Following the ratification of the new Constitution, the question of regions and embassies was up in the air and Ministry of Foreign Affairs needed a new set of rules with which to apply. As a result, a new policy was drafted and implemented which is slightly more relaxed than the previous one, clearly lays out what is expected of a friendly region to improve relations with the Union and introduces the utilisation of Consulates as the gateway for newer regions that the UDS has no existing connections with, but wishes to become friends.
Senate Election Article

The Union’s second Senate elections under the new constitution were commenced on March 31 by Chancellor Khevo. While the previous Senate election involved concern surrounding if enough citizens would run to fill the five senate seats after numerous announcements of Senate retirement, this Senate election was marked by its highly competitive nature. In total there were ten candidates in the running, four of whom had served in the last Senate. The lone incumbent Senator to not seek reelection was Minister of Foreign Affairs Druing. The ballot also saw former Senators Blazeville Isles Territory and Second United States Republic attempt to return to the upper house. Due to the high number of candidates the editors of two of the Union’s newspapers, The Union Free Press’ Glaciosia and The Flaming Truth’s Comlogical (both also candidates in the election), offered to host a voice chat debate amongst the candidates. This event was attended by most of the Senate candidates and ran for over an hour after which the election was officially opened.
The election results proved the well known power of being able to say reelect in campaign messages as all four incumbent Senators in the election (Glaciosia, Comlogical, Dome Artan and The Noble Thatcherites were returned to the upper house, joined by former Deputy Chairperson Blazeville Isles Territory.

Legislative Activity
Glaciosia
Both houses of the legislature adopted their own rules and procedures. The Standardization and Formalization of Legislative Formats Act was passed by both houses and signed by the President. The legislature made progress on creating legislation for Ministries, and adopting constitutional amendments. In the second term, Glaciosia replaced The Noble Thatcherites as Speaker of The Senate, and the legislative formatting committee received appointments.
USDAF Update
Comlogical
The Union of Democratic States Armed Forces is very happy to announce its military partnership with the Eastern Pacific Sovereign Forces. In a meeting held between commanders Comlogical and Atlae, the EPSA Overseeing Officer, the UDSAF and EPSA is to assist each other in their operations should it be required.
This April, the UDSAF has participated in one (1) liberation, 4 defenses and 16 detags.
