Election Results
It was election season in our fair kingdom this past month and we had an interesting one. With long time member Constantine Hesse coming back to the election field and long time House of Lords members Charles Lancaster coming into the fray it was an exciting election. The Conservative Party led by Heidi Mountbatten fielded JJ Douglas, Albert Philips, Conrad Streicher, and John Mountbatten. The region's newest party, Pax Britannica, led by Charles Lancaster, fielded Constantine Hesse and Valfor Talleyrand. Arthur Pendragon and Akillian Talleyrand both ran as independents. Of the listed candidates JJ Douglas, John Mountbatten, Arthur Pendragon, Akillian Talleyrand, Constantine Hesse, Charles Lancaster, and Valfor Talleyrand were elected. Upon the opening of Parliament JJ Douglas was elected as Speaker of the House of Commons and the House of Commons nominated Pax Britannica party leader Charles Lancaster to be this terms nominee who was then confirmed by the House of Lords and appointed by the King.

We also elected a new World Assembly Delegate. In an interesting election between J.M. Hood and Albert Philips, Hood took the election 14 votes to 10 votes.

Government Appointments
Upon his appointment, Prime Minister Charles Lancaster appointed Constantine Hesse to be the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Secretary, Akillian Talleyrand to be Home Secretary, Nyx Lancaster to be Culture Secretary, and Heidi Mountbatten to be Attorney General. New members were given roles in our government as well. Yuno was appointed as Deputy Home Secretary for recruitment, J.J. Douglas was appointed Deputy Home Secretary for Forum Activity, J.M. Hood was appointed Deputy Foreign Secretary, and Reece Saint-Pierre was appointed Deputy Culture Secretary for Role Play. The Prime Minister had this to say about his cabinet selections.
It is my intention to create a solid governing foundation on the balance of experienced, long-standing members of the region, while simultaneously creating as many opportunities and openings, namely in Deputy positions, for newer members to contribute, observe, and learn from the experience of actually being in a Cabinet position, so that they might one day apply and pass on that same knowledge as the region moves forward. I have every intention to utilize every member of this Cabinet to the fullest extent, and truly take advantage of the diverse and promising skillset we have assembled.

Military Activity
The past month saw plenty of activity from our Marine Corps. We kicked off the month with a raid on August fifth on Imperial Great Britain. The following minor we led a raid on the Brotherhood of Shadows in order to wipe the dirty defender tag from The Grey Wardens from a once powerful raiding force. The next day on the 7th, Brigadier Heidi Mountbatten led a raid on the Union of Science. On the 8th of August our brave Marines continued their tear across NationStates by participating in a raid on Empire of Russia, which was led by Firehelm. A few days later, our Marine’s alongside our RaidNet allies took the region Sweden before fascist forces could complete their sleeper operation and take the region for themselves. After a few days of R and R our Marine’s took two regions in a tag raiding operation on August 15th. On August 20th our forces moved in to secure the newly founderless region of Kingdom of Canada, our forces are still in the region with all natives now kicking back in their new home of The Rejected Realms. On August 20th our Marines took part in a training operation alongside allies from USSD and The Invaders, taking the Federation of Silvania in spite of minimal defender resistance. From there, on August 22nd, our forces continued cutting path of destruction by tagging a further three regions. We wrapped up our month of destructions on August 28th with a further three tags alongside Sith Troopers from the newly founded region The Imperial Army.

Judicial Activity
The Supreme Court of the Kingdom of Great Britain has been busier than usual lately with a new court case, HMG v. Rex , regarding the King's recent use of the line-item veto on a bill sent through parliament to his desk for approval.

Following lengthy proceedings by Constantine Hesse, representing the Crown, and Owen Hesse, representing the Government, it was decided by Lord Chief Justice Nathaniel Lancaster that:

With the above Judgement, the Supreme Court of the Kingdom of Great Britain, finds in favor of the Petitioner, and reverses the Line-Item Veto Action made by the Crown, and further abolishes the use of the Line-Item Veto as such actions are inconsistent with the Constitution and outside the Sovereign's Royal Prerogative.

The full ruling can be found on our safe offsite forums, including excellent amicus briefs in .pdf format.

Culture Festival

Without the culture guru, Sacul Astoria, the government was at a loss with ideas for festivals and culture events. Both he and his wife ducked out of the last term early for personal reasons. In comes Charles Lancaster, with the intent to become Prime Minister. By chance, Nyx popped online and pledged her cultural experience to her brother for his term were he to lead the premiership. With Nyx leading the Department of Culture, Media, and Sport backed up by the talented Reece Saint-Pierre, the first festival exploded upon the citizens with limited time to prepare. The Kingdom of Great Britain turned three on August 18th, 2016, and thus the culture department held a birthday party for anyone that wished to attend. The party is still active to this day with daily activity, but will shortly close to make room for the next festival, which is rumoured to be connected to military operations. Reece Saint-Pierre, the Deputy Culture Secretary as well as the Roleplay Commissioner, started lobbying the public to see what would interest them the most. So far, it seems a new roleplay featuring history and nations will be launching shortly.

The Kingdom of Great Britain has never had a strong roleplaying community, but with Reece himself working on making it happen, the Culture Secretary is confident that it will spark some interest. Let it be known that the parties don’t stop in the KGB!
