Ash, candidate for Attorney General

Ash

TNPer
After having seen one well-qualified candidate after the other decline their nomination for Attorney General, I was inclined to run and give it my best shot. The best I can hope to do is perform well in the position and be competent.

I'm a stickler for spelling and grammar rules, I have great attention to detail, and I want the court system to function and get things done.

As Attorney General, I promise to be tough but fair. I ask for your trust, and your vote.

If you have any questions or comments for me, please don't hesitate. :tnp:

Who do you plan to appoint as your Deputies?
I don't have specific names for you, but they would have to be competent and dedicated.

If you had been AG at the time with what, if anything, would you have charged New Kenya?
I would have investigated the matter fully before thinking about bringing charges before the Court. That said, the panoply of charges against the accused seem excessive.

Great question, Tomb! As a former Attorney General, you understand the job better than most. It has been described as "a thankless position" by Gracius Maximus, a view I'm sure is shared among former AGs.

Why am I running for Attorney General? I've been a critic of TNP's court system in the past, and the slow progress made on many cases. I think I can do a good job in the position, and I will make light of deficiencies in the system that can and should be rectified. Put up or shut up, as the saying goes.

If multiple complaints are brought to you at the same time, how do you intend to prioritize them and/or divide the work among your office? For example, would you give a newer deputy a harder case to present as a learning experience, or one with less serious charges, or would you handle most of the cases yourself?

I intend to divide the work based on the type of complaint brought before the Office of Attorney General; for example, criminal versus constitutional complaints. Ideally, I will have multiple Deputy Attorneys General working under my general supervision. Regarding criminal complaints, after the initial period of investigation my team will move forward with the cases we believe will end with a guilty verdict.

Regarding the second question, I would assign a deputy a harder case if they were well-prepared to take it on. For example, previous Deputy Attorneys General have had prior judicial or legal experience; I will be looking for at least one deputy to meet that criteria. A deputy with no prior experience would need to prove themself highly adept to be assigned a difficult case with serious charges. I have no qualms about taking on cases myself and prosecuting them, otherwise I wouldn't be running for Attorney General.

I hope this answers your questions. :)
