The Free State of the Principality of the Territory of Nui (Nuia or Nui for short) is a small city-state located on the continent of Meterra. A former Skandan trading outpost, the Crown can trace its lineage back to the Kamaheo Dynasty, the last to rule Skanda before Andrenne arrived. The Crown has ruled the territory of Nuia since its independence in the mid-1800s, with the Crown Princess of Nuia having ruled in perpetuity.
The Crown can trace it's mandate to rule back to a royal decree made just before foreigners came to the Skandan homeland. The decree states that any royals present within the territory, regardless of their place in the bloodline, will assume control of Nuia by forming a regency in the unlikely event that mainland leadership is incapacitated and cannot maintain active governance of the territory.
This regency took the form of three candidate branch families forming a principality, under the leadership of the most senior of the three families, the Kama'Leio.
The legislative body of Nuia, the Nuian House of Free Association (NHFA), can trace its origins back to the ending of the Fascist Wars, to a man named Sunyi Kimiya, or simply, Dr. Sun.
Dr. Sun spearheaded efforts to form an elected legislative body in coordination with the Crown, as a response to extreme civil unrest caused by both Fascist and Allied sympathizers throughout the entirety of the Fascist War period.
In it's present form, the NHFA is a small legislative body of thirty-four MPs: thirty-one line members, two speakers for three major parties, and a President.
Throughout its entire history, Nuia has remained wholly functionally independent, despite competing foreign interests, in what historians affectionately call, "The Great Game."
"The Great Game" describes the time immediately following Nuia's sudden independence, which saw the Crown balance the interests of Syrixia, Goyanes, Maloria, and Andrenne, while maintaining a fragile state of peace and independence.
Today, these nations, together with Astragon, the Lancerian Empire, and Skanda, form the Nuian Free Trade Association (NFTA). The NFTA is the product of the Crown's perpetual efforts to satisfy and better serve its greatest benefactors, in order to ensure the continued independence and economic prosperity of Nuia in the modern-day.
In conclusion, Nuia, despite its humble origins, has grown to become a moderately-wealthy city-state. Under the joint-guidance of the Crown and its President, the Free State has flourished, and continues to prosper, due in large part to its friends, whom have and continue support it, economically, politically, and militarily.
