of Slaying Werewolves in most Messianist denominations
Reverse: Scenic depiction of Stormurholmr, where Vortgyn launched his campaign of unification from.

Prydania's current series of Kross coins were introduced in 2018, along with the above bills. They were originally minted in Saintonge. Processes are being undertake to move the printing of the bills and minting of the coins to Prydania, in as timely a manner as would be responsible.
The coins, perhaps due to their minting in Saintonge, reflect the Santonian desire for simplicity. While not sharing Saintonge's distaste for portraits on coins, this series of Prydanian coins features a few standard motifs that lean into the simplistic design aesthetic.
King Tobias III Loðbrók's portrait appears on the x2, x5, x10, and x20 coins, and elements of the Prydanian coat of arms are used throughout the series.
