The President stood on top of the hill waiting. The wind was blowing, and the weather in the Highland Republic of Sierra was highly hot and humid, but windy. The capital city alone had all six million people waiting anxiously in the middle of the square or in their apartments. The president took to the podium with the flags of the province of Xavier, the city of Corona, and the general state flag in the background. He took a good look around the city before he gave his address to not only the Highland Republic but additionally, the rest of the world. He took a deep breath inward before looking out to the city. Though he didn't see it, he knew that the rest of the Sierran populace was waiting anxiously for what would happen through the president.
"Ladies, and Gentlemen. Boys and Girls. Nations of the world. It is the Highland Republic of Sierra here, and we have a humble request for all the nations getting this address. The Highland Republic of Sierra requests international recognition. For too long has our nations been dancing around this. We have been offering relations through diplomacy through our neighbours. We have been a state for some time despite us not joining any organizations internationally. However, we are not an official state as we do not international recognition as of now. The Highland Republic of Sierra calls on you, the international community to give us the recognition that we deserve. We feel that we would be an astonishing addition to the world as a recognized nation. Some of the things that we feel that we can do as soon as we are recognized are...
Host yearly celebrations in our marvelous nation,
Enforce human rights around the globe starting with current issues,
Set a precedent in enforcing the rights to life all over the world,
Take a stand against international injustice,
Promote the need for diplomatic relations of foreign ententes,
Emphasize the importance of global peace, and taking steps towards making sure that goal is complete,
As a free and independent state, we, the Highland Republic of Sierra, turn to the international body for recognition, as a free and sovereign state."
The President took a bow and stepped down from the balcony. The guard walked over to him and shook his hand. "Man, it's pretty hot down here..." he said. The president smiled. "It's pretty cold up on the housetop..." he said, "Trust me." The guard smiled and escorted him to the car that would drive him to the presidential house. The president fiddled with his fingers in the car. He was significantly nervous at this time. More nervous than any legislation, more nervous than he was when he was running for the leadership of Sierra, and even more nervous than he was when he found out that he had won.
