The Alanician Alliance
A Brief History
A Brief History
The Alliance is a vast union of star systems and species, united in common goals of brotherhood, self determination, and the pursuit of happiness. The Alliance came to be following contact between the Alanicians and the Py'thalans. The Py'thala were embroiled in a bitter war with several species they had uplifted. The then Alanician Federation was able to arbitrate an end to the "Child's Rebellion", and lay the groundwork for the future Alanician Alliance. The Alliance itself was formed several years later between the Alanician Federation and their allies and the Py'thalan Empire and their allies. The seven founding species of the Alliance quickly passed what is known as the "Edict". The edict strictly forbid the uplifting of a species that was not sufficiently advanced in order to avoid another war like the Child's Rebellion. It is important to note however that the Edict does not forbid making contact with pre spaceflight species. The Alliance in its early days looked much different than it does now. To this day the Alliance prides itself on allowing its members a great deal of autonomy, and that fact was especially true in the early days. The massive influx of new ideas and technology between seven species led some members to reach beyond their grasp, and with essentially no Alliance regulatory bodies they reached and reached. On the planet Qu'rnath the Qunan had developed the most highly sophisticated synthetic life in Alliance space. Initially the synthetics were used in service but over time rose to be recognized as citizens, and began to take part in government. Eventually a synthetic was elected as chief executive of Qu'rnath, this led to a catastrophic civil war on Qu'rnath during which the organic residents of the planet were soundly crushed. Embolden by the events of Qu'rnath other synthetic races throughout the Alliance began to rise up. The war that followed would be the most devastating in Alliance history. When the smoke cleared countless millions were dead, and the final assault on Qu'nath left the planet uninhabitable. Following the war the Alliance was reorganized into a stronger, more active entity. The Post Bellum Council passed thousands of regulations in rapid succession. The two most important were the complete and total ban on unshackled AI, and the establishment of the council of Paragons. The seven Paragons were established as a joint command for the Alliance Military. [WIP]
