Is 8 percent of 50 equal to 50 percent of 8?
...or, in mathematical language,...
8% * 50 = 50% * 8 or 0.08 * 50 = 0.50 * 8
...is YES!! Thanks to the associative property of multiplication...
Let us translate 8 and 50 into variables x and y. Here, "x-percent" would be x/100 and "y-percent" would be y/100.
0.08 * 50 = (8/100) * 50
= (x/100) * y
= x * (1/100) * y
= x * (y/100)
= 8 * (50/100)
= 8 * 0.50
= 4
