I would like to play, although I would need to be taught how.

your welcome!Well there we go. Thank you!
I see you signed up for Mafia.
I'll probably host a game of Detectives after Mafia and then would be interested in hearing what games people enjoy the most.
its just like mafia
whats that aboutWerewolf would be a good addition.
The game of Werewolf is a game similar to mafia, where a sleepy little village is being attacked by werewolves and has to defend itself. Every day, people get to vote on who to lynch.whats that about
The Roles:Essential Roles
The Werewolf (Number depends. Generally not more than 3.)
At night, picks one person to kill. This person dies. If there is more than one werewolf, they will come to a decision via consensus.
Winning condition - the werewolves outnumber or are equal in number to the villagers
The Villager (Everyone else - generally at least 2 or 3)
Have no special abilities.
Winning condition - all the werewolves are dead
Non-Essential roles
The Witch (1)
Has two potions - healing and poison. They can be used once per game. Every night, the witch is informed who the werewolves will kill. They can choose to heal that person. Also, every night they have a chance to use their poison potion to kill someone.
Winning condition - all the werewolves are dead
Cupid (1)
The first night, gets to bond two people together with love. If one of those two people (who know who they are) dies for any reason, the other one is revealed to be their lover and also dies.
Winning condition - all the werewolves are dead
The Fortune Teller (1)
Gets to ask the identity of anyone still alive one per night. The answers are either "Yes" (meaning the person is a werewolf) or "No" (meaning they are not).
Winning condition - all the werewolves are dead
The Tanner (1)
The Tanner hates their life so much that they want to die.
Winning condition - they are dead. (Note that if the Tanner dies the game only ends if their death causes the werewolves to outnumber or be equal in number to the villagers)
coolThe game of Werewolf is a game similar to mafia, where a sleepy little village is being attacked by werewolves and has to defend itself. Every day, people get to vote on who to lynch.
Here is how a round of play goes:
- Night begins.
- The Werewolf/Werewolves decide who to kill.
- Other roles that take actions at night do so.
- Day begins.
- The host informs everyone who was killed. If the Werewolves outnumber or are equal in number to the villagers, they win and the game ends there.
- People get time to discuss.
- People get to nominate other people to be lynched
- Voting occurs. Whoever is lynched dies, and their role is revealed. If it was the last living werewolf, the villagers win and the game ends. If the Werewolves outnumber or are equal in number to the villagers, they win and the game ends.
kMechanically, what's the difference between Werewolf and Mafia? From my understanding, it's just different flavour text. I note that you have a number of roles with actions different from what we are currently using in Mafia. I do plan to bring in more power roles as people play more and get a better understanding of the game—I limited the roles at the start to try to limit any confusion—I will probably bring in more roles in the next round (such as the Mayor which receives an extra vote, Escort which can prevent someone from using an action at night, etc.). My favourite games to host are those where everyone has a special ability.
I am definitely open to bringing in more games that are mechanically distinct and plan to do so (eg. Resistance and Secret Hitler).
On the topic of the next upcoming game, I think that once the current Mafia game gets closer to a resolution, I will probably open up sign-ups for another game of Mafia and perhaps one of Detectives. There are a number of interested players so I think having just a game of Detectives which only permits five players would be limiting. I am preferring Mafia over Assassin in the Palace since Mafia games tend to last longer here, are more dynamic (at least from my perspective), and more players can have power roles. I am open to suggestions by those interested in participating.
