The University of Latium is an elite tertiary institution in the surrounds of Alba Longa. Situated on Point Solor, in the former Palace of the Whales, the University of Latium is a highly exclusive postgraduate academy.

Offering a highly rigorous Master's in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics (PPE), with a joint component incorporating distance coursework from top universities across the world, the university's admission requirements are the most rigorous in Eras. Requiring a personal statement from a current government minister, or a known and ruling noble family in good standing, just to lodge an application, amongst unyielding academic and extracurricular considerations, the University of Latium takes in merely dozens of students. These students complete the degree over the course of two years full-time. The compulsory third year is spent completing the Latin Diploma of Military Leadership, accrediting them as the equivalent of an August military officer.

Lecturers at the University of Latium are amongst the finest in the world. Students undertaking the coursework of "Philosophy, Politics, and Economics of Imperium and the Pax Latina", a subject designed to introduce postgraduate study of the social sciences in the context of the Pax Latina, will find themselves on a semester-long course incorporating live hour-long lectures from each Ordinary Magister, as well as a live lecture from his August Majesty, with commentary lectures from a Divine Servicer of the Augustine Household. Leading into "Pink Conservatism", managed and lectured at distance by the current August Librarian for Caesar Theodora Lysandra Augustus, the two subjects will equip students with an understanding of the underpinnings of Imperium's politics, framed by the people who define its development and preserve its histories.

The social life of the University of Latium is amongst its most important facets. Throughout the degree program, students are expected not just to contribute to student politics at the College, but will play roles in advising student politicians across Imperium, gaining honorary access to August student politics at the national level. Student societies at the University of Latium function not as merely addendums to academic life, but as finishing schools for future world leaders. There is no such thing as a Latin Society of, for example, Theatre - the materials and access for such things are made available as a courtesy. Instead, student societies are to be created as takes the fancy of attending students - they may create such societies for whatever means they require them. If one wishes for a Latin Society of Rhuvish Integration, one may have it. If one wishes for a Latin Society of Floregasquan Currency History, such is welcomed. And, to return to the previous example, a Latin Society of Method Acting would be more than acceptable.

Classes at the University of Latium are in accordance with the August school week, with the days Monday through Thursday being reserved for usual academic activity, and Friday being reserved for extracurricular activities, with any classes offered being optional, or as replacements for required contact hours. Staff are encouraged to have consultation hours available on Friday.

All we ask of our student societies is as follows: be ambitious, and do not fail to be ambitious. Students must be prepared to take risks - and to leave those risks to hang, where appropriate. The University of Latium expects the student body to be critical of and disappointed in those peers who hang to societies that hold no role but to organize peers into labels - we expect our societies to translate into the so-called 'real world'.

Students are required to take up residence at the University of Latium, in the Palace of the Whales. Students are organized into wings at the beginning of the school year, which correspond both to an administrative unit, and to the placement of their personal bedrooms. Bedrooms at the University of Latium are not shared. Wings are mixed-gender, and have a unisex residential space - this space incorporates student cooking, bathing, laundry, and leisure facilities. Note that leisure facilities per wing are intentionally minimalistic, incorporating seating, ethernet connections, and a small library including modern best-sellers. Other such leisure facilities are shared by the College, including the palace library, which includes a variety of books for leisure reading. Student wings are expected to create their own routines regarding meal-times and cleaning, and may request the purchase of equipment and supplies at their leisure.

As a courtesy, Friday meals are provided by the University of Latium - breakfast at 9:00, lunch at 2:00, and dinner at 7:00. These meals are taken outside either in the gardens of the College, or within walking distance on the beach, weather permitting, or else are offered buffet style in the Palace Ballroom. Students are, of course, welcome to forego the courtesy meals, for which menus will be provided at least 24 hours prior, but are still invited to have their meals with the greater student body, if at all possible.

Aerospace Engineering
The Augustine Aviation Engineering Institute, Imperium

One of the oldest aeronautical organizations in existence, the AAEI was started in 1883, with the personal patronage of the Imperator at the time, Caesar's grandmother Ulpia Irena, for whom aviation became a personal project. Initially intended to manage to lighter-than-air engineering, like dirigibles and hot air balloons, it quickly received proposals from the general community in favour of support for a private initiative to cross the northern strait by way of a fixed-wing aircraft. This would become the start of the AAEI's work in Neapolis, and they would eventually come to be based from Imperium's first civilian airport, in that city. When the current Imperator, Caesar Felix Albinus, came to power in 1962, he immediately moved the AAEI to Alba Longa, allowing them to start what has now become a postgraduate research institute at the cutting edge of aerospace engineering. As Caesar's own alma mater, AAEI has virtually monopolized civilian aerospace development in Imperium's immense aerospace manufacture and maintenance industry.

Designed to handle the difficulties and challenges of nomadic lifestyle in a modern economy, Nierr's environmental scientific research output is amongst the finest in the world, and has provided a proof of concept instrumental in the development of organized multidisciplinary research in the modern Pax Latina. Their robust theoretical frameworks and empirical research have been cited in journals discussing everything from anthropology to zoology, and will provide students an extraordinary case study in multidisciplinary research in the field, as well as on understanding the interlacing between empiricism and political philosophy. Most of all, it will make apparent the difficult balance of their role as land managers, and as money managers.

Myroria has long been known as a leader in international pharmacology, and the Royal College at Fellowmoor has been at the forefront of the battle against disease and pathology. A name ubiquitous amongst the medical community, Fellowmoor has become a brand in itself in the operating theatre, as the home and employer of those researchers cited in the patents of the world's most innovative last-line antibiotics and treatment solutions. Students undertaking pharmacology through the joint program consider a world much unlike their peers - they are those who shall see the political world through the sterile lens of a laboratory. The Latin component of this Partner Program focuses on science communication and the philosophy of science, to equip its students with the tools to share an understanding of the discipline that remains esoteric at even the highest levels of decision making - the discipline of the research pharmacologist.

Reformed through the work of Imperator Theodora Lysandra, the ACIM is one of the few universities to privilege theories of sociology and mediation in its work, fundamentally situated in the 'rosier conservative' sociology pioneered by her. Formed at the close of the War of Imperial Confederation, the ACIM was to become the body responsible for producing bureaucrats and managers to spread throughout the newly united Imperium. However, it quickly became obvious that the academics who formed its body had other plans. They saw that the need for simple bureaucracy was far outstripped by the need to preserve and protect Imperium's cultural diversity - something that would not be achieved by centralizing education. Instead, the ACIM's second President chose to reorganize the ACIM as a true research center, turning it into a proving ground for researchers and officials who could make the rules - not just follow them. Urban Planning remains the bread and butter of the ACIM's work, producing advisors who understand at the deepest level the complex interplay of cultural heritage, communal organization, and city life.

Princeps Johanna Jura Albinus - President & Patron of the University of Latium

As President of UniLati, Johanna (or Jojo, informally) is responsible for the strategic direction of the University. As an August Princeps, and as the patron of the university, she is also the key decision-maker for the university, holding virtually sovereign control over the property of UniLati. Whilst Jojo is highly reputed as an apolitical figure in the Augustine Household, as a member of the avowedly neutral Medical Service, she is known to have been uncharacteristically involved in the selection of the university's staff.

In theory, she serves as the last court of appeal for issues on crime, academic impropriety, and staff issues. Students will find it virtually impossible to make appointments with her for the time being, but attempts to do so will quickly reveal that this may only be a temporary issue.

The Honourable Umberto - Vice-President of the University of Latium

As the Vice-President, Umberto is responsible for the day-to-day management of the University, and acts as Jojo's stand-in during her frequent trips across Imperium. He is responsible, primarily, for investigating and maintaining academic standards at the university, and acting as the full-time contact for foreign universities regarding the university's partnership programs. Students are unlikely to have private meetings with him.

Student Societies Officer

The SSO is responsible for making sure that Societies can make and hold appointments and events at their leisure. Students looking to make information known to the student body at large, or to a particular Society, can contact the SSO, who may access a database that is rigorously categorized by society, wing, partner program, gender, medical records (like allergies) and other such information. The SSO maintains fairly strict office hours, but has a digital support ticket system that is easy and simple to use, and which they refer to frequently. The SSO is also responsible for mediation between Societies, although, being a student at the University, they may not be totally neutral - it is up to you whether to aggressively escalate the issue to a staff member (who may be slightly annoyed), or to bite the bullet.

Magister of the North

As Magister of the North, Rhea is responsible for the student welfare of students housed in the North Wing, and will likely be students' first line of resort where they require assistance, either in navigating the university's staff and legal departments, or in organizing and holding accountable fellow students in the residences. Rhea is easy to contact, and has office hours throughout the week - she also resides in the North Wing, and can be contacted during an emergency if she is not out. Her counterpart, Tom, can take responsibility for her should the worst occur.

Magister of the South

As Magister of the South, Tom is Rhea's counterpart in the South Wing. As he does for Rhea, Rhea may permit his students to utilize her office hours should he be in strife.

Personal Statement:

The University of Latium is famous the world over for the high quality of education it gives to each of its students. Graduating from the Masters program in Politics, Philosophy and Economics would be not just another point on my curriculum vitae, but an experience that would further my passion for knowledge and discovery. In Myroria, disappointingly few of my colleagues in politics have even a bachelor's degree; many of them find such pursuits useless when they are to be guaranteed power and wealth by virtue of their birth.

Through my late grandmother, Vadeni Adarbeninsun Demnevaniseth Quarrovth, I have a bit of House Moomintroth blood in me. The motto of House Moomintroth is, of course, "A careless life is not a life worth living." I believe firmly that often, work's pleasure comes not from its ending, but from the action itself. Careful deliberation, toil, and no small amount of sacrifice leads to great mental and spiritual reward. I hope that, if accepted to the Latin University, I can contribute this ethic to the betterment of myself, my peers, and my school.

I first formally met Her Honor Emasun, Daughter of the Sedera, three years after I had entered the Council of Great Houses as a young Councillor representing the third district of Fellowmoor. That was 2006; she was fourteen and I was thirty-two. As I began to work more and more closely with Her Majesty, I had the opportunity to watch a young girl become an intelligent, mature, and politically cunning woman. I learned very quickly to never be surprised at what she was capable of.

Even so, I gasped at the news that Her Majesty would make Emasun Countess of Traval. She would be the youngest leader of a county in nearly a century. Of course, she disproved the suspicions that the political establishment and even myself had, grew into the role assigned to her, and made it her own. Today, I am unsure whether to be proud of her for applying to the Latin University or saddened that we will lose such a level-headed, fair administrator - at least until her schooling is done.

Emasun has never allowed anyone to have any doubt of her commitment to her work, her personal growth, or her country. She has proven time and time again that any doubts that do arise are totally unfounded. I can think of no one I know personally who would be a better fit for the University of Latium than her.

It is said in Nierr that to further oneself is the most important task a person can undertake, and that the further someone develops themselves, be it intellectually, physically or in any other means, that is the greatest way they can aid their Otrjedy and the wider nation. It is with this in mind that I apply to the University of Latium, an institute held in as high regard within Nierr as the Zaravic Institute.

As the Nierran nation moves into the modern age and beyond it is increasingly important to consider the impact upon our environment that our largely nomadic lifestyle has. Most of Nierr's population still retains the nomadic life that was imposed in the Grand Departure and thus much work is needed to prevent the steppes of Nierr from devolving into a dustbowl.

My education into the field of Land Management and Environmental Sciences has taken in a wide range of disciplines from engineering to biology and relies upon using all of these disciplines in a combined effort to find new ways of ensuring that not only Nierr's environment is maintained, but also hopefully similar environments across the world and it is my firm belief that I can best do this at the University of Latium.

It is probably quite usual that a former student of one of Imperium's universities sponsors the application of a potential student of the University, but I would imagine that someone who only graduated in the last few years is rather unusual in terms of sponsor. Nonetheless I feel like the University would be remiss not to accept Mikhail Vorinin and thus I have lent the weight of my accomplishments and words to his application.

I first came across Mikhail Vorinin when still completing my own studies in Engineering and my projects in developing new applications for some of the 'smart metals' in use by aeroengineering companies in Imperium. Mikhail was undertaking preliminary research for the effect of dam breaches on the environment, specifically within Nierr, and contacted me about the possibility of using 'smart metal' to reinforce dams nearing the end of their expected service life. Whilst that project would prove to be a non-starter, the idea of using 'smart metals' stayed with me and when I came into the service of Boyar Prince Radovic I got the opportunity to work with Mikhail again. Together we worked on the mobile flood defence platforms and how best to deploy them to limit their environmental impact.
