Held after a civil war between the left and the right of the fallen country of the United States of Korinthia (USK), Tontheon was founded as a refuge state for those who wanted to live with conservative ideals in mind. The country was formed after the USK decided that its differing political and social beliefs were enough to split the nation into two.
Tontheon is located in the northwest region of what was previously the United States of Korinthia with its luscious, green, misty, snow-capped mountains, green pastures for its cattle, and the coastline on the west for its port. Tontheon boasts itself as God's country.
The country also prides itself for having the last remnance of USK patriotism. Citizens enjoy eating Korinthian cuisine such as burgers, hot dogs, pies, and the anual Autumn feast. However, a new culture of eating healthier and delicious food rose from the growing death rates of heart disease and obesity in the USK. A daily meal consists of mainly organic or minimally processed foods with raw fish, rice, and pickled vegetable as major staples, some of which are imported from its close ally, Amaluska. Citizens also enjoy going to movies and attending church every Sunday. A strong sense of the nuclear family is evident here along with their strong Christian values. This reinforces moral social interaction and discourages inappropriate public displays of any kind including nudity and risque behavior. Using derogatory language is highly frowned upon.
Tontheon is a democratic-republic with theocratic tendencies. It is also a Constitutionalist nation based on the USK. Political factions are illegal, but freedom of speech and opinions are welcome. Citizens who have not left Christianity are required to vote every four years for a new theocratic leader. They are free to select "none" on their ballot and regional representatives can step-in if enough voters don't select a candidate. If most regions don't vote for a candidate, a new election will be held with new ones. Political views are deeply influenced by biblical values.
Tontheonians are descendents of the founders of the country whom were all Christians. All are born into the religion, however, there is an option to leave Christianity. There is no single denomination in Tontheonians for they are non-denominational who exclusively rely on the Bible as God's only Word. However everyone is educated about other religions and students' faiths are challenged through rigorous comparisons of other religions. Everyone also learns Christian apologetics, which is the defense of the religion to prepare them for missionary service in other countries if they decide to partake in this service. Those who decide to leave Christianity are welcome to stay, however, they will not have the option to represent themselves when voting for the next theocratic leader. Shunning is highly frowned upon and loving your neighbors is highly encouraged. Each student in the education system takes a test which is implemented by the government to realize their God-given gifts. Students are then encouraged to follow a career or a service that utilizes their gifts. A year of missionary service is also encouraged during their late teens.
The military is heavily influenced by Christianity and is ready to help other Christian and Jewish countries in need of protection from invaders. Everyone is required to serve in the military the year after their high school education has completed and when they've reached the age of 18. This prepares everyone in case of war with a foreign nation and prepares everyone in defending themselves. Although the entire population will be educated in self-defence and in the use of firearms and archery, people are not required to participate in combat, unless a draft gets implemented during war. Tontheon prides itself for its military strength and its willingness and commitment to help other countries in need of protection from foreign invaders and in aiding them during famine.
Tontheon is predominantly in the military weapons manufacturing industry providing for its closest ally, Amaluska. However they also earn much of their revenue from raising cattle and selling beef. Tontheon also hopes to someday become a technological force that can help spread the Word of God. Although the nation is open to imports, immigration is limited to only those who are willing to live a Christian lifestyle, not wanting to change the culture of Tontheon, and are able to contribute into the economy with jobs.
