Game of Thrones: Syrixia

Syrixia

Inspired by Serpentine Statecraft, Game of Thrones, and my interest in creating internal conflict in Syrixia in the past, I've decided to suggest this.

I was thinking a Game of Thrones-type RP set in medieval Syrixia, where each of you would play a character in the House of Akbar seeking to take the throne, in a sort-of War of the Roses-like scenario with incest and violence and betrayal, etc.

Thoughts?

You'd have to fill us in on the various aspects of Syrixian (Hindi?) culture. This does seem very interesting and I'd like to participate.

Remind me to do this tomorrow. I'll post links to:

The Syrixian Factbook
Rakanism Explained
The Syrixian Kinglist

(Or if you want you can see them yourselves before I get up and do it tomorrow)

That sounds like a fun subject, and quite bloody. Would there be less restriction on murdering others characters? Can people have more than one?

There would be no restriction on murdering others' characters. It's a political free-for all. Here's how it works.

There are 7 main houses, each led by one of the sons of Bhudev I and their descendants. At the start of the RP, Bhudev I dies and House Nanak, the most powerful house, (basically Syrixia's House Lannister) seizes control over the Crownlands.

Jagadish I will wit his way into reunifying the Empire (using corruption, though) under House Jahan, so whoever plays as House Jahan should remember that.

Here's the list of Emperors between Bhudev I and Jagadish I:

Bhudev I: 1001 - 1066
Bhudev II: 1066 - 1102 (House Nanak)
Nabhanyu I the Almsgiver: 1102 - 1134 (House Nanak)
Narendra V: 1134 - 1168 (House Singh)
Narendra VI: 1168 - 1199 (House Angad)
Jagadish I the Liar: 1199 - 1243 (House Jahan)

This RP will take place over the course of 133 years, which will be known in Syrixian history as the Century of Blood.

Here's also a chart of each House's progenitor son, as well as a chart of the pre-imperial names of each Emperor between Bhudev and Jagadish.

House Nanak: Nanak Akbar, a.k.a Bhudev II, father of Nabhanyu Nanak Akbar, a.k.a Nabhanyu I
House Sahib: Sahib Akbar
House Angad: Angad Akbar, grandfather of Narendra Angad Akbar, a.k.a Narendra VI
House Singh: Singha Akbar, grandfather of Narendra Singh Akbar, a.k.a Narendra V
House Gobind: Gobind Akbar
House Funak: Dhaja Akbar
House Jahan: Jahan Akbar, great-grandfather of Jagadish Akbar, a.k.a Jagadish I

Also to note for the guy playing House Nanak: Nabhanyu I is a weak but kind emperor who gives to the poor. The nobles hate him and they endorse House Singh, which takes power.

Can you base this on a period of RL history rather than a fictional series? We would be better off trying to avoid emulating too much of Game of Thrones and instead taking inspiration from real history, which is what George RR Martin himself does anyway. I'm sure there's a period or two of Indian history that corresponds to the Warring States Period and whatnot.

Also, are you going to write in backgrounds for each of the houses, or are they sort-of just names for us to adopt and meld to our wants?

1. We're not going to emulate it much. All the emulations have already been placed in and they number few. Consider this RP just a fun game of history politics chess with murder and sex and betrayal etc.

2. You can meld them to your wants, but don't use that to make them really like your country or whatever because you're the one playing them. (Not calling Kannex out, that was for everyone) Also, just be sure to stick to the stuff I laid out in my last post that had a lot of info in it. The rest is up to you.

I think it would definitely be better if you designed starting points and backgrounds for each of the states than to leave it to us. Or, alternatively, you should give a general idea of what each state ought to be in terms of military, political, or social characteristics and let us fill in the rest.

That would require me to rewrite a large portion of my history and drastically alter the Syrixian Kinglist. I've already left about 80% of the story open for the use of the people RPing it the way it currently is.

That makes no sense. So you'd rather have us write it all out and change your history even more?

Actually, that's a good point. What makes an RP a good RP is if there's suspense and if it's fun to do. I'll remove the ending and make it a free-for-all, but I would like to keep the start so we can set the scene. I'll edit the Kinglist accordingly. Just don't make me go crazy. :P
