2015 Year in Review ~ NationStates Region, The World Assembly, and The Security Council

In 2015 there were 37 new resolutions in the World Assembly in which the Delegate voted on 35. Of these 35 votes, 28 or 80% of time the vote agreed with the majority whereas 7 or 20% of the time the vote was with the minority. As such, the NationStates Region tends to vote with the majority on practical resolutions yet remain a minority voice on legislation we find meritless. Additionally, there were 32 Repeal Resolutions in the World Assembly in 2015. Of these repeal votes 25 or 78% of time the vote agreed with the majority.

The Commend/Condemn silliness of the Security Council continued in 2015. There were 15 Commend attempts of which 4 were defeated and 11 were passed. Given our Anti-Security Council stance NationStates voted Against all 15 resolutions. We also voted for the 5 Commend Repeals with 4 passing. The Condemn vote in the Security Council was 4-6 with NationStates voted against all 10. Additionally, we voted for all 4 repeals of which only one was successful.

The most ridiculous and dangerous power of the Security Council is the Liberation provision. In 2015 4 Regions were subject to Liberation votes with 2 falling to the recklessness of the Council. Alas, only one these Liberation Resolutions were eventually Repealed but more as a ploy rather than due to the illegitimate and manipulative nature of this abuse of power. Typically, NationStates Region voted against all 4 Liberation votes and for all 4 Liberation Repeals.

We continue to stand against Liberations as merely a means to take over control of a Region or to usurp the game power of the freely elected Delegate. Our own region was subject to such manipulation of the rules whereby our 11 years of stability was shaken were it not for some gracious support by the Jennifer Government community.
