Information Regarding the Sutherland Midway Government

The Sutherland Federation's inaugural government has disbanded after great strain from a system that was too decentralized and economically unfeasible for its people. This document shall summarize the changes made to the nation as a newer more viable system are put in place. A much stronger centralized government is the desired result which will allow unity and more nationwide decisions to be made. The constituent dominions of the former Sutherland Federation have been disbanded and replaced with the governates. There are less governates than dominions meaning that the necessity for government bodies is lesser. Below are the maps of the former dominions and the now existent governates.

These governates are not divided into counties like the dominions but townships meaning that there is no unincorporated areas in Sutherland. There are no governmental districts as the townships are replacing them as the smallest unit of local government. Below is a map of all townships.

Townships vary in population and focus more on geographic distance in regard to governing residents. The Midway Government is bicameral. Each governate has a representative district for the Sutherland College for about every 200,000 residents. The upper house, The Court of the Arc-Wonderess, which includes one member from each governate, and one from four governate groupings.

The Sutherland College acts as the legislative body which signs laws and keeps the Court of the Arc-Wonderess accountable as executors of that law. The Arc-Wonderess acts as the main critic and ethical authority for the government by keeping the nation educated about its whereabouts and maintaining his right of referendum powers from the previous government.

The Midway Government is a provisional government which is acting to advance Sutherland economically and politically until a stable solution can be reached both among Sutherlan and international leaders.

The Midway Government came into official effect January 30, 2020.
