Dürrenweil a Human Kingdom, grand it its own regard, yet small to the World.
Its People have weatherd many Storms, and the land is a in a Golden Era of prosperity.
But new Storms are brewing in the distance, and the People are not prepared.
The Kingdom
Dürrenweil, the Kingdom in the East. Its a Human Kingdom, but it doesnt title itself as such, only as a Kingdom.
Lead by the fair Hand of King Krovan II von Kanzermark and his familly.
The Kanzermark Dynasty has ruled since the creation of the Kingdom.
Next in line to the Throne is Crownprince Konrad von Kanzermark, who has two younger Sibllings;
Princess Katja von Kanzermark and the very young Prince Darvid von Kanzermark.
But Korvan II is in good Health and his reign seems like it will last long into the Future.
The Lands of Dürrenweil
There are two Main Parts of the Kingdom, the Vast Mainland and the Island of Südorn.
The Mainland is dominated by Hills coverd with grasslands and Forrests. To the North the Mountains act as a mostlly naturall Barrier.
Südorn has ragged cliffs all over the island with only a few Fjords which are acessiblle to shipping. These Ports have over Time developed settelments around them.
Defense of the Realm
The Defense of the Kingdom falls to a wide arragment of Feudal Lords, Knightlly Orders and other Forces.
Most small lords house either in castles or Counter-castle or the even smaller Tower Castlles. these act as the main points of defence for local regions against attacks. Especially the Border Regions, comminally know as Marken have many small castles. These Nobels nomillay keep a Cadre of semi-Noble famillys around them whose male members serve as a proffesional millitary force and either act as heavy cavalry or Infantry on the Battlefield.
Then there are the Knightlly order who follow two alignments.
on the one side the Worldlly Orders who have dedicated themselves to the Defence of the Homeland and Protection of its People and seek to Mastery, tho some seek their Fate in far away lands.
Faith
The main Faith of Dürrenweil is the Curch of our Lady of Salvation. Churches exist troughout the Land, as do various Monasteries.
Mass prayer is held once a week for the People.
The Demonfire (Magic)
Public Display of Magic is forbidden in all Cities, much like runing around waving your Sword in peoples faces is also illigeal.
There are a select few Insitutes who study magic as a scientific subject, and seek to uncover the secrets of Magic. These Institutes are viewed with sucpicion, as most of their members remain very secretive about their Research. These Insitutes most likley couldnt exist without the expressed support of the King himselfs and annual donations from the Royal Coffers. Its rumored Princess Katja has taken an intrest in the Work of the institues.
Meanwhile the Pesantry of the land view most Magic as abhorent and unnatural and an afront against the Lady of Salvation, there are even Reports that Withchhunts have happend before. Tho some "Miracles" performed by members of the Church are viewed as Divine Blessings.
