Hello all!

As many of you are already aware, my name is bootsie, since I apparently lost my capital "B" during the transition of forums. Curse you Tapatalk!

Anyway, one of my first campaigns was called EASY, and though I can't remember the entire acronym, I remember that the "Y" stood for Yeasty. Well, I'm relieved to tell you guys that this campaign, and my term, shall I be elected, will be happily yeast-free!

This term as Speaker, I commit to:

Be Active: Our previous Speaker was not active, and both the rolls and the citizenry were affected by his constant absences. I will strive to be active every day, both on the forums, and on our regional Discord.

Be Informed: This will be my third term as Speaker, and although my second was abruptly ended on my own accord, I am not a novice when it comes to this office. I have worked under and alongside some of the best legislators and Speakers in this region, including Crushing Our Enemies, SillyString, and Zyvetskistaahn. It has been a few years since I have worked in the office, so I will need to actively seek out those changes and make sure I am aware of the changes that have occurred. I will also be informed of when votes end and make sure to notify the Delegate when votes are ready for their signature.

Be Communal: One thing I did when I was a Deputy Speaker that I can clearly remember is welcoming people to the citizenry. The Speaker and their Deputies is one of the first people our citizens encounter in The North Pacific, and as such, I think a nice welcome is something I'd like to do as Speaker. I will also answer all questions proposed to me at the Speaker's Desk.

Be A Good Mentor/Colleague: I will be appointing most likely two Deputy Speakers. I also think that a more senior and a more junior Deputy would be of greater benefit to the office, though I'm not opposed to training two newbies. One issue I personally ran into with Owenstacey was that our timezones overlapped weirdly, so I barely got to interact with him. I'll definitely be taking that into consideration when I make selections.

Any other questions for me?

Bootsie, you have past experience in the office, but it's old and from a very different time. Everyone is going to note the last time you had this job, you barely got to do it before you vanished on us. So even saying you experienced the modern Speaker office is a stretch since you didn't put much time in. I think everyone would appreciate hearing what you learned from that brief experience, both the specifics of how this job changed and how that can be applied to the next term, and anything you learned about staff or time management that will help you avoid pitfalls this time around. And perhaps on the opposite end, was there anything else (aside from what you already mentioned) from back then that could be re-applied to today, an old way we can put to use?

You are correct, the Speaker's Office has changed a ton from when I was last Speaker, which I'll honestly go back to my first term as Speaker after Lord Nwahs disappeared and I was elevated to fill his spot. However, one thing has remained true, and that it is one of the offices that you either sink or swim with. The spotlight is on you at on you at all times, and if you screw up, the entirety of the citizenry will have something to say about it. I can remember this from my term with the Acceptable Words List, a Speaker-approved list of words that you could use to say aye, may, or abstain. It was a massive failure, and I had every citizen commenting on how much it sucked. This past term, ABC got so much hell, and deserved or not, it was because of his actions in the Speaker's Office. I must be fully committed to knowing my stuff and walking the line between insanity and innovation. I'm not sure my opponent is ready for the wrath of the citizenry, but I've definitely taken my share of insults from screwing up in the office, and will strive to avoid that this term.

The Rolls are so automated now. Heck, we used to type things in, and now, it takes like two buttons to do checks, and two buttons to screw things up. I'll definitely have to take a refresher course on the Rolls, but I am quite familiar with the process, so it'll be relearning the commands, not what they mean. Last term I got too overwhelmed because I didn't do enough delegation. Like I said, I'll need to get someone that I know will be there to assist me when I can. I work a full time job, and I'd like to actually go out and enjoy myself sometimes , so I do need Deputies to help me, and I need to delegate better.

Teamwork is definitely a big thing the office needs to improve on. When working under Zyvet, I knew I could ask him or SillyString questions and they would be there to answer them. I don't want my deputies to feel like they can't ask me a question or tell me they think an idea of mine is stupid or wrong.

Just as a general disclosure, I will remain as Speaker for the entirety of the term. I've given my contact information to multiple users of this forum in the event I am unreachable, and am committed to having a successful and complete term. Losing Deropia was definitely rough for me and to see that impact on our community, I couldn't bear to leave, especially without a warning or explanation why.

Could you explain what Yeasty meant in your last campaign?
Hypothetically, if you appointed a Deputy Speaker you find later to be lacking, how would you handle the situation?

Bootsie, in your last election campaign for Speaker you said that you would be active and we all know how that went, so what makes this time different from then and how do we know that you will be able to complete the term?
