Now that the world has been overhauled, I figured perhaps it would be time for us to really rethink our nations' relationships in this brave new world. Would anyone be open to making some sort of economic cooperation/mutual defense pact/international organization/alliance?

Outside of a few people having to rewrite their nations backstories I don't see why any of the major alliances would be affected. The Trillium Accord and Democratic Union still stand. The other organizations are still around in some form and come and go as people utilize them.

Many nations haven't resumed their claims yet; and knowing the amount of nations that were on the map, obviously not all of them will. We should prepare for this eventuality rather than just assuming everything is the same, and accomodate for nations coming in as we go.
Well a lot of my history remains the same except I've shifted dates around and added two more kings to my history. So Esplandia will still probably have cold relations with Syrixia (unless that whole ethnic cleansing never happened) in which case we could have a warmer, friendlier relationship.
Coming from a more realistic standpoint the ethnic cleansing would have probably started riots. It would be smarter to get the Eastern Esplandians to fear the Empire through constant military presence, while allowing them to slowly adjust to imperial rule. Of course, building projects would also be in order. It would be like the Arabian influence in southern Spain, and the wars staged by the West to recapture the East would be like the Reconquista.Esplandia:
