Gorundu, officially The Meonas Democratic Republic (Gorundan: Meonas Ryemwa Ginea), is a country located in southern Meterra, bordered by Sutherland to the northwest, McMasterdonia to the southwest, Haor Chall to the northeast, Amortas to the north, and a small coastline in the south. The country is divided generally into three geographical regions - the mountain ranges that extends from Lake Meonyeru and along the Sutherland border; the fertile plains that extend from southern Lake Ayome towards the south and east; and the arid grasslands to the east and northeast, close to the Haor Chall border. The capital is Ayome, located just to the southeast of the mountain ranges, near the centre of the country, while the largest city is Meonyaera, located next to Lake Meonyeru in the east.

Historically, most of the modern nation was part of the Kianese Empire, when it was ruled by native lords, most of whom came from areas near the modern Meonyeru Province. After the collapse of the Kianese Empire, a civil war ensued between the ruling lords and the peasants of the eastern provinces, which lasted 20 years before a treaty was signed in 1737, establishing the State of Meonayea, with a power-sharing arrangement between the two factions. However, factions continued to struggle for power, with several coups and regime changes, and much of the population and the economy was neglected during this time. In 1929, a mass uprising resulted in the overthrow of the government and the creation of the modern nation. To this day, the country is largely democratic, though still struggling with the economy and inequality.
