I have agreed to stand as candidate for Justice.

It is appropriate that I answer questions related to this. Post them here. :w00t:

How strict can we expect you to be regarding time extensions if you are elected? The current court case, presided over by you, has displayed a worrying amount of time extensions handed out, vastly inflating the time needed to complete the trial.

The Bill of Rights for all Nations of The North Pacific:
7. When charged with criminal acts, Nations of The North Pacific shall have a fair, impartial, and public trial before a neutral and impartial judicial officer. In any criminal proceeding, a Nation is presumed innocent unless guilt is proven to the fact finder by reasonably certain evidence. A Nation may be represented by any counsel of the Nation's choosing. No Nation convicted of a crime shall be subject to a punishment disproportionate to that crime.

In all circumstances, having a fair, impartial, and public trial is more important than speed. If an extension is necessary in order for the trial to be fair, or impartial, or public, then an extension must be given.

I will not address the specifics of The North Pacific v. The Swedish Republic of New Kenya because I believe that would be inappropriate. The reason is the same reason as the reason for the Court's rules regarding moderating justice participation in the public gallery:

Adopted Court Rules:
3.1.2. A Moderating Justice is strictly prohibited from posting in any thread in the Public Gallery relating to the issue they are moderating, barring truly exceptional circumstances.

In general terms, it is inappropriate for the Moderating Justice to debate a matter they are moderating in public. Debating the question in their own election thread would, in my interpretation, be equally fraught.

Scorch:
Is there anything that you would like to change or reform regarding the court if you are elected?

Yes. As previously discussed I am interested in revamping the court rulings index. Obviously, should SillyString be elected to the Court, I will be pursuing that initiative with her cooperation.

Furthermore, I believe some revisions to the Court Rules may be appropriate, if only to clarify them as they stand. It would probably be sensible to ask for public comment before adopting any change of the rules.
