Thanks Grosse. Eras also edited my account, and I believe her changes fixed the moderation issues I had.

I had a few requests:

...

- Can you please move "Lock Box" inside "Forum Operations"? Given how strict we are about keeping the number of top-level forums small, and that Lock Box is just a post dump, it hardly deserves a spot on the index page. Also, it is a staff-only forum, so it makes sense to have it inside Forum Operations.

...

Thanks.

Grosseschnauzer:
The Lock Box is only visible to moderators Global Mods and admin, the permission groups who have the power to move appropriate posts or threads there. No one else can even see it.

When someone in one of those permission groups notices a new post or thread there then that serves as a red flag to check the Moderation HQ area for any possible discussion about it. So I don't think there's any need to move it.

"Bumping" the request for reconsideration. I have no strong feelings one way or the other.

All I've seen lockbox used for lately is errant double posts made by The voting booth. I'm not sure I can move stuff into there either.

I like the lock box outside.

I don't mind if it was further below where it is, but i wouldn't want it in forum operations.

I think most recent posts in the lockbox actually belong in the trash can. The Lock Box is for reporting TOS violations.

This to me seems different than an archival forum that's basically dead. This seems to be an alert forum for TOS issues or spambots.

(Do we have a "trash can? I can't see one if so.)

It's certainly not how it's been used for at least two years now. The way it's been used is as an archival location, or dump if you prefer, for accidental or extraneous posts that would normally be deleted, were it not for our policy against deletions. Thus, it would fit under the archives very well.

If it's indeed intended for TOS violations, then that's an issue exclusively for admins and mods, and therefore the forum should be under Forum Operations, like the rest of the moderation facilities.

So, in either case, it fits much better elsewhere than on the index page, where it's useless and is taking up useful vertical space we could be using for other things (e.g., election forum).

Why don't we just send the extraneous posts r3n mentioned to the trash can? And get rid of the lock box... Is there a particular reason we need both?

Like Raven, I also had no idea we had a Trash Can.

I do know that ZB provides this option, but I didn't know it was enabled and we are/were using it.

Alright, so perhaps only admins are able to see the trashcan and why some topics were moved to the Lockbox area.

I do see some spam posts moved to the Lockbox but the bulk are non-Lockbox posts like double posts and whatnot.

I think Lockbox still serves a purpose but we should use it for that and then give the GMs access to the trashcan.
