[2020-05-05 03:00:08]
@mcmasterdonia : Hello and welcome to the Delegate Debate for the May 2020 General Election. I will be one of the debate moderators along with my learned colleague, Minister of Communications
@Bobberino. The rules of this debate are simple and similar to last years debate. After the opening statements, each candidate will have two minutes to answer each question. They may yield their time if the full time is not required. After the conclusion of each question round, we will allow two minutes of general discussion amongst all candidates. At the conclusion of the debate, we will prepare and publish the transcript on The North Pacific's regional forum.
[2020-05-05 03:00:23]
@mcmasterdonia :
@Mall please present your opening statement, you have two minutes.
[2020-05-05 03:00:43]
@Mall : Hello everyone. I'll keep this short and sweet. We all know that, if I weren't running in this election,
@Prydania would win in a landslide. The other candidates are boring and so irrelevant as to be bordering on non-existent in the minds of the voters. So the voters have two choice: they can vote for the normal, run of the mill "yay the region is great and we can all work together to make it even better" candidate (
@Prydania), or you can vote for me and we can actually have fun for a few months. Then, once it's all done, you can pick up the pieces and decide if you want to go back to the way things were. It's not often you get the chance to actually have fun in this game, but the offer is on the table.
[2020-05-05 03:00:49]
@Bobberino : Do you cede your time?
[2020-05-05 03:01:00]
@Mall : I graciously yield the remainder of my time to my less gifted opponents
[2020-05-05 03:01:04]
@mcmasterdonia : Thank you
@Mall.
[2020-05-05 03:01:08]
@Mall : You're welcome
[2020-05-05 03:01:10]
@mcmasterdonia : @Vote Gorundu #KTNPG please present your opening statement
[2020-05-05 03:02:16]
@Gorundu : Because of
@mcmasterdonia's term limits, the region needs a leader to continue taking the region towards the direction it's been heading. Although I'm not nearly as experienced McM, I believe in my past year in TNP I have shown myself to be a willing and capable worker, and I believe I have the right ideas to take TNP above and beyond.
[2020-05-05 03:02:35]
@Bobberino : Do you cede your time?
[2020-05-05 03:02:38]
@Gorundu : yes
[2020-05-05 03:02:49]
@mcmasterdonia : Thank you Gorundu.
@Praetor please present your opening statement. You have 2 minutes.
[2020-05-05 03:03:11]
@Praetor : First off, I would like to thank
@mcmasterdonia and
@Bobberino for organizing this debate, especially on such short notice. I am @Praetor—Praeceps gameside—and currently serving as Cards Guildmaster and Gameside Advocate. I have also served as Minister of Foreign Affairs as well as participating in the past in every Ministry from the North Pacific Army to helping recruit and integrat in Home Affairs. I have demonstrated over the past few months the ability to work with a team to implement creative ideas and receive amazing results (dozens of new citizens) with the Cards Guild. I plan to take this approach to the rest of the region as Delegate. Most notably, through having the government organize social deduction games. I will work on putting together a team which is able to innovate throughout the Ministries and for the better of our community. This will be facilitated by ensuring Executive Staff applications are accepted more quickly than they currently are and opening up applications for Ministers to get the best talent possible. During the term, the Executive will maintain transparency, I will make weekly updates to the region. I cede the remainder of my time.
[2020-05-05 03:03:21]
@mcmasterdonia : Thanks
@Praetor.
[2020-05-05 03:03:29]
@mcmasterdonia :
@Prydania please present your opening statement, you have two minutes.
[2020-05-05 03:05:13]
@Bobberino : 30 seconds
[2020-05-05 03:05:45]
@Prydania : Hello TNP, it's Pry.
I have been serving in TNP in one form or another since early 2018, and I've spent the last year as Minister of Culture. My work, both as Culture Minister and as a RP mod have led to me realizing the sheer potential we have as an online community.
A Pry Delegacy will promise a community first approach and an extensive, aggressive foreign policy platform.
Thank you all.
[2020-05-05 03:05:59]
@mcmasterdonia : Thank you Pry.
@Rocketdog please present your opening statement, you have two minutes.
[2020-05-05 03:07:29]
@Bobberino : 30 seconds
[2020-05-05 03:07:48]
@Rocketdog : Hello all, I am
@Rocketdog (Xagill gameside). I have experience in the executive and hope to bring it to a new level. My platform consolidates the existing projects that have been running under McM's term as well as trying to collaborate between ministries. I hope my welcoming nature can bring the ideas I have bought up to light.
[2020-05-05 03:08:04]
@mcmasterdonia : Thank you
@Rocketdog.
[2020-05-05 03:08:15]
@mcmasterdonia :
@Yuno you're up, please present your opening statement. You have 2 minutes.
[2020-05-05 03:08:24]
@Yuno : ok
[2020-05-05 03:08:27]
@mcmasterdonia : Sorry, wrong account.
[2020-05-05 03:08:34]
@Bobberino : "Do you cede your time?"
[2020-05-05 03:09:31]
@Yuno : Greetings, thank you for taking the time to look at my election campaign and remember to vote when the time comes. I'm a very excited candidate running for delegate! Read everyone's campaign, **VOTE** for the delegates and speakers and vice delegates, then hold them accountable to do the goals they set for the next 4 months if they win. (P.S if anyone needs any help with any game mechanics, or government stuff or programs or free stuff, I have studied a lot so DM me.) I am looking forward to working with you all! Please do not miss voting. Thank you I'm done
[2020-05-05 03:09:43]
@Bobberino : Do you cede your time?
[2020-05-05 03:10:00]
@mcmasterdonia : She said she is done, so I assume so.
[2020-05-05 03:10:06]
@mcmasterdonia : Thank you all. With opening statements now complete, we will turn to the first question of the debate.
[2020-05-05 03:10:26] @mcmasterdonia : The question is "Why do you want to be Delegate of The North Pacific, and why now?". @Praetor you may go first, you have two minutes to respond.
[2020-05-05 03:12:04]
@Praetor : I want to be the Delegate of The North Pacific as I have ideas throughout the Executive which will benefit the community as a whole. In the position of the Executive, I am able to enact these changes. I believe my work with the Cards Guild has demonstrated this ability to enact positive changes. Additionally, given recent circumstances, I have a lot of extra spare time on my hands which I would like to use to better the region. I cede the remainder of my time.
[2020-05-05 03:12:17]
@mcmasterdonia : Thank you
@Praetor.
[2020-05-05 03:12:25]
@mcmasterdonia : @Birb (
@Yuno) you may go next. You have two minutes.
[2020-05-05 03:13:25]
@Yuno : I want to become delegate because I want to telegram 17000 people without spending stamps to advertise things i want to do and free publicity
[2020-05-05 03:13:34]
@Yuno : thank you very much
[2020-05-05 03:13:40]
@mcmasterdonia : Thank you
@Yuno.
[2020-05-05 03:13:45]
@mcmasterdonia :
@Mall you may go next. Two minutes.
[2020-05-05 03:14:56]
@Mall : The North Pacific is the only Feeder dumb enough to let me run for the position on an honest platform of couping the region. So... by default here we are. Now because I was drunk and applied for citizenship just in time for this election.
[2020-05-05 03:15:03]
@mcmasterdonia : Do you yield remaining time?
[2020-05-05 03:15:09]
@Mall : I'll consider it
[2020-05-05 03:15:09]
@Mall : yes
[2020-05-05 03:15:20]
@mcmasterdonia : Thanks
@Mall.
@Rocketdog you may go next, you have two minutes.
[2020-05-05 03:16:22]
@Rocketdog : I have said privately to myself to be delegate sometime in 2019, extended that to 2020. So I guess this is the election cycle I to campaign in. I want my delegacy to strengthen what the executive is and what it can be in the future. I want my delegacy to have positive change on the community now and in the future.
[2020-05-05 03:16:32]
@mcmasterdonia : Do you yield remaining time?
[2020-05-05 03:16:35]
@Rocketdog : Yes
[2020-05-05 03:16:44]
@mcmasterdonia : Thank you. @Vote Gorundu #KTNPG you are up next. Two minutes.
[2020-05-05 03:17:31]
@Gorundu : As I said in my opening statement, I believe I have the experience, both within the region and in interregional diplomacy in my current capacity as Minister of WA Affairs, to deliver a good program for the region and continue the work by
@mcmasterdonia in the last two terms. I believe I have good ideas on both fronts, within the region and interregionally, to further TNP's community and its influence abroad.
I'd also like to take this to ask a further question - Is the moderator
@Bobberino demonstrating clear bias towards a certain candidate?
[2020-05-05 03:17:40]
@Gorundu : I yield my remaining time
[2020-05-05 03:17:46]
@mcmasterdonia : Thank you Gorundu.
[2020-05-05 03:17:52]
@mcmasterdonia :
@Prydania it is your turn. You have two minutes.
[2020-05-05 03:18:18]
@Prydania : Why now? Well after years of saying "no" to any suggestion I run for public office I've decided to do so because I feel like I have a vision for the region that I feel will do a lot of good. I feel like, after a year of serving on the Executive staff, I have the experience and know-how necessary to fulfill that vision. My tenure as Minister of Culture bares that out, I feel. Additionally? This term has coincides with my summer break as a teacher, and I believe I'll be able to utilize this time to focus on my duties as lead RP mod, the Delegacy, as well as my RP projects.
And what will we all do with that time? Well we're going to revitalize the game server, we're going to emphasize community above all else, and we will pursue an aggressive foreign policy that unapologetically asserts our values, our allies' values, and our sovereignty across NationStates.
[2020-05-05 03:18:31]
@mcmasterdonia : Do you yield remaining time?
[2020-05-05 03:18:31]
@Bobberino : Do you cede your time?
[2020-05-05 03:18:35]
@mcmasterdonia : ha!
[2020-05-05 03:18:39]
@Bobberino : ok liberal
[2020-05-05 03:18:52]
@Prydania : yes
[2020-05-05 03:18:59]
@Bobberino : OK
[2020-05-05 03:19:22]
@mcmasterdonia : With that completed, we have two minutes of discussion time for this question. You may use this time to respond to other candidates answers.
[2020-05-05 03:20:54]
@Mall : tl;dr Yuno is a competing meme candidate,
@Prydania is boring, gorundu is salty that the moderators love me,
@Rocketdog is here too. You can vote for all or any of them next time. Who cares? Let's have fun @Mall4Del2020
[2020-05-05 03:21:09]
@Gorundu : ok bro
[2020-05-05 03:21:11]
@Yuno : I'm not a meme candidate
@Mall vote
[2020-05-05 03:21:21]
@Rocketdog : dont mention me its ok
[2020-05-05 03:21:26]
@Rocketdog : im just here
[2020-05-05 03:21:30]
@Gorundu : as I said, clear bias smh, fire Bob pls
[2020-05-05 03:21:33]
@mcmasterdonia : Time is almost up.
[2020-05-05 03:21:50]
@Yuno : Uh oh, can you give us another minute.........
[2020-05-05 03:21:51]
@Gorundu : I think this is pretty much an extension of the opening statement, so there's not much discussion to be had there
[2020-05-05 03:21:58]
@Yuno : Or that ^^
[2020-05-05 03:22:02]
@mcmasterdonia : We will move onto the next question.
[2020-05-05 03:22:04]
@Bobberino : 30 seconds.
[2020-05-05 03:22:06]
@Bobberino : Ah okay
[2020-05-05 03:22:09]
@Gorundu : lol
[2020-05-05 03:22:14] @Bobberino : As Delegate you are the Chief Executive and the buck stops with you, if one of your appointees is not performing their job adequately, how would you address this issue?
[2020-05-05 03:22:34]
@mcmasterdonia : Up first is
@Prydania. You have two minutes.
[2020-05-05 03:23:44]
@Prydania : So it depends. If I feel that the problem is one that can be worked through? I would reach out and see what needs to be done to resolve whatever the problem is. If it's a case of the appointee just not doing the job they were appointed to? I'd remove them from the post and replace them with a candidate I feel would do the job.
[2020-05-05 03:23:59]
@mcmasterdonia : Do you cede remaining time?
[2020-05-05 03:24:03]
@Prydania : yes
[2020-05-05 03:24:11]
@mcmasterdonia : Up next is
@Rocketdog. You have two minutes.
[2020-05-05 03:25:30]
@Rocketdog : I would talk to them, see if they can continue and check on them in a weeks time. If nothing has happened then its time for them to step down and appoint someone else that I can do the job.
[2020-05-05 03:25:39]
@mcmasterdonia : Do you cede remaining time?
[2020-05-05 03:25:52]
@Rocketdog : yes
[2020-05-05 03:25:55]
@mcmasterdonia : Alright, up next is
@Mall you have two minutes.
[2020-05-05 03:26:29]
@Mall : If you appoint someone and they aren't doing their job, you fire them. If your appointee needs to be sat down and "talked to" then you appointed an incompetent idiot and it's your fault.
[2020-05-05 03:26:42]
@Mall : I cede the remainder of my time and donate it to my opponents, they need it.
[2020-05-05 03:26:47]
@mcmasterdonia : Thank you
@Mall.
[2020-05-05 03:26:55]
@mcmasterdonia : Up next is @Birb (
@Yuno). You have two minutes.
[2020-05-05 03:28:28]
@Bobberino : 30 seconds
[2020-05-05 03:28:42]
@Yuno : **Question:** As Delegate you are the Chief Executive and the buck stops with you, if one of your appointees is not performing their job adequately, how would you address this issue?
**Answer:** That depends on whether an appointee is "not performing their job adequately." That's opinion-based.
I'd just hire more Apointees. My philosophy is "The more Staffs, the better."
If the Appointee is always causing drama, picking fights, insulting innocent people, scheming how to poke holes in other Staff members' honor, then I will DM them to "keep it out of the server" or ban them. But that is very unlikely to happen. So I will most likely just hire more staff members.
If "not performing their job adequately" means complete inactivity, like they are completely inactive and never talk or anything, then I will just demask them as they won't notice. If they notice, then I'll tell them I demasked them by accident and say "do you still want to work?" and add them back. The philosophy is more staff fills in more oversights.
[2020-05-05 03:28:50]
@mcmasterdonia : Thank you
@Yuno.
[2020-05-05 03:28:57]
@mcmasterdonia : Up next is @Vote Gorundu #KTNPG. Two minutes.
[2020-05-05 03:30:17]
@Gorundu : ~~Firstly, I would like to reiterate moderator
@Bobberino's blatant favouritism towards a certain candidate~~
Firstly, I assume by "inadequate" it means the official is inactive in their duties. This is a question on two fronts. Firstly there are Ministers and other executive officials who I would have direct control over. In that case, I will try to find out why the appointee is not performing their job adequately, and if they could improve on their current performance. If not, I would ask them to resign, because firing people doesn't sound very nice. If the appointee is actually in a Regional-Assembly confirmed position, then I would imagine there would likely be a recall motion or a significant sentiment for that, so I would leave it up to the RA to decide. I cede my remaining time.
[2020-05-05 03:30:33]
@mcmasterdonia : Thank you Gorundu.
@Praetor you're up next, two minutes.
[2020-05-05 03:30:55]
@Praetor : Ideally, we can prevent these situations from ever happening through clear expectations and transparency. The best way to evaluate performance is through having performance metrics and have the individual regularly report to the region on their progress. This identifies any potential issues early. If it does arrive, it is first addressed by approaching the individual involved for an open discussion on the performance problems (lack of time, mismatched skill set, etc.). If this is unable to be addressed, then it is necessary for a change in the person in the position. I cede the remainder of my time.
[2020-05-05 03:31:03]
@Bobberino : Thank you
@Praetor.
[2020-05-05 03:31:15]
@mcmasterdonia : Thank you. We will now have two minutes to discuss this question generally amongst all candidates. Proceed.
[2020-05-05 03:32:27]
@Mall : tl;dr The other candidates apparently plan on appointing people who they don't think will be able to do the job, and need to have their hands held and given pep talks every five minutes. My government will be a model of efficiency.
[2020-05-05 03:32:37]
@Bobberino : 30 seconds
[2020-05-05 03:32:40]
@Rocketdog : what do candidates think about LoA, yes or no?
[2020-05-05 03:32:43]
@Gorundu : I find Yuno's approach of "appointing more people" quite odd, I must say.
[2020-05-05 03:32:44]
@Mall : I cede everyone else's time
[2020-05-05 03:32:45]
@Praetor : As Delegate, it is important to work towards fostering the next leaders of the region, as such, I believe it is inappropriate to proceed straight to firing individuals. It is more constructive to correct the issues present.
[2020-05-05 03:32:51]
@Prydania : I would say, in reference to Prateor's answer, that sometimes these metrics are not failproof. If you wait for reports to catch inactivity you're already losing time.
You need to be able to adapt, and not wait for benchmarks to fail or come by to address issues.
[2020-05-05 03:33:11]
@Mall : ^Lame
[2020-05-05 03:33:13]
@Praetor : That's why we would have regular reports.
[2020-05-05 03:33:17]
@Bobberino : Time. Please post what you have.
[2020-05-05 03:33:26] @mcmasterdonia : The next question is "What do you believe is the greatest threat facing the region currently and what would you do to address this?"
[2020-05-05 03:33:33]
@mcmasterdonia : @Vote Gorundu #KTNPG you are up first. You have two minutes.
[2020-05-05 03:34:32]
@Bobberino : 30 seconds
[2020-05-05 03:34:47]
@Gorundu : I don't think there is a great threat facing the region. We are in a tremendously stable time security wise, and politically we have healthy disagreements over issues. Sorry,
@Mall, I didn't mention you. Wait, I just did.
[2020-05-05 03:34:53]
@Bobberino : Time
[2020-05-05 03:35:02]
@mcmasterdonia : Alright.
@Praetor you are up next. Two minutes.
[2020-05-05 03:36:14]
@Praetor : The greatest threat to the region is that over the past while, we have a spate of uncompetitive elections. This Delegacy election gives me hope as it looks to be quite engaging. However, the election of Vice Delegate and Speaker as well as previous Delegate elections have been uncompetitive in the past. In order to address this, I will work on furthering expanding our community. The Cards Guild has brought in dozens of new citizens. Working on building a GA community and social deduction games will help to expand the electorate and number of potential candidates.
[2020-05-05 03:36:24]
@Bobberino : Do you cede your time?
[2020-05-05 03:36:43]
@Praetor : Yes, I cede the remainder.
[2020-05-05 03:36:53]
@mcmasterdonia : Thank you. Up next is
@Prydania. You have two minutes.
[2020-05-05 03:36:56]
@Prydania : The greatest threat facing this region is
@Mall because he wants to destroy the region and we're letting him run
Aside from that? The CCD coup proved our defensive capabilities are quite extensive. I would say, though, that the biggest external threat would be the potential for a Pacific/TSP alliance, should they succeed in forming a formidable voting bloc in the WA. Which is one reason I feel like we need an aggressive stance in both WALL and the WA as a whole.
[2020-05-05 03:37:05]
@Prydania : I cede my time
[2020-05-05 03:37:13]
@mcmasterdonia : Thank you Pry.
[2020-05-05 03:37:22]
@mcmasterdonia : Up next is
@Rocketdog. You have two minutes.
[2020-05-05 03:38:02]
@Rocketdog : Is it
@Mall? Maybe I don’t know. I’ll let the Vice Delegate decide. Otherwise I think that TNP is stable and there are not major threats facing the region.
[2020-05-05 03:38:05]
@Rocketdog : yield
[2020-05-05 03:38:10]
@mcmasterdonia : Thank you
[2020-05-05 03:38:16]
@mcmasterdonia : Up next is @Birb (
@Yuno). You have two minutes.
[2020-05-05 03:39:39]
@Yuno : **Question:**
The next question is "What do you believe is the greatest threat facing the region currently and what would you do to address this?"
**Answer:**
just be careful with Endorsements. Also the core Admins going inactive/abandoning the region would be bad.
.............Also another threat is, you should expect to have your DMs flooded a lot.
[2020-05-05 03:39:49]
@Yuno : ok i'm done)
[2020-05-05 03:39:52]
@mcmasterdonia : Okay thank you
[2020-05-05 03:39:54]
@Bobberino : Thank you Yuno.
[2020-05-05 03:39:57]
@mcmasterdonia : Up next is
@Mall
[2020-05-05 03:39:58]
@mcmasterdonia : Two minutes.
[2020-05-05 03:41:00]
@Mall : Me, followed by Elu going on an absolute bender and deleting the entire region. All the other candidate's are in a tough spot because I said "
@Mall" in the VC so they all struggled with whether to steal my joke or not. Dummies.
[2020-05-05 03:41:13]
@Bobberino : Do you cede the remainder of your time?
[2020-05-05 03:41:15]
@Mall : To address it I would get Elu into AA
[2020-05-05 03:41:19]
@Mall : yes
[2020-05-05 03:41:27]
@mcmasterdonia : Once again there is two minutes of discussion time, feel free to respond to your opponents answers.
[2020-05-05 03:41:33]
@Prydania : In response to the idea that uncompetitive elections are a threat to TNP...I disagree. I've been in NS since 2006. I've seen engagement, even within singular communities, rise and fall. There are always peaks and valleys, and I think fretting over what may be a mere slow period because of one unremarkable election cycle is a bit hyperbolic.
[2020-05-05 03:41:44]
@Gorundu :
@Mall, you didn't say how you would address the threat of yourself.
[2020-05-05 03:41:45]
@Praetor : The South Pacific is a treatied ally of our region and has been for quite some time. TSP entering a world assembly cooperation agreement with The Pacific should not be a cause of concern as WALL currently well outweighs their voting power. Additionally, rather than acting aggressively against The South Pacific, I would prefer to seek cooperation with our ally.
[2020-05-05 03:42:06]
@Mall : Gorundu fite me bruh
[2020-05-05 03:42:14]
@Gorundu : I would also firmly disagree with
@Prydania and TSP being a threat.
[2020-05-05 03:42:27]
@Praetor : Uncompetitive elections are threatening as they limit the potential of the region as there is an absence of debate on how the regio nshould go.
[2020-05-05 03:42:28]
@Prydania :
@Praetor, it's possible to both work with TSP and also work to weaken any bloc they have with The Pacific
[2020-05-05 03:42:29]
@Gorundu : Clearly the solution is vote me to take you out
@Mall
[2020-05-05 03:42:48]
@Yuno : Wow you've been on NS since 2006!
@Prydania
[2020-05-05 03:42:49]
@Mall : TNP is impervious to external attack, so the answer is really just me. The elections aren't competitive, that's why all these scrubs are running. Because McMaster isn't so this is their chance.
[2020-05-05 03:43:00]
@Praetor : I don't believe we should look to be weakening our ally.
[2020-05-05 03:43:01]
@Prydania : @Birb (
@Yuno) sadly
I am old
[2020-05-05 03:43:04]
@Bobberino : 30 seconds
[2020-05-05 03:43:05]
@Gorundu :
@Prydania, we have signed non-aggression pacts in the past, when have these ever been interpreted as a threat by others?
[2020-05-05 03:43:22]
@Prydania : weakening TSP's alliance with the Pacific does not weaken TSP
[2020-05-05 03:43:25]
@Prydania : just the Pacific
[2020-05-05 03:43:28]
@Mall :
@Praetor taking the pro NPO stance, stunning the audience.
@Praetor looking like an NPO plant.
[2020-05-05 03:43:32]
@Yuno : This is crazy
[2020-05-05 03:43:34]
@Rocketdog : I would agree with Pry that uncompetitive elections aren't a threat
[2020-05-05 03:43:39]
@Bobberino : Time
[2020-05-05 03:43:46]
@mcmasterdonia : Alright, we will go to the next question
[2020-05-05 03:43:57] @mcmasterdonia : "What are some of the qualities of your opponents that you admire?"
[2020-05-05 03:44:02]
@mcmasterdonia :
@Mall you may go first.
[2020-05-05 03:44:04]
@mcmasterdonia : Two minutes
[2020-05-05 03:44:09]
@Mall : None, I cede my time.
[2020-05-05 03:44:24]
@mcmasterdonia : Thank you. @Birb (
@Yuno) you are up next. Two minutes.
[2020-05-05 03:45:44]
@Bobberino : 30 seconds
[2020-05-05 03:46:14]
@Yuno : ok uh
[2020-05-05 03:46:17]
@Bobberino : Time. Please post what you have.
[2020-05-05 03:46:22]
@Yuno : Bob: He is the best mass-pinger spammer
@Prydania: He is the best roleplayer, and I think he'd be really great at culture, also he's been on NS since 14 years as of this moment. So the admirable quality is Consistency. Also the fact that he has been on NS for 14 years how I never heard of him until recently is a GOOD thing because that means he did not cause any scandals, drama or fights for so long, that's maturity.
[2020-05-05 03:46:25]
@Yuno : i didn't finish b ut ok'
[2020-05-05 03:46:28]
@Yuno : thank u very muc
[2020-05-05 03:46:29]
@mcmasterdonia : Alright, up next is
@Prydania. You have two minutes.
[2020-05-05 03:47:51]
@Prydania :
@Mall: He's honestly telling us he'll coup the region. I appreciate honesty.
@Praetor: He has a ton of experience and an attention to detail that is, to be honest, impressive beyond belief.
Gorundu: I admire his work ethic and how he's low-key one of the more experienced candidates running for this position.
Yuno: She's run a feeder, and she was vital in revitalizing TEP in a lot of ways.
@Rocketdog: I have been very impressed with his work in Home Affairs, which is a Ministry that is sadly overlooked.
[2020-05-05 03:48:04]
@Bobberino : Do you cede your time?
[2020-05-05 03:48:07]
@Prydania : yes
[2020-05-05 03:48:11]
@mcmasterdonia : Up next is
@Rocketdog. Two minutes.
[2020-05-05 03:49:48]
@Bobberino : 30 seconds
[2020-05-05 03:50:14]
@Rocketdog :
@Mall coup's
@Praetor being innovative that shows in the Card Guild.
@Prydania being hard-working which shows in RP and and the executive.
Gorundu work ethic and also how you are running for this election
Yuno's tutorials are so good for new players.
[2020-05-05 03:50:16]
@Bobberino : Time.
[2020-05-05 03:50:25]
@mcmasterdonia : Good. Up next is
@Praetor. You have two minutes.
[2020-05-05 03:50:29]
@Praetor : I have admired Gorundu’s willingness to jump into government since he joined the region, @Rocketdog’s interest in working about improving Home Affairs, Yuno is incredibly funny,
@Prydania is passionate about the RP community, and @Mall…
@Mall is unique. I cede the remainder of my time.
[2020-05-05 03:50:47]
@mcmasterdonia : Thank you
[2020-05-05 03:50:53]
@mcmasterdonia : @Vote Gorundu #KTNPG it is your turn. Two minutes.
[2020-05-05 03:51:16]
@Gorundu :
@Prydania has shown dedication to the RP community, which is a quality we should see in every leader, and he has been able to hold himself to the pressures of being Lead RP Mod.
@Praetor is willing to propose unconventional solutions and willing to defend and explain his stance against criticism. He has also been extraordinarily loyal to the region, even when he's not always popular. Yuno is a nice person and very enthusiastic about everything she does.
@Rocketdog for his willingness to participate in everything and run in a ton of elections. I think that's all the candidates.
[2020-05-05 03:51:22]
@Gorundu : I yield the remainder of my time
[2020-05-05 03:51:29]
@mcmasterdonia : Thanks. We will go straight to the next question this time.
[2020-05-05 03:51:40] @Bobberino : What is your opinion of the Regional Message Board and what more can the Government do to engage with our residents there?
[2020-05-05 03:51:41]
@mcmasterdonia : "What is your opinion of the Regional Message Board and what more can the Government do to engage with our residents there?"
[2020-05-05 03:51:44]
@mcmasterdonia : Oops
[2020-05-05 03:51:57]
@mcmasterdonia : @Birb (
@Yuno) You are up. Two minutes.
[2020-05-05 03:53:30]
@Bobberino : 30 seconds
[2020-05-05 03:53:34]
@Yuno : The government minister should not have to worry about optics, and just post, and mass "Like" RMB posts whenever they want. Sometimes the RMB can be eyebleach worthy but you have to post there sometimes.
As for what content to post-- you can just keep posting "PLEASE TYPE IN FULL SENTENCES" to try to encourage RMBers to stop spamming and post some content that would make people more interested in checking there more. Or encourage news or RL news discussions, RL politics , Democrats vs Republicans, Trump vs Biden vs Democrats.
And post the discord link a lot.
[2020-05-05 03:53:38]
@Yuno : thank u very much
[2020-05-05 03:53:44]
@mcmasterdonia : Alright good.
@Praetor You are up next. Two minutes.
[2020-05-05 03:54:47]
@Praetor : The Regional Message Board is an important part of the region as it is part of our community that they see first. It is vital that the government works to facilitate this. Given my experience both as a former Lead RMB Guardian as well as a current Gameside Advocate, I know that spammers can be quite disruptive. Earlier today, we had both region advertisement spamming and other rulebreaking content spammed. So we will work to have a schedule to try to best cover the RMB to deal with rulebreaking behaviour. I would like to bring more activities to the RMB from AMAs to more polls and RMB games.
[2020-05-05 03:54:53]
@Praetor : I cede the remainder of my time.
[2020-05-05 03:55:01]
@mcmasterdonia : Thank you. @Vote Gorundu #KTNPG you're up next. Two minutes.
[2020-05-05 03:55:47]
@Gorundu : RMBers are a bunch of hard people to persuade. I would just encourage executive officials, including myself, to be present on the RMB more often, to build a better sense of community between the RMB and the rest of the region. Of course, Gameside Advocates are a very useful group of people to further the connection between RMBers and the government, and I fully intend to keep them doing what they've been doing, advertising government initiatives and events to the RMB, and answering any eager RMBer's questions about the government.
[2020-05-05 03:55:55]
@Gorundu : I cede the remainder of my time
[2020-05-05 03:56:06]
@mcmasterdonia : Thank you.
[2020-05-05 03:56:11]
@mcmasterdonia :
@Prydania you're up next. Two minutes.
[2020-05-05 03:57:15]
@Prydania : The RMB has been a really unique and engaging, but let's be honest, it's been a bit problematic.
With that said, I have been dealing with segments of the RMB community since 2018 as a RP mod. And I have, over the past few months, had direct oversight over RMB RP mod issues as lead RP Mod.
I appreciate a lot of what the RMB is, I have a blast every time I post there, and I think that I have the experience needed to effectively deal with RMB-specific issues as they arise.
Engagement is a simple matter of administration. We did this with the Lennarts. We directed nomination and acceptance speeches to the forum, but held voting and discussions on the RMB. I think it's a formula we need to use across all initiatives. We need to make sure that as many government programs or events have at least some presence on the RMB.
And, of course, we owe it to our RMB posters to have an active GA staff to root out spammers, harassers, and trolls to let them know that TNP's government actively cares about their community and its concerns.
[2020-05-05 03:57:25]
@mcmasterdonia : Thank you. Do you cede remaining time?
[2020-05-05 03:57:26]
@Prydania : yes
[2020-05-05 03:57:35]
@mcmasterdonia : Alright. Up next is
@Rocketdog. You have two minutes.
[2020-05-05 03:58:51]
@Bobberino : 30 seconds
[2020-05-05 03:58:54]
@Rocketdog : RMB is a good feature that helps connect new players in NS. To engage with our residents we need incentivise people to talk on the RMB, either that be through fun posts or contributing to the discussion. More programs run by Culture and GA’s like AMA and polls as well as potential theme Thursdays. I would like to see RMBers be more approachable to GA's and try to incentives to join the discord to make sure that the GA's can suppress trolls and spammers.
[2020-05-05 03:59:02]
@Bobberino : Do you cede your time?
[2020-05-05 03:59:04]
@Rocketdog : I yield the remainder of my time
[2020-05-05 03:59:13]
@mcmasterdonia : Thank you
@Rocketdog.
[2020-05-05 03:59:19]
@mcmasterdonia : Finally,
@Mall you're up. Two minutes.
[2020-05-05 04:00:44]
@Mall : What is my opinion of the RMB? It's a game mechanic. I don't have an opinion of it, other than that TNP is so huge that moderating it is impossible. Anyone who thinks they can improve it is a dreamer. At least my coup will reduce the region size and make the RMB more manageable. This debate is sponsored by Captain Morgan btw. The Original Spiced Rum.
[2020-05-05 04:00:49]
@Mall : Got a little captain in you?
[2020-05-05 04:00:52]
@Mall : I cede my time.
[2020-05-05 04:01:35]
@Bobberino : Thank you
@Mall.
[2020-05-05 04:01:51]
@mcmasterdonia : We are just conferring with the candidates and their staff. Please hold one moment.
[2020-05-05 04:02:33]
@Bobberino : In the meantime, here is some quality entertainment.
[2020-05-05 04:02:42]
@Bobberino :
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WmcWZ2Bzoho
[2020-05-05 04:03:44]
@mcmasterdonia : As we were almost out of time, we just wanted to make sure that the candidates were available to stay for a little bit longer.
[2020-05-05 04:04:16]
@mcmasterdonia : We will now have a five minute general discussion period. Candidates may refer back to earlier answers made by other candidates and debate as they like. This will be followed by closing statements.
[2020-05-05 04:04:51]
@Mall : Let these wretches fight over policy below me, I'm offering the plebs a fun time. I cede my discussion period time.
[2020-05-05 04:05:22]
@Gorundu : Good.
[2020-05-05 04:05:48]
@Gorundu : Now the adults in the room can talk.
[2020-05-05 04:05:50]
@Prydania : Honestly? This is a pretty boring take that's as spicy as the mayo white people like, but I think we have a good crop of candidates who'd all do well, and then we have
@Mall who will, at the very least, least, make things interesting.
So yeah
Vote or DIe
[2020-05-05 04:06:16]
@Gorundu : Pry are you discriminating against white people???
[2020-05-05 04:06:26]
@Prydania : I'm half white
[2020-05-05 04:06:27]
@Prydania : so yes
[2020-05-05 04:06:32]
@Rocketdog : Vote or suffer the invisible scripts
[2020-05-05 04:06:41]
@Yuno : **don't mind this, just textwall to get 2 cents in**
Okay so I wrote about the other candidates but didn't get a chance to write anything about the last 3. So.
@Praetor:
@Praetor's campaign answers are the best ones, in my opinion. He has experience as Foreign Affairs, Cards Guild, North Pacific Army, and a variety of other ministries, and now Radio. He has creative ideas. Does VCs.
Gorundu: Gives very deep answers, very insightful on how the gov works, a past culture minister, and has passed legislative amendments. Also the fact that he VCs too.
@Mall: Says the most VC content and is humorous. Also has a distant "past" "lore" history "distantly" related to me without knowing it.
I disagree or oppose with this candidate the most, because he thought I was a MeMe Candidate!
@Rocketdog: Very loyal, very diligent, if you DM him to do something, he will do it, and he's consistent and been here for years, on discord and in TNP
I already wrote about Bob and @Prydania#2020.
------
Ok
[2020-05-05 04:06:56]
@Gorundu : I've been a very good past culture minister, thanks
[2020-05-05 04:07:04]
@Prydania : I promise you that, if elected Delegate, the CCD will be barraged by an armada of invisible scripts
[2020-05-05 04:07:12]
@mcmasterdonia : It is worth clarifying to the people watching at home that
@Bobberino is not a candidate for Delegate.
[2020-05-05 04:07:28]
@Bobberino : ok liberal
[2020-05-05 04:08:52]
@mcmasterdonia : Very well, with time almost up and the discussion concluded, we will proceed to closing statements. We will go by timezone order to allow people to get to sleep if they need to.
[2020-05-05 04:09:05]
@mcmasterdonia :
@Mall you have two minutes to give your closing statement.
[2020-05-05 04:10:09]
@Mall : Doxxing me by timezone, v toxic. My closing statement is pretty simple: no one is going to remember or care about any of these other candidates if they win. So that's boring. Vote for me, and TNP will have a lot of fun. It's that easy.
[2020-05-05 04:10:26]
@mcmasterdonia : Thank you.
[2020-05-05 04:10:29]
@mcmasterdonia :
@Prydania you have two minutes
[2020-05-05 04:12:08]
@Bobberino : 30 seconds.
[2020-05-05 04:12:22]
@Prydania : I'm quite happy I decided to run. I'm proud to know that this is something I could do. Fourteen years in NS, and I've never once run for a Delegate position until now. Seems daunting, but just standing so far as proven to me that I have the energy and desire to do this job. I also have, despite having never been a Delegate, the experience to do the job. I know how to manage a community. Be it fostering regular, nightly VCs in the RP server, organizing viewing parties, or helping set up the game server, I know how to bring a community like TNP together.
[2020-05-05 04:12:36]
@mcmasterdonia : Thank you Pry. Up next is
@Bird.
[2020-05-05 04:12:38]
@mcmasterdonia : Two minutes
[2020-05-05 04:13:12]
@mcmasterdonia : Damn it
[2020-05-05 04:13:14]
@mcmasterdonia : Wrong account
[2020-05-05 04:13:23]
@mcmasterdonia : @Birb (
@Yuno). You have two minutes starting now.
[2020-05-05 04:14:56]
@Yuno : My Closing Statement:

Therefore:
This is the most fun, interactive and brilliant Election cycle we have **ever** seen, or experienced, in not only TNP but throughout 20+ years of NS, or NS history.
It's thanks to all these candidates (and audience/watchers) for paricipating, and especially McMasterdonnia who organized this entire event, that made this event possible. And I hope for more events like these that have a large number of people participating or tuning in, particularly for important events like these. Especially since with the lockdowns there's a lot of tense people on the internet usually, so these are relaxing activities for many people, and hopefully the community stays together (along with everyone here) for the years to come, regardless of activity, thanks for being a member
[2020-05-05 04:15:03]
@mcmasterdonia : Thank you
@Yuno
[2020-05-05 04:15:09]
@mcmasterdonia : Up next is
@Praetor. You have two minutes
[2020-05-05 04:16:02]
@Praetor : In the words of my competitors, I am innovative, attentive to detail, willing to propose unconventional solutions and engage with others. These qualities are instrumental to a Delegacy and can be viewed in my platform from working on building a GA community to social deduction games to holding open houses for the NPA to recruit to just organizing casual VCs. I strongly urge all readers to view the campaign threads in the remaining time and don’t hesitate to ask questions. Additionally, do your research on the candidates from their work holistically in the Executive to details such as ensuring Executive Staff applications are processed quickly. Lastly, thank you to
@mcmasterdonia and
@Bobberino for hosting this debate.
[2020-05-05 04:16:13]
@Praetor : I yield the remainder of my time, for the last time.
[2020-05-05 04:16:13]
@Bobberino : Do you cede your time?
[2020-05-05 04:16:17]
@mcmasterdonia : Thanks
[2020-05-05 04:16:23]
@mcmasterdonia : Up next is
@Rocketdog. You have two minutes.
[2020-05-05 04:17:38]
@Rocketdog : Good luck to all the candidates, I thank them all for running for delegate and spending their time in this debate and the town halls earlier. I also thank McM and Bob the shitposter for organising this debate. Hopefully I have proven that I have the experience, the history and the drive to be the next delegate. With that a bring a pplaform that is consolidating and collaborative throughout TNP. Whilst that is ambitious, its what I know i can do. Look at everyone’s platform, ask questions and vote!
[2020-05-05 04:17:43]
@Rocketdog : I yield my time
[2020-05-05 04:17:45]
@mcmasterdonia : Thank you
@Rocketdog
[2020-05-05 04:17:50]
@mcmasterdonia : @Vote Gorundu #KTNPG you're up next. Two minutes
[2020-05-05 04:18:56]
@Gorundu : This debate was probably a bit shorter in terms of questions than we all expected. So I'd like to use this closing statement to once again outline my plan if I am elected Delegate. I promise to be a Delegate for all of TNP, regardless of their interest in government, running events and building community.
As to the Delegate's job in running the executive, internally, I believe we should recruit more aggressively and more specifically for new Executive Staff members, through events and AMAs showcasing the staff and the Ministers, and through telegrams and mentors. Executive Staff is what will allow our region to run more effectively and give our inactive ministries a boost. Externally, I hope to consolidate our influence in the WA, publishing IFVs early so it can be viewed by as many people as possible, and helping out new authors with potential to further build up our author base. In foreign affairs, TNP has a solid base of allies, and we can expand this by reaching out to s@Maller regions towards who we can lend a helping hand. The NPA should expand its diversity in operations to become a more professional military and cooperate more with allied militaries. I believe this is a solid platform to take the region forward on.
Thanks for hosting this debate, McM and Bob, and thanks to the peanut gallery, especially
@Mall, for offering insightful commentary.
[2020-05-05 04:19:04]
@mcmasterdonia : Thank you Gorundu.
[2020-05-05 04:19:24]
@mcmasterdonia : Thank you to all of our candidates who showed up for this debate on short notice. We appreciate the time you've taken to put forward your campaigns, answer the questions of voters, and lastly answer our questions here today. Good luck in the general election! Lastly thank you to our audience for showing up and making this an extra fun event. Remember - decisions are made by those who show up. Class dismissed. That concludes our debate. We will post remaining questions on the forum alongside the official transcript of the debate.
[2020-05-05 04:19:42]
@Bobberino : ok liberal
[2020-05-05 04:20:49]
@mcmasterdonia : I will now revoke permissions to post in this channel. Please give us some time to prepare the transcript.[/qspoiler]
