ARCHIVED: Formal Objection to the Application of Naizerre

I, on behalf of the Empire, would like to tender a formal objection to the application of Naizerre for the reason that they are at war with a member nation, and their casus belli is based solely on rhetoric.

According to the Collective Defense Agreement, and I quote:

"An armed attack by a member outside the Democratic Union shall be considered an attack on all member states, and each member state shall, in conjunction with the rest of the Union under the Strategic Command, take actions as they deem necessary to maintain the security of member states."

If anything we should be at war with Naizerre. Why would we ever have the insanity to accept them?

Objections cannot be made until an application is accepted, and has received provisional membership.

I understand. I withhold my objection, then, and if Naizerre is accepted I shall resubmit it.

Naizerre is hostile to the exploitative warmongers of the East. That much has always been clear.

Syrixia is the most exploitative warmonger in all of Eras, if anything it is Syrixia's membership of this organisation that should be up for debate, due to their repeated exploitative and undemocratic actions.

The Democratic Union is not an old boys club for the warmongers of the East to sit around and play with each other. That Syrixia and Kannex - another warmongering nation that largely escapes the attention of the international community, presumably because no one can understand their brutish and ugly language - objects to the membership of the Marä of Naizerre in this August Body should be reason enough to accept Naizerre into the Democratic Union.

But if the Marä of Naizerre could bring to your attention a small point of fact, the Marä of Naizerre has not yet been accepted into this assembly, and thus the representatives of Syrixia and Kannex have no standing with which to object to our membership. Perhaps if they took a break from destabilising Eras for a time, they would be able to make sure they are up to date on the rules of the Democratic Union.

The Marä of Naizerre won't hold its breath for that time, however, preferring not to pursue the Sisyphean task of awaiting a day when the Syrixian 'Empire' is a force for peace and stability.

I oppose this objection, should it be brought forward in future. I believe that the criticisms that the Democratic Union have simply faciliated the hegemonic imperialism of the East are valid criticisms. The Democratic Union needs to be prepared to embrace diversity if we are to achieve a lasting piece.

Accepting Naizerre would also obligate them to defend the Empire of Syrixia should it be attacked. We need to demonstrate that the Democratic Union can accept a wide diversity of cultures, even those who criticise us.
