The Cultural department found itself well occupied in the month of January, both in regional activities and interregional projects. KGB was well represented in this year's NationStates World Fair by Cultural Aurors and KGB citizens alike, who travelled the fair with greetings from our region and kept up activity on our own booth at the fair. Hard work from Nyx Lancaster made KGB's booth among the most impressive at the fair. KGB also hosted its first radio show, starring Constantine Hesse and Nyx Lancaster with special guests Owen Hesse, Mary Lancaster, John Norfolk, and King George VI.
The Culture department wrapped up January with a celebration of its citizens and awards to show appreciation for those voted by our population as the most active and hard-working members in the region. These awards included: Most Active to Victor Lancaster, Most Liked to King George VI, Best Newcomer to Arthur K. Vasentius, Most Creative to Nyx Lancaster, Biggest Troll to Owen Hesse, Most Influential to King George VI, Most Reliable to Victor Lancaster, Most Efficient Soldier to Constantine Hesse, Best PM of 2016 to Charles Lancaster, and a four-way tie for Biggest Workaholic between Constantine Hesse, King George VI, Victor Lancaster, and John Norfolk-Mountbatten. Most importantly, the awards ceremony thanked KGB citizens at large for their love and loyalty to their region and all of the hard work that they do for it.

This month has been an exciting time for the Foreign and Commonwealth Office. In a flurry of diplomatic activity, the Prime Minister and Foreign Secretary accomplished several things. To start the month off, we participated in State Visits with both The West Pacific and Europeia, the results of which have been a signed treaty with TWP and a treaty under negotiation with Europeia. Secondly, following our widely publicized diplomatic crisis with United Kingdom, we have hosted the government of UK in a State Visit and have negotiated a new treaty, the terms of which have been appropriately approved by the KGB Government and Crown and are going before the United Kingdom Parliament. However, what is possibly the biggest success of the month has been, after almost a year of little to no diplomatic contact, The Black Hawks finally deciding to reopen ties with our region, following discussions during a conference of raider leaders. During the time frame of the conference, the KGB government negotiated a Status of Forces Agreement with the region of Exodus where KGB will take on the task of training and developing the Exodus military in return for military support on request.

This month saw a surge of military activity for the Marine Corps. The Corps kicked off its military activity this month after a long break for the holidays with a raid on Middle Earth where the military objective of embassy destruction was reached in spite of constant sieging by defender forces. Next up, the Marines destroyed dreams in a raid on the region of Dreamworld. The next night however, the Marines made an unfortunate part of R/D history. In an attempt to save a Firehelm hold on Cyaran from a rumored incoming liberation force (which never happened, I guess defenders actually playing the game is too much to ask for), the Marines forgot to unendorse their point and overwhelmed the Firehelm WAD, hence pulling off the first “accidental raid” in R/D history. Later on that night though, they successfully raided the region of Lerignon. The following night, capping off our military activity for the month, the Marines put on their running shoes and sped through the first fifteen minutes of update, hitting up four regions before a good portion of the group had to go to bed, prompting the raid leader, the Commandant General, to call it for the night.

This term has seen Parliament pass a flurry of legislation too numerous to mention, however, two interesting bills which do not generally affect the region at large both concern decorum in the respective chambers of Parliament.
After an outburst by a certain unruly MP on the floor of the House of Commons, two bills were proposed to make both the House of Commons and the House of Lords places of sensible yet strict governance.
Most interestingly though, was the announcement by Prime Minister Constantine Hesse on the regular Prime Minister’s Question Time sessions held in the House of Commons, that he will be seeking reelection as Prime Minister. This is in contrast to prior statements made which led many to think that Hesse was going to take early retirement to the South of France after this term ended. It is unknown who he will be facing in the General Election, but exciting times lay ahead for the Kingdom of Great Britain.
