JhawnathinJ for Speaker

Hello, Ladies and Gentlemen, Citizens of TNP, Nations, Representatives, I am Jhawnathin Joesphson (formerly jhonsjoe), and I am running for speaker of the TNP regional assembly.

Ive served as a member of the RA for more than a year. Ive proposed legislation, passed legislation, and done what I could to help the region and make it a better place to be. Ive learned so much from the failures and successes of my legislation and other legislation. I know how the legislature works and how to manage it.

Activity, something that unfortunatley lead to the former speakers downfall, will be no problem for me. I have a fully functioning computer and more importantly more time to put in to this region.

You may say that the other *presumed candidates have more expirience in actually being in the position of speaker. But as others have said, exprience does not matter if the candidate knows what to do and how to do it.

Now, lets get to the issues and what I would like to accomplish this term.

Voting Decorum:

This is something that has been in place for quite a long time in the RA. It is simiply a mandate that votes that are not posts of "Aye", "Nay" or "Abstain" without embelishments will not be counted in votes on legislation, or anything else for that matter. I would uphold this, as I beleive in an orgnized RA. I'd contact the voting legislator in question and request he change his vote to meet with the standard.

Update Memberhip Rolls and Legal Documents when amended:

I would stay on top of this if elected, and make swift changes to both of theese as soon as it is neccesary.

Deputy Speakers:

I would appoint two deputy speakers, individuals with knowledge on how to well...be a speaker. Preferably an active RA member or former speaker/deputy speaker.

Weekly Digest?

I am open to the idea of bringing back a weekly digest to keep the RA members informed on bills and other events, however It would not be every week, but every two weeks, or so.

Conclusion:

I may be an underdog, but I know what I'm doing, and I hope to be your next speaker of the Regional Assembly. Thank you.

Also, this thread is an AMA. So feel free to ask any questions at all.

Back in 2014, you voted against the Voting Rights Act, which changed every instance of "Regional Assembly member" to "citizen" and vastly changed the purpose of holding "citizenship" from just voting and not requiring citizens to vote any to retain their citizenship. That being said, do you think citizens should be required to vote in things to be truly democratic, or should we have the right, if we believe we aren't knowledgeable on the matter at vote, or just don't care, to not vote?

Have you ever served as deputy speaker? Would you seek to become one if you lost the election?

If you were to be convicted of a crime in TNP, which crime would you most want to be convicted of? Why?

Certainly , no individual should be required to vote in a matter of which they have no knowledge of. That being said, there is always the option to abstain, but some individuals simply want no part in the regional assembly. I voted against the bill in 2014 because I didn't like the new maskings and names. I don't think it's fair to not be considered a citizen of tnp just because you don't want a part in the RA

I have not served as a deputy speaker. Whether I would seek to become one am I to loose is something that I would decide then.

Probably Treason for trying to coup and reinstate a democratic government in tnp in the event of a rouge delegate.
