"In Control"

Weath

TNPer
Hello everyone,
After months of attempting to find a clear, bipartisan outlet for news and opinion, I decided to start my own. Knowing that humans are by definition biased, the only way to keep the show “unbiased” is to give a regular dose of opinions from both sides of the aisle. The weekly podcast that will be created will be called In Control and each week will have a different host “in control” of the podcast, whoever that person will have the opportunity to address the current of issues of the week and insert their analysis and opinion into the show. The topics can range from analysis of congress to a movie review. One of the only mandatory on air requirement is that the host keep the subject on American culture at large, that includes politics, hollywood, sports and other areas of life that affect the attitude of the country. Hopefully, through all of your participation, we can grow a decent sized audience, and give those who listen a chance, after hearing both sides, decide who they agree with, instead of the one-sided journalism that occurs on both sides and breeds no room for independent thought.

What it is

In Control will be a weekly podcast with a new episode every Sunday. Each Month, a Question will be thrown out to the hosts of the month, each week, along with analyzing the weekly events and news, as well as commenting on any relevant events taking place, the host will have to address the question and give their answer and/or opinion. Example, a question could be “Is gun control effective?” Or “Is abortion moral?” If our audience expands enough, we can begin to poll them to see which side made a better argument against/for the question, and hopefully after some time, we can turn this podcast into a quasi-competition.

Guidelines

1. Keep all episodes between 25-35 minutes, we don’t episodes that take forever but we also don’t want them to be over before you blink
2. No vulgarity during recording, if you swear or cuss, you will not be asked to come back again
3. In order to participate, you must be at least 16 years old and in high school
4. If you rebut something someone said from a previous episode, do it logically, you can not call other contributors to the podcast racist, sexist, homophobic, islamophobic etc, those words prevent conversations about issues from happening
5. YOU MUST HAVE A MICROPHONE, I’m sure I speak for all when I say we don’t want to have trouble hearing what your saying, the microphone doesn’t have to be large or expensive, it just be a mic from your earbuds, but you must have something to keep audio quality at least mediocre.
6. Keep the podcast centered around American culture and politics, don’t go off topic about something unrelated to the listeners
7. Always be prepared for your week, if you sign up, then have nothing to talk about, you will not be asked to contribute again.
8. Make sure you can do the podcast the week you sign up for.

9. You can record the podcast at any time during your week, but you can only publish it on Sunday, ie you can record on friday night, but you must wait till Sunday to post it on Podbean (I recommend you wait for the end of the week to record, because then you can talk about everything that happened during the week, if you record on Tuesday and a scandal breaks out on Thursday, you will have missed the juicy info, or you will have to re record your episode)
10. One podcast per week, you cannot record multiple podcasts.
11. I will be sending out announcements weekly, so check your emails regularly
12. If you are going to bring a guest on your episode, you must run it by me, even if it is a fellow host

Seems interesting. Do you plan on this being mostly geared toward Nationstates, or what? If I were to apply, I'd like to know what I was getting into.

Also, is this discussion based or does one person host each one?

I think it's most likely going to be RL US politics.

"Keep the podcast centered around American culture and politics, don’t go off topic about something unrelated to the listeners" from the OP.
