Above Aydin
Leopold was sitting in a comfortable, leather chair, in the large jet, known to the Royals as "the little bird". It was a very luxurious aircraft, designed to Leopold's personal tastes. Leopold spun around in his chair, now facing towards a window, rather than the desk behind him. He peered out of the window, looking at the blue sky which surrounded the aircraft. He looked down slightly, and saw the clouds below. He looked closely, and noticed that the aircraft was descending. He thought to himself. How long would it be?
Leopold turned around again, now gesturing towards a flight attendant, who walked over. "Yes, Your Majesty?" She asked.
"How long will we be?" Leopold asked.
"Not long, Sire. We have entered their airspace, and you will be..." she was interrupted by the King's Private Secretary, Thibaud Mertens.
"Your Majesty", he said, "excuse me for the interruption." He walked forwards, causing the flight attendant to step aside, lowering her head slightly. Thibaud slipped a folder forwards, letting it slide onto Leopold's desk. Leopold picked the folder up, opening it. He began reading. Thibaud then began reading out loud.
"So, you will be landing in a town called..." before he finished, he was cut off.
"I can read, Thibaud." Leopold said, his eyes not moving from the folder.
"Sorry, Your Majesty." Thibaud said, stepping back a bit.
"Also, Thibaud, apologise to the lady for the way you barged in there." Leopold gestured with his left hand towards the flight attendant.
"Yes, Sire." He said, turning to face her. "I'm sorry." He said. The flight attendant shrugged slightly.
"It's fine." She said.
"You can leave for now, Thibaud. Thank you." Leopold finished.
"Very well, Your Majesty." He said. He bowed his head, and, with the nod of approval from Leopold, turned his back on the King and walked out. Normally, turning your back on the King was an outrageous thing to do, but because they were on a plane, it was hard not to.
"So." Leopold said, turning his seat to face the flight attendant. "You can go, if you'd like. Apologies for that ignorant bastard." Leopold gestured to the door.
"It's fine, Your Majesty." Said the flight attendant. She curtseyed, and as she turned, Leopold spoke once more.
"What was your name?"
"It's Elsa, Sire." She replied.
"Take care, Elisa." Leopold said, sitting back in his leather chair, chucking the folder onto the desk. He looked out of the window once more. They had descended through the clouds. He could see the ground below. Leopold estimated that within ten to fifteen minutes, the plane would be on the ground, in the town of Konya.
Leopold ran his fingers through his hair, attempting to get the loose strands of hair out of his eyes. He ran his fingers over his cheek, fiddling with a scar he had. He waited. Leopold let the time pass, occasionally taking a sip from a water bottle which sat on the desk in-front of him. He counted the minutes, glancing at a watch on his wrist every now and again. Leopold, after a while, glanced out of the window. The plane was coming in to land. Leopold sat back, knowing soon, he would step foot onto Aydini soil. He would be the first King in Lanorth's history to do so.
The plane made contact with the ground, and began slowing. Within seconds, it had come to a complete stop. Leopold stood up. Leopold exited the room, walking through the corridors, somewhat wider than that of an average commercial airliner. He continued through, reaching the exit of the plane. As the door was about to be opened, Elisa stepped forward. "It's rather sunny out, Your Majesty. You might want to wear these." She put her hand out, offering him a pair of sunglasses.
"Thank you." Leopold said, taking the sunglasses from her. He put them on. He ran his fingers through his hair once more, forcing the loose strands out of his face. With his sleeves already rolled up, and two buttons on his shirt by his neck undone, he gestured to the door. It was opened. Leopold felt a wave of heat hit him. Leopold smiled gently. A bright light from the outside caused Leopold to squint slightly. Leopold stepped out onto the stairs, descending to the ground below.
Leopold stepped down the stairs, one by one, as he looked to the parade of honour guardsmen standing to attention. He looked around further as he walked, seeing the foreign minister, Doruk Adem. Leopold glanced behind him, as his security detail followed on. Leopold rolled his eyes.
Leopold paused, as he reached the last step. He placed out his foot carefully, before stepping down. He was officially on Aydini soil. He looked towards the parade of honour guardsmen. He walked past them, admiring their uniforms. Leopold then turned to the foreign minister. "Mr Adem, I presume?" Leopold said, approaching.
"Your Majesty." He replied. Leopold offered his hand out, and Mr Adem took it, as they shook hands firmly.
"It's lovely to finally be here." Leopold exclaimed. The heat was incredible. Leopold had never felt anything like it, not even during heatwaves. "The weather is remarkable." Leopold said, smiling.
"Different from home?" Doruk asked.
"Most definitely." Leopold said. The two chuckled.
"Anywho", Doruk began, turning towards a car behind him, "there is a car, which will take you to a resort, along the coast." Leopold glanced at it.
"I see." Leopold replied. Leopold turned to the parade once more, admiring it. "Should I go now?"
"That's up to, Sir." Doruk replied.
"Well, I don't want to waste your time." Leopold replied. Really, Leopold didn't want to stay out in the heat too long. "I should probably go now." Leopold replied, the heat getting to him/
"Very well." The foreign minister replied. "Goodbye now, Your Majesty." He finished. The two shook hands firmly once more, before Leopold walked towards the car. The door was opened by one of Leopold's security guards, as Leopold got into the car. He sat back against the comfortable seats, as he opened the window. As the door was closed, Leopold patted the drivers' seat.
"We can go now." Leopold said. The car engine started, before the car began driving. Leopold, for now, sat back and waited, as the car drove to its destination. Leopold looked outside of the window, as the car drove through the vibrant town of Konya, as Leopold watched the many people go about their daily lives.
Leopold reached into his pocket, taking out a tin of cigarettes. He placed a cigarette between his lips, holding it there. He pocketed the tin, taking out a lighter from a different pocket. He lit the cigarette, and pocketed the lighter. He opened the window, as he glanced up at the blue sky, with the glare of the sun beaming as it rose. It was still early morning, and Leopold still felt the heat was intense. Leopold took a draw from his cigarette, gently exhaling in the general direction of the window.
Within fifteen minutes, or around about, they had arrived at the luxurious resort where Leopold would be staying. A servant opened the door for Leopold, as he stepped out. He ran his fingers through his hair, as the air grew slightly cooler, as the sun now set. Leopold shook the hands of a few people waiting for him.
As Leopold turned to the entrance, he made the brief assumption that Osman was not yet here, which was good, as Leopold wanted to see his room. Leopold walked inside of the hotel, admiring the glamorous décor. Leopold gestured to his security detail, asking them to politely piss off. Leopold, quite an independent man, preferred not to be tailed everywhere by his security detail. Leopold turned to a member of staff.
"Could you take me to my room?" Leopold asked, his hands in his pockets.
"Of course." The reply came. "This way."
Leopold followed the member of staff, as they made their way through the resort. Leopold couldn't help but admire the general luxury of the building and its interior. After a while of walking, Leopold was handed a keycard, as the member of staff gestured to a door.
"You'll be staying in here, Your Majesty." Leopold was told. Leopold walked over to the door, scanning the card. He pushed the door open. Leopold walked in, closing the door. The inside was just to Leopold's tastes. Leopold felt the corner of his mouth twitching. He could not help but smile. Leopold had space to do whatever he wanted whilst he waited for Osman. And finally, he could be alone, without much disturbance.
Peace and quiet.
"Where do I begin?" Leopold murmured to himself, as he began walking around. He walked over to the bed, which Leopold could tell, as carefully made. He sat down on it, in awe. Leopold had never seen anything like it in Lanorth. From where Leopold stayed in Constantine Palace, it felt like the Palace was 100 years in the past, compared to this. Leopold walked over to a table, where many fruits from all over the world sat in a wooden bowl. Leopold picked up some grapes, and ate a few. Leopold then sat down on the bed again. He ran his fingers through his hair, before lacing his fingers together.
Now, Leopold must wait. He knew Osman would be arriving soon. It was all merely a case of waiting. Leopold smiled once more, thinking of, for the first time, meeting the man.
