Europeia's doing it, so why can't we?

As Deputy Minister, I've never really done that much besides suggesting the Minecraft server's opening and a couple other small things. I'd like to change that and do something big.

Thus, an anthem for TNP! Should we make one? What anthem should we base it off of?

I personally was thinking of a more piratey, adventurous theme. For a base, I'd recommend either the Marcha Real of Spain or the Preußenlied of Prussia.

May I suggest Holst's 2nd Suite in F Movement 1? It's good if you want a sort of sea chanty feel.

I came up with this. Tell me what you think. It's a TNPized version of a certain Louie Armstrong hit. I call it "The Shining North".

I see clouds pearly white, and seas so blue,
I see a rum for all of us too,

And I think to myself
of the shining North.

I see the skies above, and soil below,
I know exactly where I should go.

And I think to myself
of the shining North.

The colors of the flag
Flying up in the sky,

Remind me of the rainbow
Majestic, far, and high,

I see friends in the bar,
talkin' politics too,

I guess they're truly
TNPers through and through!

I see players come and go, I watch new ones grow
They'll learn much more than I'll ever know

And I think to myself
of the shining North.

Yes, I think of the seas
of the shining North.

I think that song's too weak and lighthearted.
Are those the right words?
Probably. It all sounds too happy.
Holst's Suite in F sounds alright, but I think the lyrics are really what'll make or break it.

I tried to make lyrics for Holst's Suite, but the damn thing was too fast. If any of you folks have better luck, that'd be great.

This one has a happy march in the beginning and a piratey part in the middle (best of both worlds :P).
"Folk Songs from Summerset"- the third movement of Vaughan Williams' "Folk Song Suite"

"Salty Dog"

I'll wait for you till I turn blue
There's nothin' more a man can do
Don't get your bollocks in a twist
Settle down, don't take a fit
Ya drank with demons straight from Hell
They almost nearly won as well
Ya wiped the floor with victory
Then puked until you fell asleep

Blackened was the banshee's wail
These boots will never fill her jail
So you crawled into an empty boat
For the Gulf of Mexico
Till Cortez came an' when so did you
From the ashes charred and blue
Smellin' like a Salty Dog
Back from Hell where you belong

Anarchy, the scourge of every sea
The Antichrist aboard the rig
With us your cutthroat thieves
The ship went down we all near drowned
Ya stood there on the deck
Till the Spanish came and flogged yer arse
And dragged you from the wreck

They threw a rope around yer neck
To watch you dance the jig of death
Then left ya for the starvin' crows
Hoverin' like hungry whores
One flew down plucked out yer eye
The other he had in his sights
Ya snarled at him, said leave me be
I need the bugger so I can see

It's a staple for many a high school band. I played this and Holst's Second Suite in high school! ^_^

Yes, I like this one!

Yo, if you're not going to record any anthemn you suggest yourself, I highly doubt the culture department is actually going to endorse any of them.
