Term Limits

A resolution to reduce corruption and to further progressive and fresh ideas from new delegates that otherwise wouldn't have the chance.

Understanding that new ideas from new and fresh minds further the progress of our nations.

Recognizing that endless terms lead to corruption, grid lock, special interest groups and even authoritarianism.

Understanding that intellectuals around our world currently are not being represented to the fullest.

The Respected Nations of the World Assembly hereby:

Institute a restriction on terms in the Security Councel along with the General Assembly of the World Assembly to a maximum of 1 year to prevent bought out endorsements, to reduce corruption and to protect our democratic republic. These members who have reached their term limits shall be eligible to run again after 6 months of relieved duty in office.

Create the World Assembly Protectorate of Democracy (WAPD) panel to ensure the following:
1. Term limits are being adhered to properly.
2. Ensure the integrity of endorsements and prevent special interest groups from forming.
3. Ensure national leaders are waiting the full six months before they run for office again.

I'm not sure that I follow the purpose of this resolution. Is it intended to introduce term limits in relation to World Assembly Delegates? If so it would seem to be contrary to the rules governing proposals to the General Assembly, as it seeks to cause an alteration to the game rules (by changing the current system which allows Delegates to serve indefinitely) which is contrary to the Mechanics rule. Particularly, the Game Mechanics portion of the rule which reads "Proposals can not affect any aspect of how the game works. This includes and is not limited to mandating ejection of member nations for non-compliance."

Agreed. But isn't that the purpose of a proposal? To change something? If this were a true open and free based game they would allow things like this. My proposal was made illegal by GenSec. Who is that? Are they elected? When you read about them they even say that their rules are not finished. They don't even have rules defined for us to follow. That's power abuse.

For all intents and purposes, the World Assembly is a roleplaying group simulating the United Nations. Resolutions should be similar in nature to what the UN does. What you are asking for is a technical change that requires [violet] and the rest of the developers to change code. A World Assembly resolution is not the correct forum for that. What you're looking for is the Technical forum. You can make your suggestion there. https://forum.nationstates.net/viewforum.php?f=15

Also, there are rules:
