Office of the President of the Commonwealth of Crilalia
Autonomous Province of the Kingdom of Plembobria

Friends and Colleagues,

I write to inform you all of the intentions of my government to carry out resolution 1224 approved by the Legislative Assembly of the Province. Per the resolution, on 3 January, the People of Crilalia shall vote in a referendum to declare independence from the Kingdom of Plembobria, and to establish a sovereign, democratic, and socialist state.

The Royalist government has repeatedly denied our petitions for further devolution and control over our own oil and natural gas reserves. After the Crisis of 2014 in which were forced to mobilize our Commonwealth Defense Force over the refusal of the Royalists to respect our sovereignty, they finally accepted our demand to establish a true parliamentary democracy in Plembobria. But we were a victim of an incredible farce. The Revolutionary Democrats who established the system of governance has become corrupted by the monarchists and the former nobility. Though they claim a popular mandate from the People, they have no respect for the sovereignty and self-governance of our own much older Democratic Commonwealth here in Crilalia.

That is why my government submitted this resolution to the Legislative Assembly. The Royalist government continues to warn us not to carry out this Democratic exercise, saying it is outside the bounds of our sovereign legislature. They mean to take this to the biased nationalist and royalist High Court. Though this is outside their judicial prerogative.

I humbly ask for all nations to respect this Democratic exercise, and to call on the Royalist government to allow our referendum to go forward unimpeded.

Yours truly,

Lloyd Harding, President of the Commonwealth of Crilalia

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE-

As you all may know, the President of Crilalia has announced his intention to go ahead with the independence referendum he pushed through the Legislative Assembly.

The President did not receive authorization from the Crown Government for this action, therefore, any referendum held on independence will not be legally binding. The Commonwealth Legislative Assembly does not have the authority to unilaterally declare independence. Should they attempt to do this, HM Government will immediately present articles to His Majesty to revoke the offices of the Crilalian government as authorized in Section 3 of the Devolution Act, as was done in 2014.

As Crilalian elections are not managed by the Royal Electoral Commission, HM Government will not attempt to prevent the referendum from being carried out, however, the results will not be legally binding, as aforementioned.

The Crilalian President has not called for negotiations with the Prime Minister, nor has he made any specific list of grievances against the Crown to be addressed by legislative or executive action.

The Government is confident that it is capable of containing this matter internally, and we do not at this moment require the assistance of any foreign agencies in managing this current matter.
