January Update

TNPer
First of all, hello TNP! I am Hirematia, the SLU Ambassador to TNP, and I am excited to work with this region! With our region having celebrated our 7th Founding Day on January 2nd of this year, January has been a very eventful month for us.

The main event of this January was the breakdown of relations between the Social Liberal Union and The Versuitian Federation. In January, Courelli, Delegate of the SLU, decided to join TVF as Central Courelli and run for office. He won the title of Minister of Immigration due to the resignation of his opponent, and he used this platform within the administration to advocate for constitutional reform. While many members of the region were receptive, others were not, which led to the continuation of toxicity within TVF. After months of seeing TVF descend into chaos, and after frustrations peaked with TVF towards the end of January, a vote was held to close embassies with TVF, which passed 12-7 (a close vote with high turnout by SLU standards). However, most members of both regions are confident that embassies will reopen someday.

A less significant embassy closure that occurred in January was the closure of embassies with The Region That Has No Big Banks (TRTHNBB). The decision was motivated by the normalization of alt-right influences within the region (permitted to "grow organically" by the founder), but instead of being brought to a vote, was closed by our regional administration after dissolving their regional government. (Per SLU embassy policy, all embassy regions must have a democratic government).

The SLU has also been focused on building bridges in this month too. Courelli and Ivory Rhodes (Delegate of the Democratic Socialist Assembly) have collaborated on a charter for a group of regions called the Interregional Legislative Coalition (ILC). The aim of this group is to promote World Assembly cooperation between a group of diverse regions. So far, Social Liberal Union, Democratic Socialist Assembly, The Internationale, and The Versuitian Federation are party to the negotiations. (Forest was originally party to negotiations, but voted to withdraw). At the time of posting, negotiations are in the final stages.

Next, there was a special election called for the position of Chancellor after then-Chancellor Austerain unexpectedly resigned. The candidates in this election were New Lettia and Auze. New Lettia beat Auze in the election 9-3. In the Social Liberal Union, the Chancellor functions as the Chief Justice of the court system.

Finally, nominations for our Speaker elections have just begun. So far, only the incumbent, Anaaxes, has been nominated for reelection, although others are sure to be nominated in the coming days.

Thank You for your Time,

Hirematia
