A Day in the Life of the Emperors
by Syrixia

Chapter 1: Akbar I, the Conqueror

Akbar awoke one warm summer afternoon. It was the 21st of Mithuna, year 26 of the Third Age. Just another day ruling the empire of his creation. He was in his late 50s now- a long way from his glory days when he rode atop dragons, commanded massive armies, and united an island thousands of kings before him had tried and failed to unite. His servant, Pappu, approached him. Slavery was forbidden by the Gitas- it was known. However, indentured servitude was prominent throughout the Empire, and had been for centuries. "Shri Samraat! Oh, Shri Samraat! I am so happy to see you have awoken! A most blessed of mornings!" Pappu blurted, with an almost dramatic tone. A bit odd, Akbar thought, but Pappu was not the sharpest stick in the bunch, and he was quite loyal...and good at his job.

"Good morning, my friend." Akbar replied, then getting up. After Pappu helped him get dressed for his day in his imperial robes, he left his bedchambers, had his breakfast, and came before the court. He had set up this court himself, and had, through its counsel and his own brilliant decisions, maintained his empire, through great tribulation, for more than a decade so far. After he dispensed judgements that morning, he set out to have his lunch, before his daily meeting with his counselors and advisors.
Chapter 2: Pushyamitra Shatadhanvan

However, unfortunately, Pushyamitra had no time for lunch. Sure, his influence in the land of Dhrashtrka (Xentherida) was secure, but the Ghoshas wanted Pataliputra back. He had to make sure that this did not happen- if it did, he could lose his influence on the Varaamis, and would have a significant block between him and both the Vijayamitras and Rishabhans, who were open to trade, for though Devparma Ghosha, son of Bindusara Ghosha, was still strong, his uncle Ramagupta Ghosha had lost control of his dominions to Devpala Rishabhan's son, Vigraha Rishabhan.

Pushyamitra convened his advisors. One, Bhimdev, argued that a land invasion of Ghosha territory would be the more preferred option, while another, Gopala, argued that the Shatadhanvan naval forces were strong enough to combat the feared Ghosha navy, and probably even win. Pushyamitra thought, and then said, "After our campaigns and the growth of our power across the sea, I believe that a land operation would be the more prudent option."

He continued, "The dominion of Devparma Ghosha is great, but not wide in latitude. Though our navies are the same size, which is a great change from the Ghosha naval supremacy of years past, our armies are larger. We have a clear path to sweep through Ghosha lands and destroy them, or at the very least weaken them." Pushyamitra gave the order, and forces were mobilized.
Chapter 3: Akbar X, the Mad Emperor

But, despite the mobilization now having started, Akbar's advisors still counselled him, begged him, in fact, not to use the great warriors of the Empire to take up this most righteous quest. BUT HE WOULD! THEY WERE FOOLS! HE MUST! ALL THE MONKEYS ON THE ISLAND HAD TO DIE! THE DARK ONE COMMANDED IT! THE VOICES the voices the voices. EVER EBBING IN HIS HEAD. It satisfied him. So...happy...Akbar suddenly released a great laugh. He laughed for two minutes straight, for what seemed, to everyone around him, like no apparent reason.

His counsellors looked at him with odd faces for a moment. Suddenly, Akbar stopped laughing, tilted his head, and smiled a creepy, perhaps cartoonish smile. Then, he flicked his right arm, which gave the Sentinels the cue to outstretch their spears, threatening the counsellors, who immediately began to laugh. Akbar then returned to laughing, before suddenly yelling to a servant, "FETCH MY WIVES, NUMBER 62! IT IS TIME FOR THE BANQUET!"
Chapter 4: Dasharatha II, the Magnificent

Dasharatha sat in the grand banquet hall of his Golden Palace. It was the 1755th year of the Third Age, and his empire spread across the globe, and tonight's course was to reflect that. Dishes from Iraelia, Korova, Demescia, and more were presented, and many affluent citizens, of many ethnicities, from across the Empire were in attendance. As Dasharatha took a sip of Arak, one of his counsellors came to him, notifying him of a decent-sized fleet of pirates off the eastern coasts of Janapadha. Dasharatha lifted his finger, and the counsellor bowed, then leaving the room. Two Imperial lakdharaans were then sent north, and the pirate fleet was wiped out in its entirety, with the survivors forced to sign indentured servitude contracts.

Following dinner, he went outside, on his balcony, to review the legion that would be sailing to Demescia, in hopes of expanding the colony there further into lands not held by any power. Speaking before them, he bellowed, with a voice like thunder, "I COME BEFORE YOU!" The soldiers and officers all raised their arms- the Imperial salute- and yelled, "JAI!" Then, following the usual speech, the mass of soldiers went on its way, and Dasharatha went back inside. He spent a few hours with his wife and children, occasionally calling in his counsellors for information or orders. However, eventually it was getting late, and, after putting his children to bed, he and his wife went to bed as well.
Chapter 5: Rajesh III

Empress Jodha climbed into bed, having just brushed her teeth. Rajesh was taking longer than usual. No wonder- he had been, as of late, concerned. Did the sudden withdrawal of the Dorsettians hint at the possibility of their departure from the Phoenix Union? Aid shipments had been going into Arrandal and Prydania, true, so not all was a great worry- but the feud between Maloria and Sil Dorsett needed to be solved. But now was not the time for worries. He was confident Representative Rajawat would do her best to solve things and help GPO Alvydas bring the Union together again. It was time for bed.

After checking Fluttr quickly, and saying good night to his wife, the Emperor of the Syrixian Empire fell asleep, as had many before him.
